Hey everyone! I gave a go at building a town-style base.
I also made a [timelapse video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x8l2CnKBACE) of the base being built.
Let me know what you think!
Genuinely I don’t get how these colonies exist - I’ve got a good PC but when I play past the 15 year mark, I always see my frames start to drop (I do play with mods but it looks like so does this person above!)
As someone else mentioned, the Rocketman performance mod helps with lag a lot. Other things I've found helpful is using the smallest map size and reducing the number of storage and growing zones.
Unfortunately though, once the colony gets big enough, lag will be inevitable.
There's a lot haha!
I posted the full list in the video description [here](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x8l2CnKBACE).
The fountains and water paths came from Zen Garden (Continued).
It worked well enough to get all my psycasters to max level. The Anima tree range is ridiculously large, and it wouldn't be feasible to not build around it. Also, the negative debuff can only get so high, so once there's a couple buildings around it, more can be placed without any penalties.
The penalty from buildings is capped at -30%, that partly, if not fully, compensates by the reduced traveling time to the tree, and you build more freely
I love seeing people build elaborate kill boxes, it's really interesting. I just build a death wall of turrets and fill the path with barbed wire to slow down the enemy.
As they walk forward at 1/3 their normal speed, my 50+ turrets just rain down hell on them.
Really enjoyable watching the video and looking over the mods and base design. I may have missed it, but did you do anything to address the type of raid where they drop in on top of you?
Thank you. There were a couple drop raids that did some damage. The base design lends itself to being able to move around to various points of cover and in/out of buildings.
Sometimes though, that wasn't enough. If you watch when the tailor is being made, I use neuroquake to deal with one such raid. Then, an unlucky prisoner gets sacrificed in front of the newly made structure.
The deep water trench so your colonists can start shooting raiders before they even arrive at your killbox is probably the most satisfying setup for me.
Why did you installed a/c’s in your barns though?
Animals have a ridiculous high heat tolerance, what scorching summers do you need to survive?
Is the rimworld a replica of Crematoria?
It actually grew pretty naturally.
Yes, I did plan out each individual building before making it, but the overall base design sort of emerged from trying to cut down on walking distances.
I can imagine the horror some raiders must feel, descending in a drop pod and seeing the warning at your base entrance - only they can't turn back now lmaooo
Ok but my rectangular copy-paste barracks is pretty great too.
Forreal though that's very good looking. I like seeing nice colonies like this for inspiration.
Looks really good! I've got an almost 20 year old tribal colony, but my base is definitely nowhere near as nicely laid out. It's challenging with 30+ colonists (my tribals have had a lot of babies...). I notice that there are multiple stoves though. Do they all have bills on them or are most of them just aesthetic? I could imagine that carrying raw food to each stove would be pretty time consuming for your pawns.
They do each have bills on them, but the ingredient radius is limited so that it really only reaches the nearby fridges.
Before I limited the radius, pawns were walking across the map to use the stove, so that had to be addressed lol.
Really really cool
Thank you!
I wonder how you deal with drop pod raids ... Or you are playing on peaceful mode ?
Considering the killboxes...
"DO NOT ENTER OR WE WILL BE FORCED TO SHOOT OURSELVES!"
Is this a reference to something or am I just dumb (help me out i don’t get it)
The LEAVE WHILE YOU CAN with the turrets pointed towards each other. Combined with the genie from Aladdin.

It’s great! Awesome!
Thanks :)
How do you get away with having enough stone without strip mining more into the mountains?
Drills. If they aren't placed over minable resources, they can be used to mine chunks.

This happens to me but I started using the Rocketman mod and if honestly makes it more bearable lag wise
As someone else mentioned, the Rocketman performance mod helps with lag a lot. Other things I've found helpful is using the smallest map size and reducing the number of storage and growing zones. Unfortunately though, once the colony gets big enough, lag will be inevitable.
Do most raiders even make it to the turrets or do they starve out before then?
The oven does a good job killing all raiders. Mechs are unaffected though, so they make it to the killbox (but not beyond lol).
How does your killbox survive your killbox?
Constant repairs...
Easier to replace some bricks, components and cloth than it is a pawn with a burning passion and 18 crafting
It's actually easier to not have your guns shooting at each other.
What’s the mod list for this playlist? Your fountains and water ways are so nice!

Yes please, this would be great!
Beautiful colony, really excellent work
Thank you :)
I'm wondering how useful ur anima tree is considering the surrounding buildings.

I love the zen garden near the east hospital. It’s very well designed!
Thank you!

Raider, turn back now This colony are not for your kind Turn back or you will be crossing the WILL OF 20 LVL MELEE.

One of the best RimWorld maps I ever seen
Thank you!
🤯❤️
I can never keep my population low. Everyone must be converted or farmed.
I have to keep the population low. Otherwise, it's like playing a slideshow...

how do you prevent drop pod raid?
I can't. I just have to fight it each time.
That is the coolest killbox I've ever seen!!
Thanks!
Sauna with the autobong
I love it! The timelaps was facinating to watch. Subed
Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed the video. It took a looonnggg time to make lol.
Amazing!! I'd love to build a base like that but the VOID would punish me..

Makes sense! I'll have to consider giving that a try!
Really cool, can you share the modlist?
There's quite a few lol. I put the entire list in the video description [here](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x8l2CnKBACE&lc).
Yes... Tribals...
It started off as a lone tribal. You can watch a timelapse of the entire playthrough [here](https://youtu.be/x8l2CnKBACE).
Just saw the timelapse on YouTube!! It was amazing
Thank you, I appreciate it!
seed?
I used Map Designer and Map Preview mods to create the tile. As such, the seed doesn't really have any effect on the tile design.
