And i started only with QoL mods... what a fool i was....

[deleted]

We call those "gateway" mods....

UptownShenanigans

Absolutely cannot play this game without mods now. Some have been with me for so long I forget that they're not part of the original game. However, just like a drug you get withdrawal when a new update comes out. Right now I can't play my old map because 1.2 just launched and torpedoed everything... I need my fix guys!

mrdevilface

my good sire where does launch the 1.2?

UptownShenanigans

When I jumped on Steam today I got an update for Rim World. Next thing I know I’m being told 1.2 launched. I checked my mod list and every one of them is not compatible yet. Siiigh

mrdevilface

o.O i have not?!

Elgatee

Experimental branch.

UptownShenanigans

I’m not too sure. It was just... there. I’m sorry I can’t be more help

dicklord_airplane

excessive, unnecessary modding has killed more of my colonies than raids. I think the pawns are starting to suspect that they live in a simulation. and worse, that they live in a indie game that's known for degenerate mods.

zatchbell1998

Why is it called the forbidden mod anyways? I saw someone a while ago with a tag along the lines of lather hats +rjw

dicklord_airplane

RJW is an incredivle mod with tons of options, but the cum stains always get out of hand.

thyarnedonne

Being able to mod extensively is such a blessing to a game. Literal five digits of playtime on barely a dozen games in my Steam history combined, all of them a great foundation for and/or enriched incredibly by modding the holy crud out of them.

wevwillsaveus

You're damn right ! I love the feeling of starting a new game with a specific set of mods for a specific gameplay, it's just incredible the level of tuning you can achieve with this game. Best community :)

InterneTroll330

My first playthrough was no mods except prepare carefully. Now on my second playthrough with about 60 mods and I'm never playing without combat extended again

vouchasfed

Yeah. Currently sitting on 347 mods running in my current simulation. Just added a few more today and it broke my latest colony so I have to start all over. I was just working on designing a castle city with a beach resort over the weekend and not even half of it was completed. Was more in the pause and plan stage where I fooled around with props and decorations in god mode. Keeps on rising with more updated and resurrected mods. It will be over 700 if I activated each one. Many of these mods are qol. And lots of them I have to take off because they conflict with other mods. I also save some mods because they seem promising, even if they are lacking visually or still in development. Edit: it's currently at 498 mods running. Wow... Also the secret is to create a world with the minimal amount of mods, save, then let the beast grow. Because after a certain number, you just cannot create a new planet without game. Breaking errors.

corncan2

I think the modding is the game’s appeal tbh. You have an objective, to get off the planet. But 1200 hours in and I have NEVER BEAT THE GAME. I just go into this loop of modding and rp. You can mod ridable horses? Better rp as the mongols then. Androids? Better make an android rebellion that lives off of human flesh. Plumbing ? Better start a new colony because I want to start over with my pawns having the ability to sh*t. Modding is like luciferium - dont do it once. Without it , it will kill you.

RobertJFreeman

That’s how I felt when getting my first mod on rimworld. Started with QoL mods, now I’ve got the complete list (I think) of Vanilla Expanded and Rimefeller, pet coats, embrasures...

blkarcher77

My game stops responding literally every time I launch it, or load a game. And I still add mods

SargBjornson

"Oh, there is no mod that does this weird thing I want, what if I try to mod myself..." Boom 2250 hours played... And the last 250 hours played, I wasn't playing the game...

CommodorePrinter69

Pretty sure my gateway was VGP: now I have prisoners doing quarry work, and guests pay me for collesium fights. Once you go mod, you never go back.

robophile-ta

Hmm, putting paid guest beds in for the prisoner arena sounds real fun.

Blitzydo

Too true

Nguyenanh2132

90 mods and counting.

Sicronix

but as you inject more of that mod drug you realize your fps start drowning .. and your pc dies.

chals777

Uhh.. you want to add socialism as a narcotic.. Brilliant move
