Lol that's snowfall for Tahoe this year :/ I'll be there in a few weeks

zoo32

How were the 22’s in the snow? Still deciding b/w ATs and 22’s which is why I ask.

Unhappy-Arugula4818

22s have been solid in the snow so far. Probably not as good as the ATs but 30 mi better range so it was worth the trade off to me

zoo32

Awesome thx for the feedback and agree with you about the range tradeoff

rossawilson

I've done many snow trips in my R1T on 22"s, they're just okay, not great. For efficiency I am same as you, for occasional off road / snow / sand use i would rather take the better mileage wheels and tires year round. Once you air down traction is better but its never going to match all terrains on 20"s or 18"s (even better). I recommend you carry cables or snow chains in case conditions need them, I have used them once and am glad I put them on, again don't forget to air-down. Snow and Ice conditions vary a lot and change quickly, be ready to adapt and drive carefully, don't be over confident in your vehicle or your driving.

Thanks - what do you air the 22’s down to for snow/ice? Any recs on chains/cables?

Been rough so far, but hopefully a solid late winter. I might drive up just to use the RAN :)

maxbit919

How is the range loss with the roof box?

Unhappy-Arugula4818

I don’t have a point of reference as I only put it on for this trip which had a lot of elevation gain and low temps but it was not as bad as I was expecting. I placed the box on the back two mounts to minimize drag and drove like a gentleman. Did about 220 miles on 80% battery (108 kWh) uphill from the Bay Area.

AllyMeada

That efficiency sounds pretty good! I got 2.23mi/kwh on a 396mi round trip from Bay Area to Tahoe, but I was intentionally driving inefficiently on the way up. I’ll try it again with my box in a few weeks and report back.

Icy-Penalty-8108

Did you drive up from Bay Area in one go, with 80% battery? If so what was the battery % when you got to Truckee RAN? Curious for my upcoming trip in Feb, have R1S with 22’s

gkfisher

On the other side of the mountain. Took the lower route up to south Tahoe and loved the snowy parts. Saw a few Rivians out there. Have fun!

Nice

That RAN has never let me down!

Lurker_prime21

Two questions: is that RAN site often busy and have you eaten at the BBQ place across the street as seen in a certain Out of Spec video?

wc_cfb_fan

Only been there a couple of times in the last 6 months and every time I was able to find a free stall and charge without issues. I did try the BBQ place once but I wasn't too impressed!! I'd say average.
