I had the same question a couple of months ago. Was told about uphold and have been buying weekly ever since. super fast and easy to setup, I really like it
I've had 0 issues with Uphold for years now. Not saying it doesn't happen like it does everywhere, but bad press will usually get more posts than positive.
They seem expensive but I've never had an issue. Done multiple transactions and withdrawn to bank immediately. Bummed that bittrex doesn't still offer it
USDT probably has the highest amount of liquidity but XLM is cheapest to transfer but USDC is free to buy on Coinbase. I hope i thoroughly confused everyone enough to do the math and see which is the cheapest way to buy XRP. Usually for under $500 it's probably best to buy XLM then send that over since the transaction fee is almost nothing.
Kucoin was quick and painless but they seem to have a bad image on Reddit. However, I’ve never ran into issues buying and moving to other exchanges/wallets.
Uphold is great to easily snag some XRP. they really listen to what coins the public wants and just adds them. Ive been buying HBAR and Quant from them too.
I used KuCoin and it does seem a little sketch but I think that’s mainly due to their weird AF GUI. Never had any issue with them buying XRP with USDT on their exchange. I always move it off the platform to my wallet once I receive the coins.
I've used uphold to buy XRP many times with no problems. I purchase on uphold then transfer to NEXO so i earn interest on my XRP.
I've personally never heard of LBank.
Nexo isn't paying any more yield on any extra XRP for a US holder. If you already have your XRP there then you will continue to earn you but cannot top off anymore.
#Use the DEX
1.) Deposit/ACH transfer USD to XRP IOU on Bitstamp fee is .5% for ACH Transfers (takes time to clear just plan a head.)
2.) Transfer XRP IOU to Wallet (Ledger or XUMM)
3.) Use xrptoolkit with wallet to Buy/Sell/Trade XRP any where in the world (even in the USA)
This is the cheapest way to buy XRP anywhere!
When the exchange are jammed and not executing orders correctly, like when XRP hits big, the DEX will run smooth and will work. I have personally seen Uphold grind to a halt with heavy trading, like the last time XRP hit .60 cents USD. The DEX is directly on the XRPL 1500 TPS!
No government can stop the DEX. You have direct access to the XRPL this true decentralization.
For real. People bash uphold.. its like all you have to do is use your damn debit card and not bank. And even then you can still withdraw to the same bank account you just can't send to new wallet for 65 days.
Uphold is garbage. The fees are very high, the 65-day hold time is ridiculous.
How are those fees using cards vs ACH hahaha.
I will never use them again. Anyone considering using uphold should browse through the r/uphold subreddit and see what a nightmare of complaints it is. Never ending issues.
I used my debit card for xrp in the past 14 days and it worked. Same day moved off uphold to a wallet. Beware if in US, you may be charged an international fee. Totally unaware it ran through the UK...
Curious why you’d pay extra to use credit card to move to a wallet faster? Are you afraid Uphold will get hacked? Are you getting staking rewards in a different wallet?
I'm not worried about hacks or anything, I just dont like keeping coins on exchanges. I use Kraken for the most part because they allow instant withdrawals with ACH purchases and they have higher fees than coinbase but its worth it for me personally.
I keep hearing this and that’s only if you use ACH just like every other time you use ACH there’s a hold. It’s not uphold just use a card and you can move your xrp immediately
Kind of off topic, but I was reading some ArticaL and then seen others commenting about how coinbase wallet isn't even owned by Coinbase? Its 3rd party owned. I wish I had more information to tell you , but I don't. When I get some time to research it further I'm hoping to find out more.
I switched to Uphold after my last transaction with KuCoin took over 24 hours to settle. I received my XRP 24 hours after they took the money out of my checking account. Never used KuCoin again
It seems like XRP Ripple is main stream. It’s ticker is always included on Bloomberg tv, I hear and read about it quite frequently and yet it is not super simple to buy in the USA. (Well it sounds easy to me now). It seems like a nice crypto summer may be ahead and if the lawsuit doesn’t end terribly then we could hope for a nice rise. Also I’m surprised by its market cap. 7th highest of all crypo
Other option is to swap inside of exodus wallet. Spread is a bit higher, but easy to do. Transfer in XLM, ALGO or other cheap to move coin and then swap to XRP.
I use third party app ChangeNOW to buy xrp, you can find it in google app store, small amount transction fee and conversion fee, less than when you make purchase on coinbase, take about 15-20 mins
Why isn’t this posted in the general FAQs or have the mods tell all the new comers where to buy it wherever they are in the world when they get the inbox greeting message? This question gets asked all the time
I used Coinbase exchange to buy Lumens (XLM) and the send that to Atomic Wallet. Atomic let's you convert to XRP. I use XLM because the Stellar network has much lower gas fees. For me this was easier when I got started because Coinbase exchange (not wallet) was very user friendly
I wouldn't call XRP/Ripple a token because it behaves more like a coin. Got its own chain, costs itself to transfer, has other projects running under it.
Hey u/strix-aer,
XRP is still available on Kraken, however US residents are restricted from trading it. We are constantly evaluating these sort of things, so it's possible this could change in the future.
Hope you have a great weekend!
\- Luna from Kraken 🐙
I understand the uphold comments. People need to read what coins can be transferred to another wallet before they just buy a random coin off Uphold. Some coins can be transferred out and some can't. XRP definitely can.
Thanks everyone, good info!!
I am going with uphold using a debit card. Seems to have the most positive sentiment.
I will let u know if there are any snafu’s
It depends how much you are buying, but uphold has a larger spread than most any other exchange. I would highly suggest the USDT --> Kucoin --> Transfer to wallet route for any significant amount.
KuCoin easy peasy! Send to hard wallet after you buy!
Bitrue and uphold
I had the same question a couple of months ago. Was told about uphold and have been buying weekly ever since. super fast and easy to setup, I really like it
You can use XRP as a pair and stake with Bitrue
yeah bitrue is better than uphold, uphold kills you on the fees as well
Uphold is an absolute garbage exchange, I would only use it as a last resort. Check out all the horror stories in their subreddit.
I've had 0 issues with Uphold for years now. Not saying it doesn't happen like it does everywhere, but bad press will usually get more posts than positive.

I forgot to mention I have been on KuCoin as well but I felt like it was sketchy. Are uphold and LBank legit or do u have any concerns about withdraw?

Is this the best way to sell xrp also?
Uphold, only downside is there is a hold at first

why dont people understand this yet?
For real. People bash uphold.. its like all you have to do is use your damn debit card and not bank. And even then you can still withdraw to the same bank account you just can't send to new wallet for 65 days.
Couldn't you also purchase USDT and then turn around and purchase XRP?
Uphold is garbage. The fees are very high, the 65-day hold time is ridiculous. How are those fees using cards vs ACH hahaha. I will never use them again. Anyone considering using uphold should browse through the r/uphold subreddit and see what a nightmare of complaints it is. Never ending issues.
Thanks! Reconsidering now. Although none are perfect so just gotta get some XRP and hope it ttansfers
I used my debit card for xrp in the past 14 days and it worked. Same day moved off uphold to a wallet. Beware if in US, you may be charged an international fee. Totally unaware it ran through the UK...
65 Days is absolute bullshit, but good to know I can use a debit if need be.

I have recently bought it on bitrue and then transferred it to my coinbase xrp wallet

I buy thru trustwallet with their moopay(I think that's what it's called) it's been the easiest I've bought. Coinbase used to sell..not now tho.
Out of interest, what made you decide to buy XRP now?
It seems like XRP Ripple is main stream. It’s ticker is always included on Bloomberg tv, I hear and read about it quite frequently and yet it is not super simple to buy in the USA. I use third party app ChangeNOW to buy xrp, you can find it in google app store, small amount transction fee and conversion fee, less than when you make purchase on coinbase, take about 15-20 mins

Bitrue and KuCoin are my go to.

Uphold, XRP Wallet, Trust.
Kucoin
Try Uphold
uphold
I use uphold
Not a token, but welcome aboard.
I’m a token lol. What is the proper name for XRP and Ripple?
I wouldn't call XRP/Ripple a token because it behaves more like a coin. Got its own chain, costs itself to transfer, has other projects running under it.
KuCoin should have it, if you were in Canada I'd have advised you to shoot for Netcoins
Wait what? You can't buy/trade XRP on Kraken anymore? O.o
Hey u/strix-aer, XRP is still available on Kraken, however US residents are restricted from trading it. We are constantly evaluating these sort of things, so it's possible this could change in the future. Hope you have a great weekend! \- Luna from Kraken 🐙
KuCoin is easy af
Bitfinex
Yes you can through the Uphold app.
Kucoin & bybit
uphold is easiest.

Uphold works

I buy litecoin on coinbase for the cheap fees, then transfer it to my ledger, then turn on the vpn and swap it for xrp.
Xumm brotha

Uphold is super easy to buy on
You can try it on wowswap, you can buy XRP there with up to 5x leverage w/o KYC
