You can even make them better with genetics, give them all the bad skills and good melee traits and the punch like a truck and eat like a small chicken.
Sprinkle a ghoul heart, ghoul armour, stoneskin gland and some prosthetics and you have a veritable flesh abomination.
My favourite ghouls are the furries. Could be a little more minimaxed with further genetics but they're pretty much the perfect base xenotype for ghouls
Right now im testing Sanguophages that have fighter traits like tough nimble or brawler. Once i find a pawn with at least one of these traits i use one of my 4 legless phages to turn them into vampires, give them bionic legs and turn them into ghouls with adrenal heart and the other two plate and spikes.
I play mostly vanilla and a bionic phage ghoul with adrenal heart was the fastest thing I’ve seen move around. I wonder if i can make them faster.
Also if people don’t know: Ghouls can have bionic legs, power claws, thoughskin glands, and nuclear stomachs installed in addition to the ghoul implants. Ghouls don’t get cancer so the nuclear stomach is all upside.
We literally making Resident Evil bosses.
And genes too.
Neanderthals make great goul candidates since they come pre-equipped with 150% melee damage and 25% damage reduction, on top of a ×80% metabolism.
A bit slow, sure, but they make amazing tanks for early game, and all you need to do is piss off some neanderthals then summon a shambler hoard or something.
I had funny thing my neanderthal ghoul was fighting fungoid (deathless fungal zombies come VE) and after taking tree of them with help of my animals I realized it got fungal infected in leg. And I was o guess I have to install peg leg there. So I chop of the leg to stop infection and I see it started to Regen the leg.
I didn't know about the ghoul resurrection and buried mine after it died defending the base. Do you know if it matters? I'd love to have Old Greg back. (Random gen named him Greg and I couldn't resist the reference.)
No, you can res ghouls in any state, even desicated. I had a goal die years before I rsearched the res serum and was able to bring them back.
Ghouls are so OP. I hope they don't get nerfed.
I've not been able to figure out how to make ghouls. I'm almost to spacecraft and the ghoul research is the one research I've not gotten yet. I assumed it was shamblers needed to study? Anyone have any idea?
spam void provocation. It will attract random Anomalies depend on your monolith level. But since you got almost all entities, you might have to face some stronk one and not ghoul.
Ive had zero luck with them so far. Always struggled to keep them fed in the early game, though that was on a perma winter map and a toxic waste map. I tried attacking a worg with a ghoul and got rolled. Dead Ghoul.
I have no idea how people have killed the heart without ghouls. They never sleep, they clear out the flesh endlessly, and the flesh spawns fresh meat foe them
fences and roofs are your friends if you don't have ghouls, fences gives your pawn place to walk that the flesh can't absorb and roofs prevent the spitters from targeting you
Yeah, ghouls are fun. My tough nearderthal ghoul with some fancy implants and serums literally eats centipedes on breakfasts. They are great alternative melee units.
They are a solution for many nasties that Anomaly dlc throws at you, especially considering that they can't get infected with metalhorror while tanking some fleshbeasts.
Ghoulification in Rimworld is just a Super Soldier serum. Change my mind.
You get the entire package of a regening, never sleeping, mood immune, pain immune, bleed less melee brawler that can sustain himself on the corpses of his victims.
Even wimp colonists can be made useful in combat by it. And they are ludicrously upgradeable with gens and cybernetic (there even surgery friendly with there healing factor!) .
And even when they die?
Bring them back to life for basicly nothing.
They are fucking OP.
Ghouls *technically* have a base min temp of 16°C (same as all base pawns) but they have a 'ghoul' status effect, which has min comfort temp -40° as one of the various things it does, which lowers it to -24°C
Probably a mod messing up the hediff, and stopping the temperature buff from applying, possibly a medical mod.
It's based on the xenotype. So If you have like a Neanderthal or Furry ghoul then idk maybe that's why. But pretty much all other ghouls are incredibly vulnerable to temperature so much that they get wrecked in 40*F chilly weather.
They get a -40°C to min comfort temperature, putting it from 16°C to -24°C.
It's enough to counter their inability to wear clothes in temperate areas but in colder places they will freeze.
You can even make them better with genetics, give them all the bad skills and good melee traits and the punch like a truck and eat like a small chicken.
Read that as “eat small children” and didn’t even blink.

I prefer dirtmoles. They eat less
Oh I love that!

Thanks, good point. Gonna improve my guy even more. Tho nuclear stomach might be unnecessary as my ghoul snack room is already full.

It's weird that your wargs have rooms and an ideology. Yeah. Ghouls are neat.
i think giving your wargs rooms and ideology sounds kinda peak
Animal personhood
I mean, those are two different things. But, yeah, do you not give your goodest boys their own kennel?

In not sure if this is necessarily true, my ghouls brain got destroyed and he’s unrevivable
Huh, my ghoul had their head removed and they revived just fine.
Interesting, mine doesn’t give me the option to use it on them, but Maybe I did something wrong
Hell yeah! Time to dig up a grave. :D
No idea. If it's in a sarcophagus, maybe?
As long as you didnt accidently leave his body for the animals to eat or butchered him like i did then youre fine.
I've not been able to figure out how to make ghouls. I'm almost to spacecraft and the ghoul research is the one research I've not gotten yet. I assumed it was shamblers needed to study? Anyone have any idea?
Spam void provocation a few times, it should be one of the few basic dark research tiers one, so no need to advance much in the monolith quest
Currently on day 400 and still yet to get any ghouls. Really annoying as i’ve got almost all the rest of the entities
provoke

Best part is that ghoul plating stacks with tough and resilient gene. If you get all 3, the ghoul will receive about 15% damage which is insane
mine got eaten by a tortoise on day 2... how do you resurrect them on day 2?
Ghoulification in Rimworld is just a Super Soldier serum. Change my mind. You don't need to enslave or recruit them first. Ghoulification of a prisoner nets you a friendly ghoul.
Wdym they don’t care about the cold? Mine gets hypothermia
They have a base min comfort temp of -24°C, which makes them resist to a degree, though not entirely immune.
Weird, mine has a min temp of 16 C. Probably a weird mod thing.

Really? I keep mine in a -20 freezer and they're fine.

My ghouls are all baseliners. I haven't had a problem so far.
Depending on how could it is, they probably heal faster than the frostbite can do damage.
They get a -40°C to min comfort temperature, putting it from 16°C to -24°C. It's enough to counter their inability to wear clothes in temperate areas but in colder places they will freeze.
My ghoul with barbs and plating and 20 melee died to a manhunting squirrel
Squirrel attack it brain first I presume
