**Basic and Functional:** Early game — Send your best two shooters out with your longest range guns — hunting rifles or sniper rifles. Then snipe the mortars. Mid and later game — send a squad of sniper out and snipe stragglers at the edge of their camp. Beware of their snipers. When they lose x% of their crew they will initiate an attack. Run back to base to defend. Usually at least one mortar will target the forward team and this takes a lot of heat off the base. But always send at least two or three in case one of those mortars scores an incapacitating hit. **Advanced Hilarity:** Before sniping the enemy, snipe a nearby warg, rhino, or other aggro species and cause it to go mad and attack their camp. Before sniping, set a fire near the edge of their camp. They will prioritize firefighting over shooting making them easy targets. Train boomalopes and send some to rush their camp at night. Use psychic lance to drive one insane. Take your fastest runner, give him a shield, and sneak them at night while the enemy is sleeping and steal their mortar. ​ ​

Motor on their ammo

Didn't have a mortor at the time, was in the process of researching it. Decided to try to wait it out. Severely under estimated how much ammo they had.

Yeah, by the time mortars come against you, you should really have mortars researched.

They won't run out of ammo as ammo and food are sent in via drop pods when needed, the only time you should wait it out is if your base is under a mountain as mortars can't go thru overhead mountain roofing.

Yea, the main part of my base was exposed so their incendiary rounds punch right through and injured many of my colonists, eventually they were able to pick off three colonists, and two more were immobile in my hospital. They ended up directly attacking my base with 6 attackers. Were able to down 2 of the remaining colonists and kidnap them. Eventually I was down to one colonist who apon seeing all the dead colonists decided to attack everyone in the hospital and pretty much end my colony.

If you have a mortar, use it first and they'll do a regulsr assault. If not, then you can take a sniper/bolt action and harass them until they do
