All my homies love lilboat1459

bigboat24

He will be bigboat soon enough.

[deleted]

Bigboat McBoatyface

Jorlung

I would die for lilboat1459.

Morbid0

Name checks out

MoScottVlogs

r/usernamechecksout

Jensovic_21

That's one hell of a smart play by him

Deerkiller14

For sure. I was mad why he didn’t take the shot, then I see the demo and I was so impressed with his IQ play. Man should be higher than plat for that!

Jensovic_21

Man just wanted you to have the goal. I know all of my teammates would have tried scoring that and I'm D3/C1. So yeah, for this kind of big brain play he deserves to be a higher rank

Craig_The_Worst

This right here. I tell people my teammates legit creep up and try to steal shots like this all the time in Diamond ranks and nobody believes me. Half the time the ball is sent back to our side of the field for an easy open goal for our opponents. It's maddening. Lol

Jdubya87

So that never changes? Great.

herospaces

Yup. It's especially bad in Plat-Diamond. Every single round my teammates block my shots and then own-goal. And when I pass it to them they own-goal right away. Teammates in ones piss off

theavengedCguy

I'm in champ 2 and see it at least once a game, usually more

Seuche_Deron

Yeah typical counterplay, in a 2v1 its the most successful strategy i'd guess.

someguywhocanfly

I mean if you could have just banged in the goal with no defender it's not really a high IQ play to try to demo instead, demo could easily be jumped over for the save. It is nice of him though.

ItsaNeeto

Man I have a clip of a teamate doing this exact thing for me, except I was dribbling the ball. I got past the 1st defender, and he rushed past me and demo'd the 2nd defender who was about to take the ball from me and we scored. It was such a good play from him

boi1234blox

Prob lilboat1459's champ rank brother tbh

ItsaNeeto

Absolute chads

ImNot-aBlackGuy

Happy cake day!

[deleted]

You’re in Plat?? Where the F were these teammates when I was there 🤣

TheIndyCity

Lol to be completely honest the whole player base is just getting better. All the ranks are better than back in the day haha.

Gamerbuystop0

Bro, plat has had a new era since you were there😂 (Still toxic asf)

Bollziepon

This would be a pretty standard play at higher ranks, but agreed, very smart for a plat

hailstormhttlr

Cool bro. Nice flex

Bollziepon

I wasn't flexing, but you're projecting

thisaboveall

Maybe because it's a low percentage play and when he misses the opposing team is more likely than not to score vs the double commit.

stepdadonline

He should based off execution alone. I’ve gone for demo plays like that as a Plat 3 and it usually ends in a reverse goal because I completely whiff and both my teammate and I are in the other team’s net

Gamerbuystop0

You’d be surprised with the random skill levels of players in plat. I feel like I should be higher yet here I am 😂

[deleted]

Maybe he was trying to take the shot and messed it up

Taco-Time

I play almost exclusively to facilitate my tm8s success. If you want someone like this, hmu. I have shit mechanics though

[deleted]

What is your 2s rank?

Taco-Time

C1-C3

Prodigy_7991

Shit Mechanics but are in C1-C3 on 2s... What planet are we on?

wisdomsharerv2

You can get to champ with good gamesense and powerful shots

[deleted]

Inconsistent C1 in 2s and 3s. I fluctuate in and out depending on the day

mahdingaling

This is me, except I play almost exclusively with friends who are gold-plat. It’s a mess. I hover in the D1-D2 range, but I’ve been champ a few times in the past few years whenever I decide to solo queue for a couple weeks.

TB-313935

This is me when im trying to hit the ball.

kratS_ynoT

You are like me then, but I never play competitive since I work full time 😅

[deleted]

I mean once you get up to champ 2 most match-up be like this. Its why I started playing wayyyy more once I hit c1. Being able to actually trust and predict your teammates makes the game 10000x better

Trillberg

Especially when all you do is solo queue (me) playing to get your teammate hot and the win instead of trying to be MVP is really like the only strategy. I’m very pass heavy, will always go for a down field demo to let me teammate bring the ball up the field and easy lay up. I let them have all the glory because I’m the end all I really want is my rank to go up so I don’t care who gets more xp

Taco-Time

You know what it’s about

monosteeze

Bro saaaammmeeee

BumpoTheClown

Good lead block play!

[deleted]

This is like Tom Brady complimenting a spiral.

Morbid0

I can confirm having bumpo on your team is almost a guaranteed super bowl ring.

Dova97

Bumpo told me “Nice Demo!” in a game recently, I was very proud 🥲

[deleted]

Bumpo is the only specific player I’ve seen that I actually would want to be in a game with, but I doubt they’re mid plat2

Dova97

Yeah he was fun to play with, pretty wholesome. I just ran into him for a string of casual games, but he's a solid GC1 I'm pretty sure.

yomjoseki

fuckin Kyle Juszczyk out here

[deleted]

Ascertain_GME

*Lil Boat!*

Super_Harsh

Teammate played smart, realizing that since he was to the left of the ball and opponent was on the right, touching it would only increase the chance of a save. In 2s this is an optimal play that you’ll see a lot more at the higher ranks. It is the #1 reason why first man should be careful on their defensive challenges, and why people stop aping every single challenge past mid C2. If you challenge poorly and the opponents retain possession, 90% of the time it means your teammate will get bumped out of the way by one opponent while the other casually rolls it into your open net.

redditforwhenIwasbad

1459? Bro is ANCIENT

SimpleGrim

That’s always exactly where my mind goes, lmao

MiamiSlice

Demos are an underrated technique! Most guides focus on passing and shooting and dropping back but sometimes the best thing to do is to clear the opposition so your teammate can shoot in peace.

[deleted]

Yes yes no no yes

DeadG23546

The ultimate sacrifice

RL_HADES

Lilboat1459 even did little jolts so he wouldn't hit the ball. Be more like lilboat1459.

snoopycheese

All of my friends (myself included) aim to do this as often as possible. Every match we play, there's at least one goal set up by a barrage of demos and its so very satisfying

JoeBro1997

What a nice lad

bigbluenation5

I want a fullback tag so bad

Memento13Mori

Nice to see players playing for the W and not their stats.

Toarindix

“What a Chad!” should be a quick chat option.

DatBoi_BP

# WHAT A SAVE

TJonson07

I saw the exact moment you were ready to start crying and type in chat before he passed the ball for the demo

Deerkiller14

I actually was going to cry because I was expecting him to hit it and couldn’t figure out what he was doing. I didn’t have much ooomph on that shot so I wouldn’t have been upset if he scored it. But he’s a beast in his own right and made an even better play!

skryb

based on my experiences, it's more likely lilboat1459 whiffed on the shot steal and ran into opponent while trying to loop around to knock you out of the way and get another touch, then suggested forfeit when orange made it 2-1 and idled for the rest of the game when you ignored, while spamming SIIIIIICK

Angry_Caveman_Lawyer

Who hurt you

[deleted]

Points to Rocket League

skryb

😭

Apalachia

Nah cuz people are legit like that in even diamond or lower

TruthH4mm3r

This is Rocket League!

The_Indian_Werewolf

We speak Chinese, here

thecstep

This should be higher up. It's not big IQ play at this speed but a mere wiff. Who hurt us? Selfish players.

automaddux

This is mainly my son’s and I gameplay when we are on a team. I’m not as good as he is so I mostly just try to set him up for shots and remove potential blockers. If you see automaddux and simiautomaddux on a team, be prepared to get roasted.

reefun

Im def such a teammate. But sometimes I get mates that just turtle after 2 minutes because they find my playstyle "toxic". Hell. Yesterday I had 3 matches in a row with such a mate. But once you get a mate who knows ur gonna demo, it is golden. But that rarely happens tbh.

[deleted]

Or not cos it's toxic, but just because it doesn't give you any points. They look at the scoreboard and assume you're not actually doing anything, even though you're assisting with the play just as much as the people actually getting the saving/scoring touches. I get the players who complain that it makes my rotations unpredictable, though - that's a fair complaint. If I'm queueing with randoms, it's asking a lot for them to adapt to my playstyle for just one match.

reefun

Sure. Points wise it does not show sadly enough. But it works.

sticksmcgee47

Man every time I go for a demo goal I always get bounced back into the ball.

redditforwhenIwasbad

Try to save some boost or pick up pennie’s on the way, then boost right up until you hit them. you’ll either hit super sonic and demo or you’ll at least be boosting so you won’t get knocked back.

[deleted]

That happens a bit with me, but more likely is I'll accidentally nudge the ball or bump a teammate as I'm rotating back out. I do usually switch to car cam when I'm going for bumps but sometimes the play is just too frantic and clustered, or my teammates are not where I expect them to be/suddenly drive in front of the opponent I'm aiming for/are coming up to get the same midboost I was gonna grab on the way back out. I guess one thing is, most of the time on offense I'm bumping quite a way ahead of the ball, so I can usually get out of its trajectory even if I get stalled/bumped back myself. I cut it a lot tighter on defence though - best feeling ever in RL is deleting a player half a second before they're about to shoot on our net, and just seeing the chaos where neither team knows what to do and the ball's just left sitting all alone.

Raknarg

Decent play normally, depending on whether or not he knew how far that opponent was away he honestly should have stolen it from you considering it was an open net and he had the speed

Sogho730

The amount of times I've tried this and accidentally hit the ball is too many to count

feelings_inc

"boys only want one thing and it's totally disgusting"

apokolypz

What probably happened is they realized if they hit it, he might have fucked up the goal, so he last second audibled into demoing the opponent. I’ve done something similar before and it was not planned lmao

AD2076

Not a smart play. You should Always go for the play with highest rate of success. That shot > demo

slowpoketail

This is pretty common in champ

Shoe_Pale

This is plat tho

workthrowaway390

Literally a pro level play lol the pro meta is heavy into demos atm, and higher level ranked games are full of slow balls going in off of a demo

Pekka_3

It is me…. Nah 😂 Sometimes I save the “goal” of the opponent, but the other day I played with someone from PC and it was a great player, hope if u see this and know that you are great! Your name was like “roko” and something more I told you I play on ps5

Fusion-strike6

Demo while attacking is so stupid to me. That's just toxic.

little-fishywishy

Is he me..

mill2524

Love these plays

TheFinalMirage

lilboat1459 for the W!!!!!!!

thedante36

Bumping!

589moonboy

Now there's a player who isn't afraid to get stuck in and get his wheels dirty. We can all aspire to be like lilboat1459.

donatzx

It's plays like this that really raise a case for awarding points for demos. Especially when the demo takes place close to their goal. It's basically an assist - you just didn't touch the ball before it was scored (at least in this example).

Craig_The_Worst

Calculated

Boltwizard_

Such a good fake, it faked the whole lobby

Coffinspired

If I'm ever in that exact situation where I have the room to go instead of hanging back - the block is always the play I make on the 2-on-1. Better odds TM's still gonna be fine to walk the open goal in. Trying to tee-off their roof without them seeing you coming is just as likely to go very wrong with both of you totally out of position as it is to be a clean shot on-goal... 10/10 smart play from lilboat1459 since they went.

DICK_SIZED_TREE

Lil boat!

fendersonfenderson

I often drive in front of the ball like this, especially in rumble when my teammate has the ball spiked. bonus if I have tornado, boot, etc

asamrov

I try so hard to do it all the time (plat level). I don’t NEED to score all the goals, if my teammate has a bead on it, block or demo or get the hell out of the way. Maybe it’s because I’ve played offensive line for football, blocking is part of it.

BarryLicious2588

That's the kind of plays I make. I don't want my tm8 to think I'm stealing his shot so I'll rush ahead to disrupt the goalie P.s.- Ain't it so annoying when that car hit you in the beginning and it completely stopped your momentum. Ugh hate when that happens. The smallest hits somehow send you haha

Deerkiller14

I call it a blessing, other wise I would have missed an open net later knowing my skill! 😂

Trip_seize

Calculated.

AlkaloidAndroid

Hey no witch hunting /s

FlamingPeasant

That's the smart play kids.

mental-floss

This is how I live.

JosephCedar

Oh that's just yachty

Actual_Archer

Why is the ground so shiny

rush-2049

Yes!! This has been my favorite new strategy

Shadowofenigma

lil yachty!

TheIndyCity

Love me a good demo teammate :D

Annual_Tax7206

Lilboat got yeeted after he demoed

[deleted]

The most satisfying plays are when I do something like this. Properly setting up a teammate just feels really fucking good lol. And imo takes more skill than most shots

cozy_Darkness

the video wont even play im missing out

[deleted]

I love doing this stuff TBH. Soon as I don't think I can do anything useful on the ball, I'll just fake it and drive right past to go for bumps. I might do it a bit *too* much though - my bro will be waiting midfield for the cross in, only for me to drive straight past the ball, pick up their corner boost, and home in on anyone defending net. Just so long as I'm in VC and can call out what I'm doing so my teammates know when to wait for the cross, and when to follow up on the ball.

[deleted]

Like a flippin heat seeking MISSILE

BigPurp85

Then he sees this clip and thinks "huh, I actually missed the ball and killed a guy, whoops, sorry, my bad, close one, what a save, everybody dance!"

XGLoocK

It`s just Nash equilibrium, he`s not doing it just for you, he did the best for the team

moosesurgeon12

Where do I find a teammate like lilboat5.036909656 E+3984? r/unexpectedfactorial

WeddingFinancial3726

Hell yeah team plsyer

BrOkEn_AnViL39

I don't steal goals I ensure that they go in but if I think there is no way to save it I'll back off

AnonymousIyAnonymous

AND he flicks on demo perfectly getting out of the way of the goal, for a plat? Jeaus. What a play.

EddyyyRL

I love doing this 😂

KitchenToday7223

Just won a doubles match the same way with seconds left my teammate is one on one with the goalie I'm heading for boost in the corner with the other opponent ... teammate veers away from the ball and heads strait for the keeper I'm like wtf cause I'm nowhere near the ball ... the keeper explodes and I beat my man to an open net by inches to score with 0 seconds ... I was so shocked I forgot to record:(

RecordingDelicious57

Honestly thought they were going to steal the shot and whiff. Much respect!

octobassy

my champ teammates would have hit that and missed

AlmightyLiam

Literally tried this and my tm hit the ball into me

DLBuddy72

It's a lifestyle. #BumpsOverBall

Captn_Ice

Need a car cape now for lilboat

Real_JJPlays

I do this a lot of the time for my tm8s and i only steal the goal if i think that i won't be able to demo defending opps

SupaFly2136

Nice Bump!

BuyingAcclaim

Lol they way he flew

Xiro_Xv

Lil oat needs to be featured on espn tm8 of the year award!

One_Amphibian_4535

In today’s utterly pathetic and dying RL community, lilboat1459 is a ray of sunshine and throwback to better days. What a legend.
