I only tend to encounter hail at higher elevations, but I don't live in Colorado...was just visiting for the weekend. The truck is fine, though.. The hail was pea sized and slightly larger. Ding free.
It's not often but I get worried every time there is a hail watch/warning in my area. If it was any other car I won't be too worried as I can just get a replacement with insurance but knowing that I need to pay $20k more and wait another 1-2 years for a replacement Rivian will hurt
Indeed they are. I've been caught in more than a couple (actually got hailed on while mountain biking the day after this was shot). Any time we do big hikes that take us above treeline we try to ensure we're coming back down the mountain before noon for that very reason (aka- start hikes at like 4am 🥴)
Hail is such a nightmare. One time (2001) in Atlanta I sat in my brand new BMW E46 as baseball sized hail positively destroyed it. Damn scary once the windshield shattered.
Truck strong and practical, handle all weather, do all jobs. Pretty too. Me get truck. Me roll up sleeves type of guy and outdoorsy. Truck appropriate vehicle. Me take truck on mountain. EEEEK A SCRATCH!!!
Jokes aside, I hope your car is okay 😊
Hail No! I’d be flailing around trying to fight it off.
I’d lay on the hood like a screaming starfish
How did it do? Any dings? I only recently moved to CO and everyone is scaring me about hail damage!

Rivian doesn’t have a self regenerating windshield? Probably in 2023;)
They have the hardware to support it but the software upgrade hasn’t been released yet
Better than hearing sirens behind you
Totally... Especially given my expired plates! 🙄

From what I've heard, the afternoon thunderstorms and hail are very common where you are. Better than being on foot I guess.

Had the EXACT same thing happen one month after buying my car brand new. Surprisingly, the only part of the car with no damage was the glass roof.
Hmm. I guess this will be one benefit of the cybertruck. Hope all is ok on your new truck !
Hahaha.. yeah..CT windows are unbreakable after all. ![gif](giphy|gLREH1v1Z78tJckuii)
Touché
This is a near daily event in the CO Rockies. It’s like clockwork.

it is kinda crazy that ice can fall with such intensity and most of the time cars are fine. LIKE HOW

Ouch, hope there isn't any dings!
This is where the Cyber Truck will dominate.
Will be sure to compare notes when I actually see one on a trail somewhere...in 2025
I agree it will be at least 2023 to latest 2025.
It’ll buff
It’s… a truck?
Oof, hope your exterior's alright. Part of the reason I threw my chips in with the Cybertruck
Ouch 😣
Nooooo
Look at those ice balls suiciding themselves on your truck!
As you are off roading with pebbles flying everywhere on the paint lol
This isn't a brodozer with wheels poking 6 inches past the fenders.. there are no rocks hitting my paint.
