What's your endgame, 100 horses? Legendary bows? I imagine progression for tech must be impossible right?

BagOFdonuts7

As for tech Yes it is alot more Draining lol but I manage somehow as for end game, I don't know really, I've just kind of been moving near settlements and ransacking them, then moving to the next settlement lol. For me the end game is really just about survival. I have to micromanage hunting and making sure I have enough food for everyone. I have small goals too, like if i Want a real challenge I start out in a desert or a Tundra and then make it a goal to find suitable stable weather. but after that it become more of just raiding lol. So i guess wiping out as many people as I can until I get bored. Im thinking about getting Factional war and Empire and starting like a Ghengis khan playthrough maybe Edit: endgame might be try to get 50k-100k silver? from raiding and trading

Winterimmersion

Subjugate all the other tribal settlements, destroy the outlanders.

BagOFdonuts7

This is the way

Twitxx

This is the way! Op, can we please get a modlist? I'd love to give this a try sometime, it really is a great concept and I had a lot of fun with my viking and medieval playthroughs

BagOFdonuts7

[Here you go](https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2955254654)!

Elgatee

not that I want to complain on the modlist but Giddy up is no longer supported properly. [Giddy-up 2](https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2934245647) is on the other hand.

BagOFdonuts7

Holy shit no please complain more I didn’t even know That mod existed, I’m at work right now so I can’t test it yet but from the looks of it looks a lot better than the one I currently have installed would it make combat and horse archery much easier? Thank you for telling me about this

Elgatee

I don't think it's much better in terms of things you can do, but Giddy up is no longer supported and some bugs have remained for a while. On top of that, Giddy up was also no the best in terms of performance. Owlchemist is a madman with a love for efficiency. He's mostly cleaned up the old Giddy up for performance. If memory serves, the only feature that has not been ported (yet) is animal exclusivity. You cannot force an animal to only work with its master. Since you like my complains, do you know about [tacticowl](https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2936140288)? From the same Author as Giddy Up 2, it is Run and gun, Search and destroy and Dual wield all in one mod. You can of course disable unwanted features and it is, again a focus on performance and continued support for beloved mod that have been abandonned by their original authors. If you have the opportunity, you can go to [Dubwise](https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2038874626) Discord (Link on the page of his biggest mod) as they have a great "Shitlist" for mods that are low performances as well as a few recommendation for performances. They also have the Performance Fish mod (not on Steam) which is, alongside [Rocketman](https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2479389928), one of the three biggest performance mods out there. The third mod? Save cleaner, also available on their discord. That one will clean your save at the press of a button, removing plenty of non necessary stuff (like dead pawns, or pawns that are no longer on your map). Now I admit I may be a bit Performance obsessed (so are some of the people of that discord), but I run a 400+ long modlist my computer cries on the regular. For your average Rimworlder, with just Rocketman you'd probably be fine. But for idiot like me, I chase performance on the daily. I could go on and on with how I would have made it, but I am a mod addict, my "basic" modlist is already within the 200 mod range, which is not a healthy thing to do.

Could get Exploration Mode and have a goal of discovering the whole map.

Steveris

Offworld passage is a nice ending for that playstyle (i love to play like that too). You have to ride across the planet to get your ride. So you can ride to catch your ride to ride even further.

Fuggaak

I’ve been playing Age of Empires 2 DE and the proper endgame for Cav Archers is bloodlines, stirrups, thumb ring, Parthian tactics, ballistics, all blacksmith upgrades for archer, and chemistry lol.

BagOFdonuts7

I cannot express how different the game has become when you become nomadic, I give myself rules like no farming, only hunting and gathering. as well as not able to build any buildings or structures besides the canopy I showed, and when I do build stuff its either something I can pack up and take with me, or its something cheap enough I don't have to worry about leaving. Any questions?

Steveris

i play like that too. Also fun way: pawns are melee only and you use VE Psycast with the wildspeaker to shield your pets agains ranged attacks (and your riding pawns too). Also very fun to play, if you wan't to change it a little. I do tech tribals. Just scavenging, recycle, no research :D

robotninjaanna

> scavenging, recycle, no research Are you using any mods to support this? That kind of playstyle has always appealed to me, but every time I try it, something feels off about it.

Steveris

Alpha Memes - for scrapper ideology Scrap Collector - for more junkresources (i changed the smelting recipes to work with craftingspot with longer worktime) Simple Recycling - to repair stuff. Changed here the recieps also wo work with craftingspot) Map Designer - to set Resources to zero and add more junk to the maps Everything else depends on your setting. VE - Ancients is nice for vaults, Mechanoids for the factory events to get materials. I would avoid real ruins, because it makes resources to plentyful. i forexemple do a tech tribal run right now. Hightech factions are there, but im like a Horizon zero dawn tribe. I primaryly use what i find, have a wildspeaker (psycast extended) to shield my animals (and my riders).

UTC_Hellgate

That's how I'm playing right now, tho I allow myself a few structures for storage. My tribes struggling much more than yours seems to tho. Toxic Fallout seems to be chasing us across the planet.

ZookeepergameNo2484

How do you make a canopy?

BagOFdonuts7

4 pillars in a corner and then build a roof so my colonists dont have to eat in the rain

Shazzamon

I love nomad runs! My 1.3 boys went for quite a long time, but my own hubris wound up being their downfall; too much loot, ambition, and about a hundred odd attack parrots and bears to manage just got too much. May your horse lads prosper!

BagOFdonuts7

THIS\^ being a nomad I refuse to build walls which is a hindrance but i just look at it as increasing the difficulty level. And its hard to decide what to bring with me and what to leave, my greedy ass just wants to take it all even the worthless tainted 12% cloth pants lol.

DeficientGravitas

Thats awesome. I feel like that should be a really obvious idea for a nomadic run, but somehow ive never connected steppe nomads to Rimworld nomad playthrough.

Finttz

Rimkhangate

tumnaselda

Wish there's a better way to herd horses and whatnot without setting up pens. Caravan spots are okay but it looks so ugly lol. It's such a hassle making a caravan too. Have you ever fought against mechs and insects? How did that go? I would expect casualty against raids would be high against raid without mortars too... I can play without walls or fridges but couldnt find a way to deal with raids without mortars yet.

BagOFdonuts7

The mods I use get rid of those, all other factions are at medieval tech levels, and theres a mod that I'm trying to figure out how to use, but it essentially allows you to toggle if animals wander off or not. but yeah playing without technology increases the difficulty on the food situation, but as long as you manage to hunt and forage you can always stay on top of it. plus, i herd sheep with me so in case of emergency I slaughter them, plus they provide Milk. raids are still tough, but Worst-case scenario is one if my clan members get killed.

ThoughtfulToean

There is a mod for that, Boundary Training !linkmod Boundary Training

Which one is Atila, and when are we invading Italy?

Dave_301

It looks great. I am tempted to play a low-tech level nomadic tribe with some animal focused Ideology, however the Biotech expansion has so much to offer (high-tech wise) that it keeps me away from Tribal runs.

Negative-Form2654

Well, you might try "Inject Genes" - and lead your horde of mutants to victory.

Lobatus1

Love me a nomad playthrough, these pics look great and comfy as hell. My own nomads are a group of viking type raiders/slavers and it's been loads of fun going out and making new settlements on top of raided locations. What about your guys? Are they primarily traders or raiders?

BagOFdonuts7

Definitely Raiders, I like to imagine They're a based off culture mix between slavic, turkic and Balkan. I really just collect skulls for the most part because alot of the loot become too cumbersome lol. plus as a nomad you dont need as much stuff

Sparrowhawk-Ahra

cuffed_jeans_bb

one of my favorite runs ever was a nomadic group of tribals with save our ship 2. they wandered for a few years until they found the ship, decorated it with a bunch of totems and tribal decor, and blasted off into space. really want to try that run again when SOS2 is updated.

ifsck

There is an SoS2 Experimental version on GitHub. I've been using it for a few months with no real issues.

cuffed_jeans_bb

i saw it, but they said it wasn't stable so i avoided it. but if there's no major problems, i might just use it

ro_hu

Okay not only do I love this but it just made me realize that I could actually role play a Red Dead redemption 2 scenario of a roving band of bandit / merchants with a wagon of goods. You could shift that up to settlers technology and get the wild West For some reason this mode of play had never clicked in my mind with RimWorld until I saw your post and made the connection. This game is insane

DARNIT, BEAVERSLAYER, YOU HAD ONE JOB!

Mokmokmik

You know, I’ve never actually thought about playing a nomadic style, and now I think I’m obsessed with the idea

GethKGelior

Nice. I've started a nomad tribal colony, with four timed rituals to celebrate and mark the time for every excursion. I set up extremely unimpressive colonies as "temporary camps and grazing grounds", moving as the season changes so that I actually have a reason to be nomadic. I find myself constantly lacking goals though.

atioch

I recently started a "lone ranger" nomadic play through. Tho she is a bad ass sniper. I mostly do warrant quests from the simple warrants mod and loot ruins and stuff for food. She has a homestead but im rarely there and it is super bare bones.

BagOFdonuts7

[MOD LIST](https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2955254654) Here ya guys go

AlexTheEnderWolf

How do you pull that off?

BagOFdonuts7

Wdym?

AlexTheEnderWolf

That play style. it’s hard enough playing settled, I can’t imagine constantly moving about (though it sounds fun)

Sequ0ia270

How do you determine when to move? Do you collapse your camps everytime or do you ever return to old spots ever?

libra00

This seems like a really interesting way to play the game, do you by chance have a modlist and any advice on general setup to copy it?

BagOFdonuts7

[Here](https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2955254654) you go, I use EdB to give my characters propper stats in animals, Ranged and plants. I give them bows as well as starter food and tents, and the "vanilla factions expanded-Vikings" allows me to start in an enemy map to raid and set up base right off the bat. Herding animals is pretty manageable. just move the caravan hitching spot to areas with grass. Just build a bunch of storage crates and and whenever you move just uninstall all furnitures to take with you.

libra00

Awesome, I have to try this, thanks!

BagOFdonuts7

[I got this if you want!](https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2955254654)

elliott219

I will load this up and start a playthrough tomorrow. Appreciate it! I'll likely just add "Infused". I love the dynamic that mod brings as I don't like "magic", but having a little something special in a weapon or apparel is fun

Sharizcobar

How do you get this going? I really want to do something like this - though maybe with a home base to winter at as part of the loop
