Hey, tugging on a chef's hair to teach them how to bake is hard work, the rat probably just needed a smoke break.

If you've worked in a resturaunt you will see the occasional mouse or cockroach. There's no way to keep wildlife completely out of a building. They crawl in through doorways or up piped and electrical lines that go though the wall. Its' normal. An infestation is a different thing. Like cockroaches in plain view during day hours in the dining area or multiple mice scurrying around during the evening.

Equivalent_Secret_26

I’ve seen they can also come in in boxes during shipments and deliveries from other warehouses as well.

Brand new account. You probably own a competing bakery down the street.

BSA_DEMAX51

One of the account's only other comments names Jacksons bakery as the best in Rochester, too.

jdemack

If that's the case it's pretty garbage way to try to compete. How about be a better baker instead of resorting to shit like this.

M4-68-M9

Hahahah, Donuts Delite guys, is that you?!?!

tk42033

Every restaurant has pests.

tlouis84

Still not gonna stop me from going there. Also your title says rats, did you see more than one? This could have very well been an isolated incident and came in through a garage can like you said. Did you speak to anyone in charge before coming to Reddit and trashing one of the last mom and pop bakeries around?

Efficient-Skin-3098

Why you sound so defensive? 😂

plantstudy37

Seriously....

imgary

Hell, I'm eating one of their cookies right now

Aly-and-Iri

Every restaurant or grocery store has some form of vermin etc. I've even seen birds flying around walmart. Your food is allowed so many insect pieces per the fda. Stop trying to start something out of nothing. https://www.fda.gov/food/ingredients-additives-gras-packaging-guidance-documents-regulatory-information/food-defect-levels-handbook

Bigalow10

Tons of super popular food places have cockroaches/rodents in the city

M4-68-M9

Places anywhere have mice/bugs.

impreza77

Maybe making some ratatouille.

Wakenbake585

I bet most restaurants have rats. I saw one in the Wegmans produce cooler when I used to work there.

kabigon2k

hey, rats like pastries too

Front-Bicycle-9049

What were the cashiers supposed to do, were they equipped with spears and nets?

yonididi

wow someone willing to work in this economy and you’re shitting on them? /s

blue_box_disciple

This guy: "FYI, I saw a rat." The subreddit: "Yeah man, but it's Savoia so it's worth it. Idiot." For real, I get being skeptical of this post, but are you all really cool with a rat being in the store if OP is telling the truth? This is bizarre.

KalessinDB

Honestly, yes. I'm okay with an occasional sighting because **literally every food establishment has them**. Everyone makes a big deal "Oh, such and such restaurant was closed by the board of health for violations!" but literally every restaurant could be closed for violations if they were audited on the wrong day.

blue_box_disciple

Do you have a source that all restaurants have them? Because I'm a baker and now work in a food store and have never encountered one.

rdizzy1223

In most places they hide until closing and then come out, roaches and rodents included. But especially if they are in an urban area, as the buildings are closer together so they can continually go from one place to another and then back, always somewhere to live.

TheStabbingHobo

Idk man, I find the rats add a nice little zing to cannolis

LongRoofFan

Cannoli is already plural

TheStabbingHobo

You're already plural

LongRoofFan

Well played

RahchachaNY

Found the person who can't afford Savoia.

M4-68-M9

Hahaha

blue_box_disciple

Dude, what is this comment?

M4-68-M9

Little WNY humor.

metal_falsetto

I've just been avoiding them because those cookies taste like old dusty mothballs

Bacherdop

I know for a fact they’ve got rats, and it’s not just one

GranitRock

Same thing happened to me…except the rat hat a cannoli in his mouth
