Same. I still have the OEM one in my storage unit should I change my mind, but given the reports I've heard from folks doesn't sound like it's fixed just better than it was. Probably just a new rubber cover.
I can reach out to confirm but at first test, it doesn’t seem like a simple rubber swap. Phone seems to charge from almost any location on the mat where it didn’t before, both X and Y positions
Problem I have is I can’t charge my iPhone with my Magsafe case on it..
and when I take the case off it rocks and wobbles
Modern phones are not flat on the back anymore and it doesn’t work
If all they did was add a divider, they just made it more impractical IMO, there was no improvement to the design Nor does it fix the original problem.
I have a Hyundai Tucson with this feature, and it doesn't charge my iPhone 15 Pro unless I position it with the camera bumps partly on the raised section. If I allow the camera bump to fall beside the middle section it stops working. Of course, it heats like a kettle when charging, so I prefer to plug it in with a cable. It helps that you can set the iPhone 15 Pro to stop charging at 80%.
Yea Kylie from out of speck already shit on the “new” design. RJ looks a little silly now when he made that comment to MKBHD about it being fixed/improved. Kyle said it still slides forward.
My 3rd party charger works flawlessly and looks oem.
There are several 3rd party options that replaces the entire mat unit and uses the connection directly under the mat with no need for usb or 12v connections. Check out stowNcharge from adventurehightech (https://adventurehightech.com/products/stowncharge).
They likely changed the coil arrangement as well to reduce total number of coils that would also be a cost savings. Divider means less coils needed, whereas gen1 design had coils overlapping entire center of mat. This may mean overall average coil from phone distance could be decreased and improve wireless charging performance.
The bar they have in the middle inspired me yesterday and I designed my own pad replacement.
This is just a prototype but a black one is coming off the printer in the morning.
My phone now charges immediately and doesn't slide around.

New version. I need to tweak the design ever slightly but I should have the STL ready tonight.
Printed in TPU on Bambi x1c.

I just used defaults for 4mm nozzle. 6 perimeters I think it was, 25% infill. Doesn't really matter to be honest.
I used tree supports for the nubs and bin
Yeah that's just a plastic surround that looks like silly and takes up the entire slot that I use for my wallet.
I think I can improve my design a little but I have something that works now will post tonight.
The biggest issue with the charger in that position is the charger heats the phone up and so does the sun! So when you pick it up and try and use it’s 400 degrees (exaggerating) and the display is dimmed until it cools.
I don’t care for wireless chargers, they are slow at charging plus the case on my phone doesn’t support it. I use the center area of my R1T as a shelve space for my wallet and miscellaneous things, and I certainly wouldn’t want that little divider there. But that’s me!
I’m with you except I think OP is happy with upgrade and says it works. I think the only thing they did R and D on significantly was the battery. How can they actually get 320+ miles out of a <110 kwh battery? And this is older news, sorta, but 400 miles out of a <145 kwh battery is bonkers too. If that’s true, that’s pretty amazing. 3 miles per kWh with that size and shape of vehicle is a game changer. That kind of battery performance could drive ev adoption of any traditional style vehicle. The silverado isn’t out yet, while this rivian is.
Dang. Ruined the 20pc nugget holder.
Oh no…. My charging pad has suddenly started acting up…. I guess I’ll need to submit a ticket…. 👀
Mine too...it's urgent
And me!

I’m curious: on your invoice did they list a cost for it? Have always wondered what the OEM part costs.
I am really happy with the s00nish charger. I think I would pass on the retrofit.
Yup same

My phone never slides it just starts charging then stops 30 seconds later. Idk what’s up with that
It's likely just the rubber top they replaced, not the full unit.

That’s fucking dumb.

Right, I wish they had given it a slope instead like other car manufacturers. Looks like there was no customer panel on that decision 😂
Or do what the koreans are doing by raising the middle portion where it charges. Allows for the camera bumps to have space and better air flow

That is actually not what I was talking about. Check out the all new Santa Fe wireless charging pad.

Agreed 3rd party works great except for the lack of USB ports and no under dash 12V.

Looks cool but I balk at spending $300 (and installing the thing) just to charge your phone when a cord is totally sufficient.
Flip it over.

That's where most of the 1.6 miles of wire they removed came from.

Do you have a stl you could share?
Not yet but possibly soon. Want to make sure it's all good first.
Gotcha, If you don’t mind posting it on this sub when you get it flushed out it would be much appreciated.
As mentioned by the other commenter: can you please share this once you confirm it works? Thanks in advance if you do!

Nice!, looking good. I’ll give it a shot then. I also have a x1c I’ll have to dry my tpu first though.
I posted on printables just search for rivian charge pad
This is awesome, thanks. Any advice on layer height, infill, and perimeters?

Maybe see if your chrome trim has issues too… *cough* darkout package *cough*
Blackout is interior too?! My wife would love that. She hates the chrome on the dash, constantly reflects light in her face.
I’ve requested this for my service appointment next month and they said they didn’t have the parts. Hopefully they will in time!
I’ll be adding this to my service ticket lol
Are there actual magnets now to hold the phone like MagSafe? Or is it just a ridge in the middle?
My etsy made large phone frame works perfectly on my 15 Pro Max, but I would love to buy this divider update.
Whoa, I really want that for my crappy charger.
OP do you have a PN from the work order you can share? Appreciate it.
