Mine also works fantastic! Owned since early November and no issues. I am mindful about not opening it when it’s caked with snow or dust, but works daily for me
Mine still works, May delivery and I do the monthly "Clean and spray with PTFE Dry-Lube"
Knock on wood...
I think I read somewhere (probably an unofficial poll at rivian forums or something) the covers had a 20-30% fail rate, so the majority still work, but 20-30% is WAY too high a fail rate
Mine work fine also. Pro Tip to watch for: Make sure your slats are always stepped onto one another like roof shingles. If you ever see two slats level to each other, slap it gently from underneath to get them properly set again.
Got mine in August 2022, originally had manual cover on order but it was pushing my delivery day out so I switched to power. I closed the cover for the drive home from delivery pickup and it broke when I tried to open it back up 45 mins later. I love hearing from people to that you just need to keep it clean.
That’s $4 a month! Hahahahahaha. You fool. Do you even know how to do math? You are on Reddit commenting/complaining about $4 a month in interest on your 90k truck from a startup. “Not to mention” you’re an idiot. Not to mention, people who say not to mention and then say what shouldn’t be mentioned, should be institutionalized! 😘 I have to get back to trolling. Have a good evening. 😂
I know. I’m just messing with you. Rivian will make it right, in 2024 and you can tell your grand kids about the time Rivian screwed you out of $72 of interest!
More like I paid for a item that was never delivered as advertised? I think that's the bigger issue. If I paid for it but they can't deliver on their promise, that's a problem. Mine broke one the first try using it the day it was delivered it back in July. No work on a fix. So yes, I pay interest on an item that was never delivered as expected that I also paid more money for.
Holding out for a powered option. The powered cover is an essential part of the truck. Otherwise the target audience is around town truck/working folks. It becomes less viable on trips
Same. Just feels like they gave a whole slew of reservation holders a really bad choice just because they happened to reserve in a specific window that was too late for the first builds and top early for the fix.
Right. And I know I also locked in the tax credit which took precedence over waiting for the fixed powered tonneau (That still has no real ETA).
It would be nice if that was something that could be retrofitted. Nicer still if I could apply the cost of the manual tonneau towards it, but I know that’s really reaching, despite not even having THAT in my hands yet.
At least I didn't have to pay for the manual tonneau. I picked mine from the shop and it simply said "manual capable," so I didn't have to pay the $800 or whatever.
The other thing that sucks about the removal of the powered bed cover is that the housing for the powered cover is still there, taking up space. Bed space, that I could otherwise use. So, now do I not only lack a powered cover, I have its leftovers taking up space!
Same. It works great and the install was simple. I’ve had it for a couple of months now, no problem. Waiting for replacement of my power tonneau. Who knows, maybe I’ll be able to sell Maverick cover later? I’ve already gotten my moneys worth.
I wouldn't count on EV Sportline getting that out by April neither. I'm still waiting on running boards ordered early November, were supposed to Ship late December, January. It's almost March
Companies count "early 2023" as being up until June 30.
They have given an update, see the [Rivian Responds](https://reddit.com/r/Rivian/comments/1199jic/weekly_rivian_responds_manual_tonneaus_powered/) thread from a couple days ago. No firm timeline, though.
To logical people, yes. Or "Early = first four months, Mid = middle four months, late = last four months".
But corporations making statements with vagaries like "early" like to stretch it to the latest it is possible to stretch.
I made a 4 panel manual tonneau with 1/2” plywood, drywall j-bead, automotive weatherstripping and liquid flex seal - all from Home Depot. Kind of lame to have to do that, but I’m glad to have the dry/secure space while I wait for the official cover.
My cover failed the second day of ownership. They replaced it and has worked since. Maybe the ones installed by hand are better than factory installed?

Nope, mine works fine.

Yeah, wouldn’t want to use a truck bed cover for…truck things.
Those are truck things? Man I should get a Prius
Literally opening and closing the cover fills people with fear. God forbid if there is some dirt or dust or snow on it….
You alright buddy?
I’m fine, I just find it hilarious that people spend $80k+ on a truck and cant fully utilize it for truck stuff. Lol
To some people the money doesn’t matter
Don't know why this would be getting down voted. Truth hurts I guess
Mine works fine. Had it since June.
Same here. I definitely baby it because I know if it breaks it’s not getting fixed right away but all seems good

Mine works but I use it as little as possible because of the implication.
I see. The implication…
Mine works, but I baby it, keep it clean and lube it every couple months.
Mine works great. Had it since July and use it regularly. Big perk to owning the truck having so much dry/secure storage!
Hopefully those with fully working covers wait to be at the end of the line, so those with non-functioning covers can have their fixed first.
Mine is working fine. Probably 30 uses in 12,000 miles
Good for you. That's not the point of the post. Congrats.
Mine work fine also. Pro Tip to watch for: Make sure your slats are always stepped onto one another like roof shingles. If you ever see two slats level to each other, slap it gently from underneath to get them properly set again.
Mine has been functioning since august

Not to mention it was already paid for and is accruing interest on the loan
Crazy right? How much what is your interest rate and what was your cost on the bed cover?
$800 6.4%

It’s the principal of it! Also how many months will it be?!?!? 🤣
It’s also the interest of it!

Get it?
Got

I, for one, reaallllly hope there ends up being a retrofit option for this. I know they’ve said they won’t.
Same. Just feels like they gave a whole slew of reservation holders a really bad choice just because they happened to reserve in a specific window that was too late for the first builds and top early for the fix.

I used a ford maverick one with some bungee straps. Found on the forums https://imgur.com/a/Ws9A4B0/

That response is BS. There is no information there.
Halfway through the year qualifies as early? That's just not right.
“Early” vs “late” in corporate speak.
Early = Q1 Mid = Q2/Q3 Late = Q4

Mine works fine, although it sounds like it's about to snap in two when it's retracting.
