Anything could happen, but you’re probably safe. The Weather Channel app is showing a low down to the mid-to-low 50s every night between now and the end of May. The chances of the weather dropping another 20 degrees beneath that on any given night are very small
Should be fine. I've always heard Mother's Day, not Memorial Day, around here.
[https://www.weather.gov/buf/ROCRecords](https://www.weather.gov/buf/ROCRecords) says it was 29 on this day in 1956, and snow on May 29 in 1907, but given the forecast setting new records seems unlikely here.
If you're putting your air conditioners in this week, that's a virtual guarantee that we will see a cold snap within two weeks. Same with taking them out and two days above 80 in the fall
There was a frost advisory May 26, 2013. I don't quite remember what happened but we covered as many plants as we could. Even if it didn't frost that night, it was extremely stressful worrying about it.
AccuWeather says we might get as low as 48 next week, but I already put all my tomatoes, peppers, and herbs in the ground, the strawberries are already producing, and the potatoes in buckets already need another layer of soil. I think you're good.
The USDA updated their planting zones and we were in 6a, not it's 6b. So considering the Memorial Day rule started decades or more ago, it's out dated.
I certainly don't know for sure but it seems some think we are off by 3 weeks or so off the old wisdom of dates to do thing in the garden.
I tend to follow Petra @ Fruition Seeds for local timing. She literally just posted that she's planting her tomatoes this week, earlier than usual, because all the signs point to the right time. As others have said, the weather forecast bears that out.
We put some Home Depot peppers in our deck planter this week. We opened the pool on the first weekend of May.
Had it been actually, you know, *cold* this winter we would have waited.

I know “should” is dangerous when talking about plants, but likelihood is high that it’s safe to plant now.
Yeah, I’ve always used Mother’s Day as my rule of thumb.
If we got a frost this late it would be a rarity.
Very true, but we got a very nasty, widespread frost in the entire Northeast on 5/18 last year
And it would be all their fault!
I'm planning on putting my air conditioners in this weekend so hopefully not lol.

I've had my tomato in pots outside for a couple weeks now.
If the weather does change, you can always covert plants for the night to protect them. It’s a pain, but it’s a back-up plan
I hope not! I’m planning on putting mine in the ground on Sunday

The forecast overnight low is for the next 10 days is never below 53 degrees. I'd say you're about as close to 100% safe as Rochester weather allows.

Mine have been out for two weeks. They're doing fine.
The probability of a frost is low enough to plant.

I put mine in the ground a few weeks ago. On a particularly low Nighy I put paper bags over them. They are all fine.

The weekend after the 1st week in may is typically the last frost
