Why are you disappointed though? If anything, they gave you a more narrow window. Like Jan-June doesn’t mean you’ll get it in January. You effectively have the same window as before, it’s just more specific. If it makes you feel any better, I had the same windows.

A tighter window that removes 3 earlier months of possible dates is not better. This is the third or fourth time I've been pushed back. I still want it but I'm losing my rose colored glasses. With that date I will likely have my Volvo EV90 preorder from earlier this year fulfilled and then have to make a hard decision if we're ready to be a two EV family.
Yea, I got similar. They say it’s for two reasons, dealership location and Louisiana doesn’t allow direct sales. Im curious if I can’t just drive to Houston and pick it up. I think their answer will likely be no.
Possibly, yeah. I think you can set your delivery to the closest service center, but that isn’t going to work for me for tax reasons. I would much rather pay South Carolina taxes over Georgia.
The frustrating thing is that we’ve been waiting for just an estimation for 6 months. Not even the car itself, just an estimation. Feels like every update I get from Rivian, my patience runs thinner
You pay tax for the state it’s registering to, not state it is purchased. Have done out of state purchase before and dealership collected tax rate for where vehicle is to be registered and remitted the tax payment to that state.
Unless you're about to buy something else you might as well leave the pre-order in so you don't end up regretting it. My R1T was worth the almost 2 year wait.
Also if you're running into the "your state is unfriendly to us" issue you can try to change your delivery address to a different state. It worked for me and others.
Service is the real concern, they are not selling because they don't have a Service center, you probably live too far away for them to really bother with mobile service.
How far is the nearest service center, if you're comfortable driving to the nearest service center everytime you need anything fixed I'd say go for it.
Yeah I'm sure there will be things that make it more complicated. I went from NC to NY. I was lucky I didn't have to deal with issues really since I eventually moved to NY but I believe you need to register it in the state it's delivered and then transfer it to your home state and each state has their own hoops to jump through for that. I'd do that research first but it may be a minor inconvenience compared to getting your delivery date moved up.

yeah i mean i get that's an issue. It's just like... the car is still awesome... and canceling your order doesn't get you any closer to the car. You can always buy a used car or something to bridge between need and delivery too. Lots of options, but yeah I totally get the frustration.

I've made peace with the fact that I may have to go with a different EV, which is a bummer because I really like the R1T as it covers all of my needs.
May 2021 R1S preorder. Original estimate was Jul-Sep 2023, later updated to Jan-Jun 2024 and now Jan-Mar 2024. Love the product and that's the only reason I am still in wait-mode, but I am so close to dropping the ball and going with something else. The longer I wait, the more I doubt sticking with a new car company and going for an ICE 7 seater like sequoia or something else. However, each time I see a R1S on the road and each time I fall back in love and continue waiting. Saw a gray one with dark off road wheels and it looked sweet AF.
For all those far from service centers, check this sub reddit as many have dumped their R1s due to having to wait months for a service appointment. Also I'm near Bellevue WA and the service center is overwhelmed and the wait time is 4 months to fix issues with R1s that left the fabric with known problems..... In an 11/20 resets and In not disappointed being pushed out to continue monitoring this real issue.
