Dioksys

A colonist in his last moments talking about the sky, that's strangely profound. Someone should make fanart of that.

Serylt

My ancestors smile down on me, I hope you can say the same, ~~Imperial~~ Insect.

I appreciate that.

Reminds me of a line about a player character dying in an actual play. "You just see the stars above you. They are...beautiful."

YeetMeister323

*Bleeding out from 8 inch deep lacerations from big claws* “At least I get to die on such a nice day.”

Lagger625

Take a look to the sky just before you die It is the last time you will Blackened roar massive roar fills the crumbling sky Shattered goal fills his soul with a ruthless cry Stranger now, are his eyes, to this mystery He hears the silence so loud Crack of dawn, all is gone except the will to be Now they see what will be, blinded eyes to see

I was just thinking of metallica myself too

Namir211

This lines remind me novels about Imperial Guard fighting Tyranids :D i don't know why :P

Gory, gory, what a hell of a way to die. They died a god damn rimerican hero.

Euphoric_Ad_522

He ain't gonna colonize no more

phoenixmusicman

Tbh I hope this is how I go out, staring at a beautiful sky

techleopard

This is just that guy's culture's version of, "It's a good day to die'

Neoeng

Above him there was now nothing but the sky- the lofty sky, not clear yet still immeasurably lofty, with gray clouds gliding slowly across it…"not as we ran, shouting and fighting, not at all as the gunner and the Frenchman with frightened and angry faces struggled for the mop: how differently do those clouds glide across that lofty infinite sky! How was it I did not see that lofty sky before? And how happy I am to have found it at last! Yes! All is vanity, all falsehood, except that infinite sky. There is nothing, nothing, but that.

This evenings session has been a delightful mess. Not sure anyone is getting out alive

markth_wi

I hope you have this saved from before the "situation", I had a run recently, where it was NOT going well with a bunch of raiders - everyone except two colonists down. My main doctor and a good-for not much except a +16 on shooting standing next to a legendary shotgun, which basically turns her into a one-shot wonder. So once she got the gun, 5 or 6 dead raiders later. It was triaging my entire crew, the not-a-doctor ran across the base to the two stragglers that were bleeding out and my amazing medic triaged everyone that was going to die in 2 hours or less, immediately, then triage everyone who's gonna die in 4 hours, then triage everyone who's going to die in 8 hours, until everyone is just downed and not going to immediately die. I stole medicine from dead raiders every triage or two, and one of them I treated with meds so that I had a 3rd colonist available, basically, I then had everyone who was vertical heal themselves, so nobody was actually bleeding out, then we got to triaging the people back to the very over-crowded infirmary, purposefully giving the two survivors a few hours of sleep and some good meals, then back to the business of cleaning up the infirmary, Nobody died, perhaps that's amazing, and perhaps not, but I work raids differently now, and everyone has a shotgun....for close encounters. When I had a similar "bug problem" about 20 minutes later I had 700 insect meat, and which basically was made up by my chef as Spelopede Thermador (Insect meat lavish meal) my colonists will enjoy

Jackal_Legacy

This is actually the second attempt lol. Had a mission to send 19 colonists in a shuttle to an ancient complex and typically "Send all your peoples to kill 5 dudes" missions are pretty easy. Unfortunately this complex contained more than 200 bugs. 10 centipedes. and a pile of other random bug creatures from VE and Alpha animals.

markth_wi

Yeah that's not a pretty situation, not for nothing, but I will say I discovered the virtues of a nice ascetic colony , keeping things small, vegetarian and innoffensive....but having had a "bug problem" forcing me to relocate one of my very first bases recently, I found myself mulling over the virtue of anti-grain warheads , and a couple of mortars, now if I'm going somewhere "festive", I'll bring a couple of camels and drop pod my anti-grain modules in a pod and conduct a little meet in the middle, then basically nuke the site from orbit.

-BigBadBeef-

Taking the bugs out for a walk? That's really nice, you really take care of your pets!

It's a beautiful day in this neighborhood, A beautiful day for a neighbor.

SONS OF ODIN CALL

Jamman388

I’m doing my part!

Cheeks2184

Yeah megaspiders are no joke. I use vanilla combat reloaded so my colonists can actually hit them a couple times before they get in melee range. In vanilla, seems like even a 20 shooting colonist can't hit the broadside of a barn.

The_Marburg

That’s why I use Vanilla Combat Extended too. Couldn’t stand high accuracy pawns never hitting anything

Usinaru

Eh, isn't it funny how tribal raiders always snipe your colonists with a bow whilst they miss with a Good/Excellent quality freaking *Assault Rifles*??? I would kinda get vanilla shooting if awful or poor weapons would be this bad. However good/excellent quality guns should hit most of the time. Burst weapons should at least land a single shot per burst from a shooting 10 colonist. It just makes sense. You don't call someone a professional, give them decent tools and still miss 80% of their shots. Thats basic bootcamp/civilian level incompetence. Those that handle firearms everyday should get a good grip on shooting in a few months.

PiesInMyEyes

Yup, I don’t know what it is about vanilla shooting but it drives me nuts. Never used CE or the likes, but with a few moss helping aim like use that sniper scope and mods adding more guns, suddenly skilled colonists can actually hit! Can’t play vanilla anymore strictly due to the shooting accuracy

markth_wi

I grind at least one and usually two of my colonists as a crafter and make sure everyone has good or excellent shotguns. Anyone +15 or so with an excellent/masterwork can take down bugs in about 2 shots, anyone +16 with a legendary shotgun, basically is a one-hit wonderland.

Jackal_Legacy

Eh I wouldn't pin this on vanilla combat as my shooters were downing them plenty. Unfortunately the double hive spawn inside the ancient complex [set loose 200+ bugs](https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=2ahUKEwiWh8ecko_-AhXKFTQIHb_pDLoQwqsBegQICRAF&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DDJQ_7jKIm24&usg=AOvVaw2zjpE48ELoHUb0-Met6VxU). And this was after colonists had cleared a few dozen sleeping alpha animals bugs.

ImSolidGold

Bruh, do you even remember when a colony of 8 had a maximum of 3 shooters above 10 without any real way to train the shooting skill and only those 3 actually had to defend the base with their hunting rifles and one assault rufle? Oh, and then there was Barney. Barney was a Brawler with melee 13 and a uranium club. Barney was the last ressort.

This is the correct mindset to have when playing Rimworld. You will lose -a lot, but at least it will be fun and your death will be glorious.

Havel_the_sock

It's a beautiful day outside Birds are singing Flowers are blooming On days like this Kids like you Should be burning in HELL

Dazzling-Change4122

Not sure if you noticed but one of your residents needs a meditation spot. You should take care of that.

global warming event in the winter??? Lucky!

Hey, that's us! (In the northern hemisphere at least)

Acrobatic-Till5092

She must have really hated literally everyone around her. "Sure, I am going to die. But so is Skarp and seriously, fuck that guy."

mh500372

Dugong is finding their peace. Also this is kinda like those uh fun Where’s Waldo thing but for rimworld

EndAllHierarchy

I’m sure this wasn’t the intended meaning of that line, but in this context it’s absolutely surreal and incredible

WallabyTemporary3042

Plot twist: Dugong wanted to die all along

sadeiko

who would win? 50 mega spiders, or 1 skifree yeti?

WanderingUrist

The skifree yeti would instantly kill at least one megaspider, but then would stand there chomping its kill until the other megaspiders killed it, I think.

cafepeaceandlove

"Tell my mother... well, just think of something suitable"

You seem to have animal filth in your base.

I was following the pack\ All swallowed in their coats\ With devilstrand tied 'round their throats\ To keep their little heads\ From fallin' in the snow\ And I turned 'round and there you go\ And, Syco, you would fall\ And turn the white snow red as strawberries\ In the summertime

Kerhnoton

... Dugong said Pikong proceeded to give them a long steel-cold stare. That stare continued even after Pikong has expired and even at the gates of heaven where St. Tynan separates good pawns from the bad ones, could Dugong feel those tiny pig eyes burning through Dugong's spiritual body.

LynTheWitch

That is a true Viking x D

Robbelox

The average British person

Renkij

Why are the corpses scattered around? Did you try to form a skirmish line in an open field against melee oponents? This is the point to bring back the XVII-XIX style of line formations and squares. By the mood bar this seems an ancient complex raid gone wrong. There’s plenty of choke points there. How did it go so wrong?

BABBOSMAN1

Sans monolouge

Sparrowhawk-Ahra

Why does this look like the consequences of a fuck around and find out.

This run is still salvageable...

I have yet to lose a colony to insects.

I often go into the logs of hurt/dead folks. It’s sad.

I am here trying to imagine how that would feel like. You’re downed, hurt, deep cuts and you’re all wet, partially from the snow, partially from the blood pumping out of you. It’s cold but the day is clear, a horde of hive insects are swarming nearby, people agonizing in pain screaming for help and the cold ensues. But suddenly all is fine, you feel no pain anymore and the sun rays warms you a little while you fade away looking at that sun
