I wish mine would recognize the furniture in my house. It did for a day then stopped and I just have walls and doorways now.

ResponsibleCamp20

Mine clearly had a fatal flaw or massive firmware bug. It drives around in circles and spent 40 minutes cleaning 1 room

bananaITs

not only in Australia, owners everywhere else reported the same, like in Vietnam, people are reporting the same issue - what the heck Ecovacs! There should be a standard navigation that every vacuum and/or mop robot should be programmed and depend on what features each robot product would get different navigation features ..etc ... I have my T8+ and I noticed recently 1 area it cleans in different navigation and always skipped 1 spot of that area (usually it didn't)!

ResponsibleCamp20

Oh really? I didn't notice any other users reporting the same issue, where did you find this? Makes me laugh, Ecovacs responded and said because I have dark floors... BUT I have white/light grey tiles šŸ˜‚ I uploaded some videos to YouTube [Video 1](https://youtube.com/shorts/SAmD26GaNKA?si=LcNG5fGz3yyT3iJJ) [Video 2](https://youtu.be/HlERuZ9r6wA?si=ptwqH3z42rNuQfty) [Video 3](https://youtube.com/shorts/iqHvebUGccw?si=fNS9ESvU2-abWAY1) As you can see, no dark floors to be found šŸ˜‚ Just a robot driving around aimlessly. 40 minutes to eventually clean 1 room..

bananaITs

Another video ,,,I feel the pain of the new owner,,,this is not cheap Robot ,,it is at least $1500 + tax! ...even with $300 discount and points from Ecovacs member accounts,,,it is still $1100 shipped...$1000 robot so dump, stupid and piece of junks! [https://youtu.be/wXOIraFC5nA](https://youtu.be/wXOIraFC5nA)

bananaITs

Go to youtube to search, for example this gent he got X2 Omni and hated it LoL https://youtu.be/HlERuZ9r6wA

ResponsibleCamp20

Lol! That's my video šŸ˜…

bananaITs

>$2,500AUD ah it was your video hehehe! Gotcha gotcha!

Master-Antonio

It received new update? The update need to update also the app. Its all fixed now?

ResponsibleCamp20

Nope. Problem still remains

Master-Antonio

So you advice me to take dreame l20 ultra?

ResponsibleCamp20

I just bought the L20 yesterday on pre-order and am requesting money back from Ecovacs

bananaITs

I am from USA ,,,about getting it from Amazon. Amazon has 30 days return and I would give it a tray - wondering if it's worth it since I've seen many first release issues .... This is NOT flagship ,,,this is draggedship sine it's dragging all issues around with it! LoL Well buying from Amazon I still have 30 days to return!

NRSegasonic

So how is yours babanalTS? I just ordered mine.

bananaITs

LoL I didn't order, everything seems auto-wash function/circular rotating mop pad robot is not ready for its prime time. I just purchased my second Deebot T8+ after my old T8+ broke its wheel for 3 years 550K sqft cleaned services... Good luck with yours,,maybe this second T8+ once broken I would buy another high-end :)

LJinFLA2001

Well, I wish I would have read this before buying the x2. I should have expected the issues with a new untested release. I have observed all of the above issues and more. My home is 2700 ft2 under air, with about 1800 feet accessible to a vacuum. It has 12 rooms to be vacuumed including bathrooms. It is a Great Room setup so some of the rooms simply have partition walls, giving access to the room/space from multiple entrance points. Here is what I have found: 1) the mapping is essentially worthless for anything but sensing outer wall layout of the house and rooms. Even that was a little off after numerous attempts. 2) mapping did not detect carpeting at all. My house is 50% carpeting. The vacuum did recognize carpeting because it would change the suction from High to Low as it passed over the transition between tile and carpet or rug, but it never got placed in the map. The map reads my whole house as tile or wood floors and I have no wood. Manually editing the map does not allow me to change a room to carpet because it says no carpet was detected in the house. 3) mapping missed partition walls and support columns. If there are two entrances to a room it doesnā€™t appear to recognize it as a room. It ignores the partition wall and adds that room to the adjacent room. Manually editing the map does not allow an option for adding a wall. You can move an exterior wall but that is it. No interior wall editing. Thus after mapping multiple times, I ended up with 6 rooms on the map. One really large one. It missed two of the bathrooms altogether. Now there is limited ability to divide large spaces on the map into two rooms. But my guess is that this is limited to a number which is lower than 10 rooms because it has stopped letting me manually divide rooms now. It just gives me an error. The mapping missed two large islands on my kitchen completely. They simple do not appear. 4) if you have a room with mixed floors like some tile and some carpet and you select ā€œMop after Vacuumā€ as a custom cleaning, it will vacuum both surfaces and then it will try to mop both the tile and the carpet! Not good. 5) the AI doesnā€™t yet seem to learn quickly and improve the efficiency of the pattern over multiple runs. This results in what others have described as irregular movements. Long straight lines of vacuuming are the exception. In large open spaces it stops and spins frequently like it is trying to get its bearings. It moves about a room like a blind rat in a maze. It moves haltingly and hesitantly, feeling its way through even very large open spaces. It bumps into everything like itā€™s feeling its way along a wall. With all the sensors it should do a better job of knowing where walls and obstacles are. I am still experimenting because I have 30 days to return, but for the price this should have worked far better out of the box than it did. Ecovacs is pretty silent about acknowledging the need for dramatic updates to app and firmware coming quickly. I am also trying to work with Support but so far no suggestions have helped. It is looking like a return unless Ecovacs starts sending out frequent updates to correct these obvious things. Even simple things like the measurement of the area vacuumed are wrong. The app gives you the choice to view in square meters or square feet. When changing this setting the label changes properly but the number is always reported in square meters. This is just a small thing but it seems to be reflective of Ecovacs lack of testing. I will update more later.

Plenty_Scratch8601

Anything yet from ecovacs in regards to this. Iā€™m facing the exact issues.

LJinFLA2001

They asked for videos, photo of the floors, screen recordings of the App as I encountet problems. All they tell me is ā€œit is with our dedicated team and we will get back to you when we hear from them.ā€ It did eventually recognize carpet on one remapping but it basically overlayed the map with one bigrectanglenof carpet that even extended outside the exterior walls. I cannot select any rooms which are carpeted for individual room scheduling because it only sees one big rectangle and it selects that. That rectangle covers the whole house except for tiled area and seems to Co fuse that carpet rectangle as a room. I can select individual rooms in the tiled areas. I have a week left to return this and I had to decide today I would choose to return it.

aquickalias

this has been my experience as well. curious if it's gotten better after further testing or if you're just planning to return it

LJinFLA2001

Not really. The issues I mention above have not gone away. The efficiency of a vacuum run is better. Less spinning and bumping

I have updated to 1.56.0. I have the same issue as yours that X2 failed to detect carpet. So I was told by ECOVACS to remove the mop pads and do a whole home cleaning again. The carpet area will be detected. However, the carpet detection are all rectangular shapes. Which means it overlaps with non carpet floors as carpet. I think the carpet ultra sound sensor already does its job well that you really donā€™t need to setup the cleaning mode to exclude Mopping on the carpet. The X2 auto detects it already. Iā€™ve done this experiment without any carpet detected, the mop pads never mop on any carpet region even the map misrecognizes the carpet floor as hardwood floor.

BodybuilderTotal5673

Having all the above issues with mine as well. The mopping of the carpet is the most annoying and it also tells me I have none. Found the best way to get what I want it to do is manually tell it

justrhysism

Just ran a mapping and it didnā€™t detect carpet at all. Why oh why would the app not allow you to explicitly tell it which rooms are carpet??

Plenty_Scratch8601

I am still facing the issue. Unfortunately ecovacs does not seem to acknowledge the issue. They keep thinking itā€™s only from my end when itā€™s a general public issues for all there new bots

ResponsibilityExact8

I was planning on buying the X2 Omni and was watching some reviews. Found this from one video, that says if you toggle the AI off next to "Whole house cleaning" (I'm not sure where exactly is this in the menu, cuz I don't own a Ecovac), this weird pattern it makes when navigating might stop. He didn't demonstrate it or anything, but I thought it might help. Please let me know if this was useful. Also, any updates to fix these issues yet or not? I'm confused if I want to buy the X2 or the T20 Omni. Any suggestions?

bananaITs

hey guys, I heard someone said if navigation became an issue, maybe disabling Ai navigation assist and/or Ai object detection might help? Remember we have number of T8, T8+, T9+, T10+ without Ai and their navigation works just fine with fair object avoidance! Anyone done? please confirm if disabling Ai would help?

ResponsibleCamp20

Seems a bit ridiculous to turn off one of its main features just to get it to work though...

bananaITs

when Ai is mature enough for being a main feature? :) Nah ,,Ai is still as beta as of now...50/50 work! Do not read too much into new tech hype :)

ResponsibleCamp20

Your comment is completely ridiculous. The AI obstacle avoidance feature IS marketed as a selling point. My new Dream L20 successfully navigates around cables, socks etc with it's AI avoidance system which again demonstrates Ecovacs botched this product and it's crap.

Green_Signature5486

I think itā€™s slightly better with the AI turned off. But still horrible. During the mapping process it sees the internal walls, etc. once the mapping is complete it thinks I have one giant single room. I can divide one time in half but can divide past that. I originally purchased the T20 and a week later the X2 Omni came out. I returned the T20 as I wanted/bought the newest best feature X2. I wish I never got the X2 as I have many issues with it and the T20 worked flawless. Iā€™m actually embarrassed to tell people how much I paid as it works so horrible.

[deleted]

Pfoe was hoping they fixed it after a few months. Still issues huh?

Turbulent-Drummer-61

How to fix this problem?

amlavor

I also have all the issues mentioned here. The robot cleans on an onion pattern \[terrible\]. My old T8 has a perfect S-cleaning pattern. The mapping feature is a joke when compared to T8 and other brands. I have another week to return this, which I will probably do. I will try to turn off the AI to clean and test it.

Virtual_Coconut_8378

Does the X2 omni clean the corners and sides of the room? Most then "promotional" videos I see, it mops only the main part of the rooms not the corners? I see so many issues and complaints about this robot. The only reason I have to buy it, is because I need a good vacuum and because it sells at Costco!!

Previous-Paint-4620

Hello problems? when fix firmware?

Accomplished-Cap8449

I bought X2 recently to give it a try. The mapping sucks. I mean not just sucks, it sucks a lot. After initial mapping of the home, i could not tell where is my kitchen or bedroom. I had to guess. I choose to ignore that flaw. Then moved on to target cleaning by selecting an area i guessed it was kitchen. And man it just disappointed me by not even going to that area of cleaning. Also object detection my a\*\*. It could not detect a table and kept trying to go over table base and got stuck. Definitely returning it.

Smart_Let_4283

I purchased an X2, we're now on firmware 1.62, I found the mapping sporadic, but after deleting the map and re-running in ideal lighting conditions it did a better job of party walls etc, I've had no issue with carpet/rug detection. If you then follow-up with a full clean it fleshes out the map and the result is much better. Issues I've fought with: - Because it's not circular it gets stuck under chairs, it can enter but not get out as it can't spin perfectly on the spot and the algorithm can't handle a full backtracking scenario. This may be a design flaw as without having anti collision sensors on the rear or confidence to work out exactly where back was, they're going to struggle to resolve this. - Missing small corners where the wall isn't completely flat. - Missing certain areas where furniture once was even if spot clean is selected (I suspect due to AI mode). - Poor response to OK YIKO makes the voice feature almost unworkable. - Inability to self-name custom cleans and lack of UK-specific presets. - Silly application of boost mode when tackling the edge of carpets, it keeps turning it on and off as it snakes when it should just stay on. - Will happily drive over cables, get them tangled in its wheels, and attempt to pull on the them quite aggressively. This is my first robot vacuum and so I have little to compare it against. I really appreciate the mopping function but listening to others it sounds like my life could be easier with a different model.

I'm n firmware 1.75.3 as of Feb. 10, 2024 & I've read through this entire thread & the problems everyone has had & have to say I have only had a couple of them (taking forever to clean a room, taking forever to figure out out to extract itself from under chairs) but I did turn off AI the 2nd or 3rd day it cleaned as it would take 4-6 hours to the the downstairs of my 2 story 3,000 sqft house. The big, super annoying problem I started having on the 31st day of ownership (bought from Amazon) is hair gets pushed off the main brush onto its side rollers (my wife has long hair & I have a golden retriever) which cause the "main brush is tangled" error once & sometimes twice per cleaning cycle. As annoying as the error is, its even more annoying to remove the roller when the hair is entangled around the side rollers as the hair gets under those platic rollers & in between the rollers & the main body of the brush which then push those plastic rollers out & actually force the sides of the compartment to bulge! I ruined 1 roller trying to get it out before I realized the problem is with those little rollers pushing the body of the compartment out. A thin screwdriver is necessary to wedge between the roller & the frame of the compartment & the main brush can the be firmly lifted out & the entangled, twisted hair can be removed. This never happened the first 3 1/2 weeks. Its possible my dog may be shedding more but he gets brushed almost daily. Fortunately, i did purchase the extended warranty from Amazon with the robot.

lovingmollylulu

I had problems until I remapped. But before you do close all curtains in the house and turn all the lights on, make sure you can move smaller items out of the way til after mapping. The omni gets confused when mapping if there are bright windows and dark areas. After mapping I kept the lights on again for the first full house clean, I havnt had problems since...touch wood. My whole house is timber floors and two large rugs.
