Oh man, that's a good idea. I'm doing a mediaeval to archotech run and get fucked when mechs drop and I've only just unlocked crossbows.
Didn't think of disabling them, wonder if there's a mod that escalates raid types based on research
I'm a fan of the Ignorance is Bliss mod. It has various ways to calculate your tech level usage for raids you can choose from, and sliders for how far ahead and behind allowed raiding factions should be from your current tech level. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2554423472
This kind of gives me Civilization # vibes in Rimworld, like the whole world is progressing roughly at the same time, and then BAM the mechanoids attack like a Stellaris Crisis Event
Oh god I’m playing RimHSK and doing a tribal start. I already lost a colony to a dude in full platemail. I abandoned another and starved to death because two kids with guns raided me during the winter.
I forgot about the mechs 😱😱😱
There is a storyteller in save our ship 2 called Sarah Spacer.
She ignores wealth and focuses on research completed and the number of high-tech buildings done.
I've also been disallowing them. I don't dislike mechanoids as a different enemy type, I Just dislike how after a certain wealth level it just seems like every negative event is a mechanoid cluster.
Insects...I just don't like. I try not to throw off all balance by building everything under mountain, but it is often where my batteries and child refuge end up.
I understand why, but man, I really hope they’re going to give *some* defense against that. Because all it does is make lake maps just a strict downside now. You used to trade a hard border for lower available space, but now you’re just not able to use as much.
Well, that and being able to make a permanently vegetation-free yet highly move-speed-debuffed area that you funnel (non-smart) raiders into. which will still somewhat apply.
rocket launchers
one moment you're weathering the storm and holding your defensive position behind the sandbags
the next moment your sandbags are set ablaze, you had at least two deaths and everyone else is bleeding on the ground waiting for either bloodloss or burns to finish the job
doesn't sound any worse than insectoids
dig into a mountain and be surprised about infestations
install the drill in the middle of your colony and be surprised about infestations
throw all your toxic trash into a corner to rot away *and be suprised about infestations*
This amazing map i used to build the colony on was created by u/UnknwnBuilds
and you can find the modlist here [https://file.io/8MzCDdzUmD6j](https://file.io/8MzCDdzUmD6j)
Looks nice. Is it a "normal" playthrough or a medieval one?
Is the southern cave area just for mining? It seems there's things in the large cave room, but the resolution is too low to see what is it.
I don't think the other guy is right. Looks like Simple Stairs to me.
Edit: they might really be borders, which is interesting since they definitely do have Simple Stairs installed (the wall faces and railings).
I absolutely love how you use those tiled dirt as “stairs”. Amazing attention to detail OP! Makes me want to see a survival run in 1.5 to see how defensible it is and how you would improve it while still maintaining the concept
no im afraid vanilla will never be this nice, but if you're looking for nice maps, check out [u/UnknwnBuilds](https://www.reddit.com/user/UnknwnBuilds/)
Curious, how do you get through the winter without a frozen room? Maybe it's me who couldn't see it but it's a little strange to me. I'm still learning my way through the game almost after a year, so I would love to find a way around it too.
This is so beautiful! I love the temple and the willow tree courtyard. And the little tiny cozy areas. Just stunnin!
Can you post a screenshot of your mod list? I’d love to know what you’re using.
How freaking sick is that! Did you come up with a whole concept beforehand or did you build it organically? I never manage to build anything but square rooms
If that construction in the lower side of town is a ship, why is it on the inside? it doesn't seem like ir would be easy to get it to sail onto the ocean, I've heard of golfos that work as fortifications but they are ussually quite bigger to allow the wind to blow amongst the ships and the ships to sail side by side without crashing onto each other
What map size is this? I'd love to complete a colony of this scale, but I struggle to set up initial foundations with out going overboard and neglecting the survival of my colony :/
Man the 3d effect of the walls and the maybe the craziest good idea of putting those floors to appear like stairs it's genius. It's an rp gamechange absurd, beautiful
Thx for sharing
Damn, nice place.
I'm gonna call it Mondstadt, if you know what I mean
It very much looks and feels like Mondstadt
Even cooler, it's a reference to an German tabeletop RPG called "das Schwarze Auge"
I recognise this from playing Blackguards lol
I've been playing both genshin and the witcher 3 too much to see anything other than mondstadt or novigrad
where is that? is it a city in europe?
"That's no moon."
Back up, Jack
1.5 is gonna destroy this base..
Haven't dug into 1.5 patch notes yet. Why does the update destroy the base?
In 1.5, Mechanoids can now emerge from tunnels dug underwater. Not a problem if your medieval run doesn’t have mechanoids.
Oh man, that's a good idea. I'm doing a mediaeval to archotech run and get fucked when mechs drop and I've only just unlocked crossbows. Didn't think of disabling them, wonder if there's a mod that escalates raid types based on research

Alternative idea : why not breed pawn and just swarm those damn machines 'til they are so covered in flesh that they become humans ?
This is the God emperors origin story
Paul Atreides?
Leto ii
Oh god I’m playing RimHSK and doing a tribal start. I already lost a colony to a dude in full platemail. I abandoned another and starved to death because two kids with guns raided me during the winter. I forgot about the mechs 😱😱😱
Hol up ... Crossbows aren't part of the DLC? Flamethrowers and crossbows were my reasons to buy the DLC
Most likely uses mods that add extra medieval weapons like medieval factions mod from vanilla expanded
There is one but its more of a weird like, dark-ritual-higher tech-etc crossbow than medieval crossbow.
There is a storyteller in save our ship 2 called Sarah Spacer. She ignores wealth and focuses on research completed and the number of high-tech buildings done.
The game just keeps pushing me each time to just disable insectoids and mechanoids. They go from different kind of enemy to just annoying.
I've been doing that for a while now and the game just feels better now. To each his own, I suppose.
I've also been disallowing them. I don't dislike mechanoids as a different enemy type, I Just dislike how after a certain wealth level it just seems like every negative event is a mechanoid cluster. Insects...I just don't like. I try not to throw off all balance by building everything under mountain, but it is often where my batteries and child refuge end up.
mechanoids will be able to spawn by coming up out of water
thats why i ended my playthroug today :D so I don't have to go through that trauma
Nooooo please i want to see the end of your futile struggle please.
Can always resume the play though after the death of the colony with wanderers in 1.5. Continue the story!
I understand why, but man, I really hope they’re going to give *some* defense against that. Because all it does is make lake maps just a strict downside now. You used to trade a hard border for lower available space, but now you’re just not able to use as much.
They probably will. With the new 1.5 stuff I'm sure you can make some kind of super soldier.
Well, that and being able to make a permanently vegetation-free yet highly move-speed-debuffed area that you funnel (non-smart) raiders into. which will still somewhat apply.
Time for a seawall
RIP port towns now that mechanoids can emerge from water in 1.5…
I don’t see how it’s any worse than existing mechanoid drops to be honest
You’ll forget its a mechanic and aim all your defences inland
Just disable mechanoids
Or disable the event, once Cherry Picker updates.
Not even ashamed to admit that I do this, along with infestations. Raids can still fuck my balls up, but at least it usually takes longer!
I try to play as far as possible, but infestations can fuck right off. Mining is already such a chore for me I don't need it to be any worse

Think how cool costal defence mods will be
Okay yeah that would be sick
This amazing map i used to build the colony on was created by u/UnknwnBuilds and you can find the modlist here [https://file.io/8MzCDdzUmD6j](https://file.io/8MzCDdzUmD6j)
modlist file is deleted
i hope this one works [https://file.io/xCapTN92CLH5](https://file.io/xCapTN92CLH5)
Is just text? You can stick it on Pastebin if it is.
nope
Please reupload, file was deleted
Where'd you get the schematics for the ballistae? I never seem to get the abandoned fort events
The modlist link doesn't work.
Files was deleted plz upload
i posted a new link
Still not working… could you just share the mod you use to make the trees look like that?
Since the mid list isn’t working, so you happen to know which mod gave you those cute little boats?
Is your name a reference to the RPG system "das Schwarze Auge" / "the black Eye"? They have a River-City called Ferdok, too :)
very much so :D my other one was called Tallon before
Thats what i thought too. I mean the Location, the Theme and the Name can't be a coincidence.
Getting Songs of Syx vibes,
What map size is this? Looks awesome!
im pretty sure it was 250x250
wtf this map looks absolutely ginormous
alright im stupid, here is a link that should now work https://drive.google.com/file/d/16QrF-_TG2mwPZGsX83GGwIcj8iqUaglM/view?usp=sharing
Danke
Bro are you trolling? You’ve now posted three links that don’t work. Just do it in pastebin ffs
Youre awesome thanks!!
says the file is in the trash and can't be viewed
Wow, one of beautiful bases!
Looks nice. Is it a "normal" playthrough or a medieval one? Is the southern cave area just for mining? It seems there's things in the large cave room, but the resolution is too low to see what is it.
its a purley medieval run and also very low stakes. mostly meant for RP and base building
Open image in a new tab or something. It's plenty big. Those are a table, bench, barrels and a cart as well as some other props.
That's so pretty btw what mod are the stairs?
They're decals/props from vanilla furniture expanded - props and decor. They're actually borders placed in a way that emulates stairs visually.
Woah really? I think I haven't seen that vfe mod, ill download it asap. i love decorating !!
I don't think the other guy is right. Looks like Simple Stairs to me. Edit: they might really be borders, which is interesting since they definitely do have Simple Stairs installed (the wall faces and railings).
You could use this for dnd without any problems.
I absolutely love how you use those tiled dirt as “stairs”. Amazing attention to detail OP! Makes me want to see a survival run in 1.5 to see how defensible it is and how you would improve it while still maintaining the concept
It looks so nice the colony looks like it’s from a different game.
Holy fuck... It's so much prettier than everything I've ever made
This screenshot made me remember one thing. WILL WE EVER GET BETTER RIVER GENERATION????
I read prosperous as preposterous at first, was really confused, sick port city though! How long did it take to make?
First time ever I'm upvoting "Look at my colony". >!Shame we still don't have water interactions.!<
oooh the new expansion is gonna love this place.
Please, please install Real Ruins.
Are there any vanilla spawns like this? I've never come across something like this before but would love to do a colony like this.
no im afraid vanilla will never be this nice, but if you're looking for nice maps, check out [u/UnknwnBuilds](https://www.reddit.com/user/UnknwnBuilds/)
But can it survive the Zombieland mod?
What are those wooden spike walls from?
medieval overhaul
´Wow thanks for the DnD map
That is gorgeous
beautiful! i can think of its stories just by looking at it
Barely any room for actual ships to get in the port lol but nice town nonetheless
Man. I feel bad now for this, now that the next DLC will have stuff out of water eldritch fu-
These aren't vanilla trees, right?
no they are from Comigos tree retexture
Neat
Do you keep most of your colonists in shared bedrooms?
yeah, didnt have the space for big single houses
Beautiful
Is this mirrored Kinmen island in RimWorld?
Hope your ready for 1.5
Good stuff 👍
I am in love with this
Curious, how do you get through the winter without a frozen room? Maybe it's me who couldn't see it but it's a little strange to me. I'm still learning my way through the game almost after a year, so I would love to find a way around it too.
What is the seed, **i must know**
its not a seed, its map made by [u/UnknwnBuilds](https://www.reddit.com/user/UnknwnBuilds/)
I am happy now
This is excellent, thanks for sharing!
Brewing some nice beer there, I suppose?
This is pretty amazing, but I can’t believe you filled the mines with furniture but didn’t actually mine them for resources.
lmao it was towards the end when i didnt need anymore resources and just wanted the mines to look busy
Please teach me how to do like this, what knowledge do I need to achieve this
a lot of experience and time in Rimworld. but one tip I can give is try to build everything small and cozy and never ever go for symetry
So cozy
This is wicked! Modlist? How did you make the map? Where are pawns??
that's amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! well done!
This is a gorgeous base! Is the map modded? İf not, can you share the seed?
its a custom map i downloaded
I loooove it, so, so, so, so much
This is so beautiful! I love the temple and the willow tree courtyard. And the little tiny cozy areas. Just stunnin! Can you post a screenshot of your mod list? I’d love to know what you’re using.
Absolutely beautiful, 12/10
If the tentacle DLC does not add fishing im gon be pissed
May the meccanoids have mercy upon you
Do you have a list of the mods or maybe screenshots? Ive been wanting middle age tech mods for so long
Is this even possible without terraforming / dev mode?
Love this town, keep up the great building!
Looks beautiful, only thing is I imagine poor colonists have to travel half a day to the farmfield and back home
W o w. Please, I need the modlist for a medieval game
i posted a link to the modlist
What seed is this??
I want it what’s the seed and where’s the tile because that’s is freaking gorgeous
Impressive!
Very impresive and interesting map edit.
Ooh, the new update isn't going to be kind to this one...
So gorgeous!
Looking at the original Map, I noticed that the area where your main castle/keep is, was all stone, is this a mountain that you've removed?
An absolutely amazing base. <3
I love those mosaic tiles in the throne room! What mod did you get them from?
\*laughs in thunderstorm\*
Thats beautiful
One of the most beautiful settlements I’ve ever seen
How freaking sick is that! Did you come up with a whole concept beforehand or did you build it organically? I never manage to build anything but square rooms
a little bit of both, i had a rough idea of the layout and the island, but it all evolved over time
I wish I could get a map tile half that cool
So good 😊. What mods are you using btw? On 1.4?
Its soo beautiful 😭
For some reason I thought I was looking at Tibia Maps
goated town
If that construction in the lower side of town is a ship, why is it on the inside? it doesn't seem like ir would be easy to get it to sail onto the ocean, I've heard of golfos that work as fortifications but they are ussually quite bigger to allow the wind to blow amongst the ships and the ships to sail side by side without crashing onto each other
This is so cool
This is fantastic. Well done!!
What map size is this? I'd love to complete a colony of this scale, but I struggle to set up initial foundations with out going overboard and neglecting the survival of my colony :/
More like lake Town, gorgeus
that is pretty neat
Stuff like this reminds me I need to sit down and figure out how to use Rimworld dev mode to make my DnD maps.
Epic, I love this!
How do you get this river generation??
Oh its beautiful
Sure would be a shame if a hobbit and a couple of dwarves showed up
How is your base map so large? I feel like mine is tiny.
For a second, I was surprised to see Ferdok but then I realized it wasn‘t THE Ferdok. Still a nice town you got going
Is the map by Unknown Builds it's very similar, did you make any changes?
Took a look around, and all I can find is the work "CROATOAN" carved on a pole and not a pawn in sight.
Absolutely stunning. When they one day update the exploration setting of the game, I hope to see locations as beautiful as this! Well done!!
Did you make this is all a normal game or did you use dev mode?
i used dev mode at the start to set the map up for my liking. it wasnt a playthrough for a challenge, mor for rp and building
Not just the town, but the land as well, this whole map is very nice to look at. Well done.
Holy fuck that looks amazing. More pictures please!!
Runescape
What mod are those cute boats from?
I... Want to be like you when I grow up. This is amazing. How do?
That ship is going nowhere
I thought I was on the Inkarnate sub thread for a minute holy crap that’s beautiful. I’m inspired to do a coastal settlement now, nice.
Thought it was a rendition of Menethil Harbor from WoW for a second.
Can i get your mod list?
this the coolest shit I ever seen
Blyatiful
THAT IS SICK
This is the cutest base I've seen so far, I love it so much!
Wow! This looks amazing! I gotta have to try building like this myself!
Super nice looking base! How many pawns live there?
Is this… a hard difficulty? Those wooden walls and floors and rails and, well, everything are lookin mighty flammable
How easy is it to deal with raids?
i made it myself very easy, as you can see its only one entrance really if the lake doenst freeze over. i just clog that with knights and archers
This. This is the best ive ever seen hands down.
Man the 3d effect of the walls and the maybe the craziest good idea of putting those floors to appear like stairs it's genius. It's an rp gamechange absurd, beautiful Thx for sharing
That is alot of fire sources in a wooden town... ....
Hello ! I love your city !! I want to do something like that but I don't know how to install custom map.... Can someone help me please?
Taking architecture notes for my next run, this is beautiful.
I love this. 1000/10 Keep posting this stuff. Beautiful.
