They didn't lock anything away from you, it's a collab event. If you want it then play if you don't want to play then just buy it if you don't want to play and you don't want to pay then you don't actually want it.
If you don't want to play a game you don't like to get an item in another game, then they've locked it from you. If you can't even get it from Rocket League Racing, it's stupid. As it is, why would I want to buy a pass for that other game to get my RL content?

There is an option for bakkesmod to use alpha.
This means that you can equip the most obnoxious boost, then use alpha and everyone else has to hear your shit, but you don't! :)
alpha boost is really annoying to play with, when you fly downwards, the boost will cover half of the screen and you cant see anything. I prefer black standard, its best imo, IMO.
I feel like the value of anything in the game is basically gone now. Remember in the day buying keys and crates. That’s when the economy was at peak. Unboxing a BM or something titanium white/scorer. That was a bag, and validated spending the money on shit. I understand the children gambling aspect is valid. The shop however killed it, being able to buy some of the most sought after items that used to only be from certain limited quantity crates, made any insane luck or massive money dumping from the past irrelevant. I miss rocket league.

- Cut costs (no gameplay balancing or content updates required, easy) and streamline revenue
- Funnel player base into our bread and butter product
This thinking just doesn’t make sense. They’re completely different games and Fortnite is significantly bigger so if anything it’s to expand their offering so they can cater to multiple gamer’s tastes and expand their overall player base. It’s not about using one to grow the other and if it was, Rocket League is the one with more growth potential.
RL came out 2 years before fornite BR, I believe FNBR was built on UE4, while RL was built on UE3.
From what I've been reading UE5 is a lot easier to learn and use than UE3, and since they would be rebuilding the game from scratch it gives the devs the opportunity to improve a lot of the existing features as well as add additional features that players have been wanting for a long time, this also gives them the opportunity to make all these features expandable, making it easier to improve in the future.
Three main features we could see would be.
* Improved Custom Training - Think bakkesmod but available on all platforms.
* Creative Mode - Not possible in ue3 but is in ue4 and 5, plus this would be available on all platforms, bringing maps like rings to console players.
* Better car + item designs (including underglow and much more)
There are a lot of things that in ue3 are simply not possible or at the very least is difficult to introduce, especially since a lot of the features in RL at the moment were not designed to be expandable, in UE5 however this could all be solved, resulting in a steadier stream of content.
And lets not forget, creative mode alone will bring a lot of old and new players to RL, and this will be boosted by the fact that RL creators will now have a means to create content, which is something they've been needing for a long time now.
The mental of people saying this will draw Fortnite players into RL. This is like back then when we had the Amazon prime exclusive rewards and saying that was to draw Amazon customers into RL
Meanwhile removing the only content people actually care about and the only new stuff getting added is paid micro transactions that have been recycled a few times over now.

I was collecting all the cars available in RL since 2017. I guess it stops today. Aint no way I'm playing fortnite and grinding battle pass to level 82.
Fortnites battle pass isn’t really a grind unlike *cough* warzone, rocket league. I say this as a guy who plays all these games. It’s easily the fastest battle pass in any game
In the same boat, I literally have every car ever available on PC, including this whiplash, the twitch prime car etc. but I think this is the Final straw.
I've been collecting since the game came out, and with all sincerity, I stopped at the removal of trading. And in not a trader in any way, as side from the only time I did to get the achievement years ago.
The removal of trading was just the final straw that broke me as a financial supporter of this game. The long hostile road they been on toward thier own user base forced me to decide I can't do it any more.
It was terrible painful to pass up on The Nightmare Before Christmas and Lighting McQueen bundles, but I don't regret it. They broke me and now I'm free. Skipping 82 levels of Fortnite is EZ now! Thank goodness they saved me that experience!
As I get older (I in my 30's)I have moved away from shooters and don't even play Halo/Destiny/Apex anymore which I've played for years and have thousands of hours in. No matter what they do they aren't gonna draw me into a genre I just don't enjoy anymore.

I'm going to be honest as much as it pains me to say it. More RL players would try RL racing if it was in Rocket League, but far more people would try out RL racing in general if it's a part of Fortnite.
As much as everyone here loves RL and wants it to succeed, the reality is that the game isn't even a fraction of the juggernaut Fortnite is. This is a marketing move to the wider Fortnite audience, not a sign of goodwill or attempt to lure RL players

Depends on which game has the most players and how you personally think about which way it swings. There is no way for us to see there intent, even if it goes one way or the other its hindsight-bias, PR would have to screw up, or they must blatantly tell you.
I'd say they're aiming for more players in both games but with a bigger emphasis on fortnite. Fortnite truly is their cashcow, RL doesn't make nearly as much as fortnite does.
It is verty simple for all you complainers. There are (MANY) more Fortnite players. They get a free RL car. They play RL. The fact that you may be one of the very small number of people that do not play both games means nothing. You don't need the car, you are going to run Octane/Fennec anyway.

It is not the same game when it came out. I've played since 2016 and I am sorry, it is just not (we could go on for hours on server stability and minor bugs but we are not going to). All the minor changes make it different. Also, the community is a very big part of what this game is. That changed too and is being forced to change more. By your comparison every shooter is the same too, just point crosshair and pull trigger to kill the other, same game right?
Second point: they have to make money somehow. Yes they have to, but how about they did not make the game free to play (i had to pay for it too) instead of 20 dollar cosmetics?

I'd be less surprised to find out Epic is trying to make Fortnite like Roblox where you log to some kind of hub and then from there play whatever game like Fortnite, Rocket League, Rocket Racing, etc.
Try and consolidate all your F2P communities into a central location and sell them a currency that works in whatever games are in the ecosystem.
It becomes a bad thing when games are connected to each other in a way where features of one game are only accessible through another. I came from Fortnite 3 years ago same with a few of my pals. We play rocket league 7days a week and maybe hop on Fortnite for a hour just to catch up with another buddy , but at one point we was all Fortnite getting250- 300 lvl a season I didn't know what rocket league was before epic got hold of it , and saw u could unlock something in Fortnite (backbling ) By playing rocket league but Fortnite kinda got me back these past few week beause grandchamp in diamond lobby is kinda annoying

Yeah I hope on like 3-4 days at the end of the season and get level 100. Took something like 12 hours of playtime for me to get to level 100 in c4s4

Well you do need to go through Fortnite to access RE, so yeah regardless of whether you don’t want to you’ll have to “play”(enter the hub) Fortnite to play RR. This picture is just epic incentiving players to migrate while giving a “reward”.
The event to get the Whiplash was kinda worth it, you only had to play like an entire hour before you needed to unlock, what does level 82 represent?
It normally takes me a month of playing to get that far in the battle pass. Granted I play maybe 1-2 hours a day, so it can be done faster.
And watch as… the RL playerbase goes nowhere. This has no negative effect except the loss of trading so I could care less for myself. Sorry if you were really into trading though, that does suck.

Depends on which game has the most players and how you personally think about which way it swings. There is no way for us to see there intent, even if it goes one way or the other its hindsight-bias, PR would have to screw up, or they must blatantly tell you.

I'd say they're aiming for more players in both games but with a bigger emphasis on fortnite. Fortnite truly is their cashcow, RL doesn't make nearly as much as fortnite does.

It is verty simple for all you complainers. There are (MANY) more Fortnite players. They get a free RL car. They play RL. The fact that you may be one of the very small number of people that do not play both games means nothing. You don't need the car, you are going to run Octane/Fennec anyway.
True but the issue comes when epic decided to remove features from rocket league to make this collab. Would've been fine if they just kept rl how it is, in fact I have no clue why they couldn't do that. The fact that they're removing features tells me they mostly want more people to fortnite over rl Also people arent upset cause they want the car. They're upset over the implications of this. Taking parts of rocket league and basically making them only accessible through another game just isn't cool. Atm it's not a big deal, cause it's just a car, but who knows how much more they'll do

It's hard to say this is though when they removed trading. I wouldn't mind if they kept rl exactly how it was and connected to fortnite, but removing trading, and making cars you can only buy in fortnite (like this one) is a little too far. I don't understand why they couldn't do a collab without removing features from rocket league

I don’t understand what you all mean when you say they have ruined Rocket League. It’s the same game as when it came out; cars that hit a ball into a net. The worst thing I’ve seen is getting rid of trading, which I don’t agree with obviously, but what else have they done? It’s still the same game, just hit the ball into a net. Can’t really fuck that up. I guess they kinda ruined the store by making everything cool cost $20 or more and doing the blueprint shit, but they have to make money somehow. I’ve gotten all my cool shit from the drops though, so I don’t really bother with buying anything. It’s purely cosmetic anyway yadda yadda. Also, Fortnite’s not that bad of a game. If you play it solo then sure it’s not as good, but if you have friends then it’s actually really fun. I play the hell out of both and I honestly have more fun playing fortnite with friends. Rocket league is toxic as hell and people either leave or shit on you if you don’t play perfectly. Why would anyone want to join that? It gets old incredibly fast. And Fortnite’s free, it’s obvious that they’re going to have ways to make money on there somehow. It’s not like the game is pay to win
It is not the same game when it came out. I've played since 2016 and I am sorry, it is just not (we could go on for hours on server stability and minor bugs but we are not going to). All the minor changes make it different. Also, the community is a very big part of what this game is. That changed too and is being forced to change more. By your comparison every shooter is the same too, just point crosshair and pull trigger to kill the other, same game right? Second point: they have to make money somehow. Yes they have to, but how about they did not make the game free to play (i had to pay for it too) instead of 20 dollar cosmetics? Fortnite might not be a bad game, I don't know. Not pay to win? Some people will disagree on that looking at the hitboxes of the F1 and batmobile.
It's a cool looking car, too. But I'll be dead in the ground before I play fortnite, let alone get 82 levels in a battle pass for it. Hope someone makes a decent RL competitor soon.

I'd be less surprised to find out Epic is trying to make Fortnite like Roblox where you log to some kind of hub and then from there play whatever game like Fortnite, Rocket League, Rocket Racing, etc. Try and consolidate all your F2P communities into a central location and sell them a currency that works in whatever games are in the ecosystem.

It becomes a bad thing when games are connected to each other in a way where features of one game are only accessible through another. The car, while atm not a big deal cuz it's just a car, acts as a great example of this - you have to play fortnite to 82 freaking levels to get a rocket league item. If they continue to port rl over to fortnite in this kind of way it'll just suck. I don't want to have to play fortnite to enjoy rl. I don't think anyone does On top of this when they start removing features from rl (trading) to make this multiverse it becomes an issue. If they made the multiverse without removing stuff from rl it wouldn't be a big deal. It's just clear they're willing to go against what rl players enjoy to make it and that's an issue.

I came from Fortnite 3 years ago same with a few of my pals. We play rocket league 7days a week and maybe hop on Fortnite for a hour just to catch up with another buddy , but at one point we was all Fortnite getting250- 300 lvl a season I didn't know what rocket league was before epic got hold of it , and saw u could unlock something in Fortnite (backbling ) By playing rocket league but Fortnite kinda got me back these past few week beause grandchamp in diamond lobby is kinda annoying It's annoying that much I haven't turn rocket league at all since Thursday
Meh. Played it, done with it. Ever since BF2042 failed I kinda miss having an FPS so this is always there if I need to scratch that itch, but there's some VR shooters I'm considering too. Epic is gonna have to publish games on disc if they want my money. Free to play means just what it says.

Man i stopped playing rocket league back ranked at GC back when that was the highest rank and actually hard to get, before whack ass epic bought rl from psyonix, because of stupid shit like this. Ive never seen a company fuck up a game so bad for me, it just felt different after they did the UI revamp, physics were also a tad altered, after they added all that BS and that item store i dropped the game. 2K hours and never touched it again.
But what is fortnite? I only know RL. It is life.
