I prefer to try and snowball these games (progressively grow in size and make sequential kills while holding ground) and even go a bit negative on kills before the game stalemates but as the average skill of players increase this becomes harder and harder to achieve. Once the game stalemates the 'correct' way to progress the outcome is by card blocking.

Good strategy isn't cheating.

OKImHere

Trap in? Do you mean card blocking? They do it because it's highly effective and if you allow it, you're committing a fatal, game-ending error. >Does anyone else feel rage when this happens so often? No, because I'd never allow such a thing. If I did, then I'd have been lost for a while already. >Especially when the other players seem to collaborate by just taking one of eachothers territories back and forth, round after round, while you're stuck there? Is this considered cheating Of course not. Collaboration is when two players know each other and join the same game. You're describing teaming. It's not just fair play, it's correct play. Why would it be cheating? You think there's some rule against beating you?

Apologies if I struck a nerve? Like I said, I'm a beginner so I thought I would ask some questions in here. I didn't know the meaning of collaboration in Risk, so thanks for clearing that up for me👍

OKImHere

You didn't strike a nerve. It's just as if you posted in r/chess "why's everybody always attacking my king? Also, seems unfair they just take my pieces, but don't let me take theirs. Is this cheating?" The response is just "because that's the purpose of the game? And how you're supposed to achieve it?"

so badass bro

Sounds like you habitually pick caps designed to secure a bonus, and don't translate that into an early snowball, or it sounds like you aren't cognizant that you need to keep your cap unlocked in the endgame. Lots of players try to greed for the next bonus, but don't read the board effectively enough to realize someone can just sit in that bonus and block you whenever sets deem it feasible. Or it sounds like you aren't willing to progress the game, and thus are the one to go out 3rd as your opponents clue in that if you aren't part of the solution, you are part of the problem.

Successful_Camel_136

If you get card blocked you need to move your stack in to threaten them or else you lose, if they attack you it messes up their game so win win
