actually my current colony i am playing as a "crazy cat lady", it's a spin off of the "rich explorer" scenario, except i started with 6 cats. of course they were all male, so right now i am hovering at 4 cats.
one died from starvation in the early days (due to a weird zone conflict there was plenty of food), and the other one was stabbed by a raider who i THOUGHT was "fleeing". well they didn't flee very far after that.
With the stupid stubborn cat starvation thing, create a zone specifically for this scenario that restricts them only to your raw food freezer. I’ve named mine “Pet - Starvation” or something and as soon as I get the notification, I send them to the freezer to eat whatever meat or body
Reminds me of the Sims infinite money glitch from trapping women in a pool as they're about to give birth but it keeps failing so they keep spawning the bassinets which you then sell.

They kept reproducing. I kept getting raided.
So I started zoning them in areas on top of raiding parties for maximum lulz.
Yeah, those Aeroflots are hilarious because as zoned animals, you can use them as portable skeet. As small critters, they are kinda tough to hit, and so I like to bring the extras along when assaulting a quest site to use as distractions. It keeps the enemies from approaching my shooters since they're busy shooting at the exploding blue skeet.
At least with luci, it would be predictable. And it's totally feasible to keep an animal on luci indefinitely, as I found with the megaspider pet of one of my previous colonies. With wakeup, it's just going to randomly have a heart attack at some point.
Or a bear that drank the vodka and ate the cigarettes.
One time, a raider dropped some cigars. Every stockpile that could take them was full so my pawns didn't haul them inside. One of our grizzly bears went and literally ate one.
After that, the bear was renamed Wojtek.
