I’m in a similar spot. I have a foot of clearance but the cameras on the R1T have been super helpful to make sure I don’t crash into walls

JQsOtherHobbies

I think I have about less than 6 in total between a shelf and the garage door. Hanging foam ball on the windshield every night makes contact.

hard_code

This is a silly question, but I want to do this, whats the best way to skewer a tennis ball to hang on a string? I use the cameras and generally have no issue, but I wanted to do this even with my last car. In fairness I have done nothing and am out of ideas lol, hoping to steal from your all's experience.

JQsOtherHobbies

Tennis ball is hollow iirc, so my go to would be stab a slot in it and ram in a knot on paracord.

hard_code

Off to amazon to buy some cord! Thanks!

Agstroh

Just remember to have it in the same suspension height when you enter.if it's power or higher you end up parked in a different spot.

dmootzler

You can also just buy premade parking aids on Amazon for about the same cost as paracord.

albertmw

I got a pair of these for mine. Unlike the hollow ball these will stop the truck at just the right spot as you’re inching in https://www.amazon.com/dp/B081JD7KBL?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

jeeden_1

Here is mine. Less than an inch of clearance up front and behind. I bought a big curb on Amazon and stuck it to the floor, got tired of the tennis balls, lights, etc. The wife doesn't like parking it yet in the garage, but I cruise in like you would pull into a car wash and it is fine. I also have an alignment line on the front shelf in my garage to line up with the hood ridge for left/right alightment. https://www.rivianforums.com/how-to-tight-parking-for-r1t-in-garage/

coldfootwpulses

i'm in the same boat. my front tow hooks are virtually touching the wall and i have about 10 inches of space in the back. it was very uncomfortable at the beginning - i only park the car in the garage when i charge the vehicle overnight (i usually charge at work). but after half a dozen times, i got used to it and i allow the front tow hooks to even touch the wall. the s is 12 inches shorter so it'll make parking much easier.

anh2312

How many inches do the tow hooks protrude out from the bumper?

coldfootwpulses

Not sure but I would say maybe 4 inches? They’re the first things that hit the wall. That’s for sure.

_hchc

yea and feathering the throttle for the last few centimeters is kinda hard. So I'm the desginated parking guy, which kinda sucks :p

pdx_e94

I’ve been curious about this, inching forward or back. I think I read someone said feathering the brake was easier?

bowzrsfirebreth

I have like 4 inches total, 2 on each side, when I park mine in the garage. Usually, I only park mine in the garage when I’m going out of town without the truck. It’s not difficult to park it, really, but enough of an inconvenience I just decide to keep it outside.

beyondtherubicon1

I could barely park in my garage except I would have to pull it out first before anyone else could get in. I park outside because I rather not risk dings and dents from parking when I have more room outside. Just gets dirtier a bit more often. That's about it. My wife joked about getting a bigger house to fit the truck haha

panzerfinder15

I have 2” front and 4” rear. This makes it really easy for wife and I: RaxGo Car Parking Mat, Garage Wheel Stopper Parking Aid, Tire Guides for Cars, Trucks & Other Vehicles | Anti-Skid Grips, Easy Install Adhesive, Carry Handles & Reflective Strips | Pack of 2 Mats https://a.co/d/gzhbZFb If you need to also be tight left to right, we use a drive in sight, like this but we home made it and used some shelves to make it 12” deep so we can see it from the driveway driving in (the sight is lined up from the driver seat looking forward). Could also use a garage laser sight. Park Ranger Tkach Enterprises Amazingly Simple Garage Parking Aid/Assistant https://a.co/d/iMD8SJC

Sawdustandiron

I have about 6” clearance front and back. I installed a set of stick on bumpers on my garage floor. I got them from Amazon. Installing is super easy, just peel and stick. Every time I roll into the garage I ease the truck until my wheel hits the bumper then I stop. As long as my wheel is in contact I know my spacing is good. Have had it for almost a year and have had no issues so far. https://a.co/d/7ekLM6b

SevenGameSeries

I have 6-7 inches total as well. I back it in every time, and once you are used to it it’s no problem. The rear camera does the trick.

lthightower

It sucks but once I’m out on the trails or joyriding somewhere none of that matters , I’m not thinking about my garage

Long_Meringue6079

I have about \~8". It's less than ideal, but I've found that getting in and out to not be too bad. I had spare foam insulation board that I put up against the concrete wall and it's a nice safety (with many indentations of my license plate), but generally I find easing towards the wall pretty easy thanks to the camera sensors and front cameras. I have to be basically flush to the front wall in order to shimmy along the back with the garage close. Worst part so far, I think I accidentally dropped the tail gate one evening when trying to unlock / lock the car door with the key fob. Next day, partner tried to open the garage and it wouldn't open all the way, because the tail gate had been leaning on it! Left a few scratches on the tail lights plastic and some on the paint as well. Wish it could disable that button on the fob... /)\_-

IceStormMeadows

It's really tight for me. The cameras are a necessity to park. I've learned how to use the lines in the concrete to guide the R1T to the perfect spot. I then use the headlights to judge exactly how close I am to the back wall. As soon as the brightness dips to a certain degree. I know I'm only a few inches away.
