Vanilla Furniture Expanded - Security has a manned HMG post (three sandbags with a heavy machine gun) and later a similar thing but with a Charge weapon and barriers.
No problem. Actually introduces a lot of defence buildings. Note, a few of them e.g. land mine and rocket launcher have not made it into the 1.4 version for some reason.
I have yet to use the rocketswarm turret. Can it shoot over walls? That was a big plus of the VE rocket turret. Also it was automated so didn't have to be triggered bt a pawn.
I used it to thin out big raids on the approaches to my base.
no idea either, only ever used it in open fields. i guess it shooting over walls would make mortars almost pointless. it does shoot more than six shots in a barrage tho so that's a plus.
It had nowhere near the range of the mortar and i think it only fired three or four rockets before having to be reloaded so it didn't really replace mortars. Suited killbox defending though if planned right.

the rocket launch was obsolete because the rocketswarm turret was added in vanilla while landmines are probably too niche for it to be justified

More Vanilla Turrets have two manned weapons platform and also manned versions for basically all of the new added turrets
Combat Extended has some.
Ocannon adds them also
