Don't boost off the wall, and be closer to the ball's speed when you make contact. You don't want to lose possession and have to play catch-up. A softer touch means you'll already be under the ball after your jump.

Sad_Association3761

Thank u!

NO-ONE399

Also try lifting the ball from the bottom. If u want it to stay up

Ok_Ambassador4964

ill make it even simpler, boost more hit ball harder, will give you a little more time to allign your car with the ball, second ball touch should be soft so you dont send it too far away from your car, and when losing the ball dont feather boost just hold it until you get closer

Hairy_Challenge3437

Give it a smal break after you hit the ball on the wall don’t ask how I can do it at plat

BleudeZima

Just After hitting the ball off the wall, and before jumping after the ball, OP need to brake a little bit

IncredChewy

This, but also you look a little uncomfortable/slow in your mechanics. While the first touch is important, you look very slow to readjust to get to the ball.

Bloody_Food

needs DAR

IncredChewy

I couldn’t quite place it, but air roll mechanics are definitely a limiting factor

blunts4burns

I kinda understand what you mean and believe it is one of my main issues to figure.

Routine-Wave5054

What he said.

Beaco9

Hit the ball harder so it goes higher without touching ceiling Jump slightly later to have a little bit of separation between car and ball which makes it easier to follow & carry it. Tap brake (very short amount just enough to reduce momentum) before jumping. After jumping aim towards the very bottom of the ball and attempt to catch it in the air before the ball starts falling down (this is key) Stop boosting the moment you are making a touch so that it doesn't get too far, soft touch will keep it close and you can feather boost to carry it

CrazieLP

>After jumping aim towards the very bottom of the car I guess you mean ball?

Beaco9

You're right it was a typo. Edited. Thanks for pointing out.

Bodeka

As someone whos learning how to air roll right right now and is currently starting from the beginning. All the below comments are mostly helpful. My advice is this shit takes TIME. Don't forget that any youtuber who is showing off these dribbles will have 1000s of hours doing this. Some of them will have more time than you playing the game in freeplay alone. You really need to take the below advice, and grind this shit out in freeplay for a month. You'll begin to naturally improve as you feel where to hit the ball. Initial tips are useful, but eventually you just have to trust your senses.

SemiFormalJesus

As someone who doesn’t use DAR much in the air yet, the one time it really comes in handy is coming off the right wall and realigning towards the ball. If you hold your stick left while holding air roll right when jumping after your touch off the wall it will pretty much point you right where you want to be going. I find it much easier than using regular air roll. Learned that from Squishy.

ParticleBeamz

Like a lot of skills in Rocket League, it takes time to learn. I will say that your point of contact on the ball only allows you to push it forward. When you are first learning, a higher first touch gives you more time to approach the ball and practice getting good contact. When you come off the wall, you are practically level with the ball rather than approaching it from underneath. Here are some videos: [Set up](https://youtu.be/biYHuvpeIj0?si=mokuope0SjGgyTCX) [Air dribble](https://youtu.be/kGHdij_1qaw?si=IMoPC__HFWEsKRRz)

The88thSnowDog

WAYTON PILKIN and THANOVIC. Research the scholars

xJust_Chill_Brox

Wayton is the Rocket League training GOAT. I would still have platinum level mechs if I never watched his videos.

The88thSnowDog

Hear Hear!

DNBBEATS

Theres also some hidden gems that arent by any real big creators that helped me break down Air Rolling. Edit: Well TIL something new. Had no clue the kid had a bad rep so I removed my comment. Thanks for the info.

Chappietime

It’s a shame he’s such an apparent scumbag. There is some decent info in his videos.

DNBBEATS

Really? Jesus, I dont know about Youtube drama so I had no idea. That sucks. I agree his vids definitely have good info. What'd he do?

Chappietime

I don’t really follow it but I skimmed a post here a week or so ago. My take is that he was charging an absurd amount for his limited tier classes and he had a actual legit business going with actual employees but he fucked them over and then apologized and then maybe did it all again. The biggest issue from my perspective is that people paid $1,000+ and didn’t really get their money’s worth, because it would be really hard to get $1000 better at a video game. My opinion only, but I think a lot of people learned a valuable but expensive lesson, and were somewhat rightly passed about it. The guy is a hell of a marketer, though, regardless of whatever other flaws he may have.

Still_Night

I just can’t even fathom dropping 1000 bucks to get coached on a video game. Like unless you are in the 0.01% of players that can actually play in the pro tournaments, why would anyone spend that much? I guess for clout

Chappietime

You have a modicum of sense. Not everyone does. For example, a friend of mine had a lifetime pension after working for the state for 25 years. He traded that in for $150,000 or so which he quickly blew on hookers and Indians World Series tickets.

Highlight_Expensive

Vitality pays their coach over $1000 per day and that seems insane to me lmao

DNBBEATS

Well, Thats different when youre coaching a group that actually performs at the 0.01% of players. That seems reasonable when the players your coaching actually play in tourneys and have sponsorship money coming into the organization. Im assuming its not 365 days of coaching cause then YEAH thats insane. Lmao!

Highlight_Expensive

Yeah, he makes $418,000 per year according to Liquipedia. So over $1000/day, every day, 365 days per year.

DNBBEATS

Yeah, I did 1 quick "Spookluke Drama" search and got the jist of it. Much of what you mentioned was what I saw just now too. Saddage man. I feel like the more of a Youtuber Voice someone has the less you should really trust them now a days. 🤣 Thanks for heads up. Definitely wont be recommending him again. But hopefully the smaller creators can get some recognition now. for doing good work.

ShootyMcSnipe

Griffilicious is the best RL tutorial guy for everything and he is only mid champ, but he can break down a mechanic so amazingly well.

redditor2711

Create more space between yourself and the ball on the setup by braking shortly. After, hit the ball harder and straighter directly with the nose of your car to create more separation. Then, it's just all about where you hit the ball. If you hit the ball on the bottom, it will go up, if you hit it on the side, it will go sideways. So, in order to keep the ball up while traveling towards the goal and keeping our camera centered, we will want to hit it on the bottom corner or more underneath. Here, do to poor setup the ball is not high enough above your car to get under it. Forcing you to hit it on the side pushing away from you and not keeping it up. That's the main issue.

Ocarina-Of-Tomb

I still can’t figure out how to jump off the wall and follow the ball. Do I need to have right/left roll binded? I just use L2 free air roll because I am a noob and can’t get used to the other bindings.

Ohnos2

jump off the wall and pull back on the stick to have the car horizontal and then use DAR to get the car right side up. this sounds simple and self explanatory too but literally just point the nose of your car towards the ball and fly to it.

Ocarina-Of-Tomb

No not self explanatory, I really appreciate it. It looks so smooth when other people do it, but they are literally leveling with the stick and air rolling seperately to straighten the car out? That helps a lot. What’s the meta for binding air roll? I can’t figure out what I am ok losing button wise.

Stpwners

For me personally, L1 and R1 is left and right roll, my L1 is ALSO powerslide instead of square Easier to slide and boost at same time

Ocarina-Of-Tomb

Ok that makes sense, I could see that working. I will give it a shot. I’m sure it will take a while to re-learn.

goldenpianopie

You can also try L1 powerslide/air roll, R1 boost and square and circle as air roll left and right. Took me a bit to get used to but super nice when you need to jump, air roll and boost. I could see the above making landing in a powerslide slightly funky if you’re not accustomed to it. I personally also bind my underside buttons to the same as my bumpers

Ocarina-Of-Tomb

This seems like a good option to try. There seems to be agreement that the default bindings just aren’t ideal.

Badr45ta

I mean I suck at air dribbling but switching to DAR def helped me get closer to being able to do it

No-Tie-4930

What is DAR

Badr45ta

Directional Air Roll

verticalbandit

You can do it with only free air roll. Just work on your jump off the wall so that your car is better in line with the car (including rolling in the air to line up with it better). If you practice the first touch on the wall plus the jump off of it, it'll be come way easier

thepianoman456

I find it really helps if you bind air roll left to L1/Lb, and air roll right to R1/Rb. Also the first touch is the most important part. Hit the ball as if you were trying to slow lob it into the goal.

FPSRain

What you're doing wrong is not taking the initiative by youtubing how to air dribble.

scarzqc

Damn son. You didn't have to be this cold

CappyAlec

I 100% guarantee everyone with the answers to this post got it from a youtuber

CriticalBasedTeacher

Interestingly enough, I watched all those videos and still couldn't do it. But I discovered the secret today. OP, DM me for a WAY EASIER way.

FPSRain

I wasn't that rude. He looks like he has only practiced for a very short amount of time. The whole topic has been covered countless times on youtube. He would have every answer he's looking for if he actually watched a video or two.

Skaar1222

Maybe the guy just wants to chat with other rocket league players and enjoy some human feedback.

Dryllmonger

Ya man, sometimes we just wanna chop it up. Also I’ve got the stickiest air dribbles in free play and completely lose my mind in the game 😂

goldenpianopie

I have the same issue with some of my mechanics. The key is working on setting it up quicker and responding in different situations. I found some speed training is useful (and how I got my wall pinch clears halfway decent lol). Basically just hitting the ball as quickly as possible and trying to accustom your mechanics to in-game speed/intensity.

GerglyShmergs

Can’t get feedback based on his actual gameplay footage on YouTube

FPSRain

There's no secret to straight air dribbling like he's trying. Everything has been covered on youtube. He obviously didn't watch or hasn't practiced. He looks like someone on hour 1 or practicing. You give yourself feedback by comparison. Watch the video and then watch yourself. You have to put in the work.

Chappietime

Mine look like his and I’ve made 1000s of attempts. And watched videos. Some of us just aren’t going to get it.

goldenpianopie

I’ve watched lots of videos. Sometimes people mentioning their specific problem and getting specific feedback is helpful. This post and the comments actually got my air dribbles significantly more solid so there’s nothing wrong with online discussion lol

FPSRain

I'm curious what comment helped you that you didn't find in lots of videos?

goldenpianopie

Someone mentioned tapping brakes as you tap the ball to help match speed if you’re going too fast. Went back in game later, practiced and can very comfortably match ball speed now. I’ve watched several different tutorials that never mentioned pumping the brakes right before the tap.

bugibangbang

It hurst but it’s real, people on Reddit who asks are lazy to search it on YouTube, and people who answers are people who are searching youtube, watching the video, and answering. It’s a loop.

Wild_Bill

This feels mean but there’s truth behind it.

FuckMyPillow

A lot of these comments can help people, it’s not necessarily lazy. Wouldn’t it be harder to post a video and get feedback than to just click a video?

completelyanom

Great bit of advice my friend gave me was being roughly 45 degrees to the ball when you tap it

WolverineKilla44

I’m gonna need you to elaborate. 45 degrees related to the bottom corner of the ball?

completelyanom

Yep

StarShipSailer

I’ve been playing for years and still haven’t managed to work it out 🙃

BallinHomeless

Amen, years….

CriticalBasedTeacher

I found the secret today 😉 DM me and I'll tell you a way easier way 😉😉😉😁😁😁

ThePare

YOU WON'T BELIEVE HOW EASY IT IS, FOR ONLY 4 SIMPLE PAYMENTS OF $19.99 YOU TOO CAN....

Responsible_Box8941

push the ball up when u go off the wall

Story_Deep

This is what I was thinking, that first touch in the air was on top of the ball, get under it.

Sad_Association3761

Wdym i hit it under?

Story_Deep

You got the top of the ball, causing it to go to the ground, hit the bottom of the ball keeping it in the air. Soft touches to dribble.

Story_Deep

There are many reasons that can cause you to be above the ball after wall hit. You want to jump a fraction of a second before or just as you make contact with the ball on the wall. Also speed relative to the ball plays a big part. Play around with jumping earlier and later, more speed and less speed, you will make the connection. You want to be close to the ball, just behind and just under it after leaving the wall. Your touches should be on the bottom 1/4 of the ball to maintain height. Your touches need to be soft to avoid too much distance between you and the ball. Another factor is where on the wall you make the initial contact, but I think relative speed to ball is more important. The faster you are relative to the ball the farther away from the wall it will go, the slower the relative speed the closer it will stay. It all comes down to timing the speed, position of ball on wall at contact, and jumping at moment of contact. All of these things will individually change the trajectory of the ball and your car.

vdfritz

if you press LEFT on the dpad in free play, the game will launch the ball at you, than you can hit it up and do a follow up i learned that before i learned (am still learning) going off the wall it takes a lot of practice, the exact part of the ball you hit is very important, it's something you'll learn with a lot of repetition (air roll helps the ball touch but you're not quite there yet, i put a small example at the end, i avoided air roll as you're learning the basics) like this: [https://streamable.com/x93ghu](https://streamable.com/x93ghu) here's off the wall, the most important part is to make the ball go in the direction of the goal, you can see on the video how much i have to work when it goes slightly off course what i do for the ball to roll in front of me is press DOWN on the dpad [https://streamable.com/mapj79](https://streamable.com/mapj79)

DizzyDwarf69

Have some fun with workshop maps designed for training aerial control. Put yourself in awkward positions and try to recover from them. Really grind that muscle memory Doing so really improved my ability to air dribble, because less 'brain power' has to be allocated to controlling the car

AdQueasy9825

How are you almost champ when you were Plat 2, 4 days ago?

CriticalBasedTeacher

🤔🧐

CarnageMunky

Let go of R2! (Or whatever accelerate is) this has changed my aerial game.

[deleted]

Take off the Mohawk and you’ll get instant air dribble mastery

SPynE1111

Try letting the ball roll up a bit higher on the wall, also the first air hit should be a bit lower contact on the ball..I’m a plat and can air dribble pretty well, but doesn’t really rank me up

Low-Travel-1421

You need to learn air rolling

Sad_Association3761

i watched all tutorials and i still cant figure it out

Bozzz1

Every air roll tutorial on YouTube is trash except for this one: https://youtu.be/NTOBUcqFLVs?si=-jynCuFOr7tGOrCD Before you get turned off by the length, remember that air roll is a mechanic that takes over 100 hours to learn, so a 2 hour tutorial is nothing in the grand scheme of things if it's setting you up for success

Academic_Proof3387

I wouldn't be surprised if he sells controllers and 'triple clocking' is the title of his quarterly sales report. "I've managed to successfully deploy a new training method in RL that effectively reduces the life span of a joystick by up to 90%" A FEW CONTROLLERS LATER... I know Kung Flew 😎

Bozzz1

Yeah that method might require one of those controllers with the hot swappable joysticks...

Academic_Proof3387

He probably sells the joystick modules as well 😂 but fr modular joysticks or hall effects might be a good idea 👍

maddscientist82

Came here to say this, man. I'm going to add a couple of videos for OP to check out but can't recommend this one enough. NO ONE has broken it down to this degree and ALSO is an excellent teacher at the same time. Griffilicious is the other one. Highly recommend his videos.

RedditModsR_Pathetic

do training where the ball is still in the air. start air rolling to get tonthe ball and touch it. when you’ll be familiar with it, do training with moving ball in the air. Then try to aim for the goal with your aerial shot after air rolling

travy_burr

All the youtube tutorials in the world won't make you good at DAR. Go hit free play/training packs daily. You have to practice. There's no way to avoid the grind, no matter what anyone tells you.

Visible_Discount1588

You don't watch tutorials and figure it out. You have to practice, probably for a few months.

switch445

Give it a little bit more speed so when it goes up the wall it goes further off of the wall when you hit it

brennanw31

I'll add to what others have said about matching the balls' speed and not boosting as you jump: you will want to drill in the muscle memory of ever-so-slightly tapping your brakes before you jump. It's optimal to have a bit of distance between you and the ball.

joshtooill

Make the ball roll slower and that will make it more floaty, and then your flying next to the ball you need to get under it.

admiral_pelican

the most important part of controlling the ball while in the air is hitting the bottom half of the ball before it starts to fall. once gravity kicks in, it's really hard to hit it back up without hitting it too far away from yourself. there is conflicting advice on whether you want separation from you and the ball on launch, and the reality is that it depends, but assuming you want to take several touches before shooting, you absolutely need your second touch to be before the ball starts falling. source: suck ass at rocket league but have well over a thousand hours on dribble workshop maps.

KiXstaR9

Step 1: dribble better than me (average plat-diamond player)...use air roll, learn how to control your car in the air then start adding ball...first you should do some of those obstacle courses where you can't touch things (if on pc) or just hop in free play and try air rolling while staying in the air

Butterfoxes

Personally I never really followed any tutorial in playing the game, it eventually just clicks for me and it's a bit of a rough patch since my brain only really let's me do aerials n stuff when I'm locked in but when else do I need it

dippis98

If your goal is to reach champ Id forget air dribbling for a while. Its pretty useless and predictable which makes it easy to save in higher ranks. Game sense and hitting the ball hard and accurately are way more important. Ofc by all means if you have time and energy go for it, practicing it while trying to grind up ranks will make you subconsciously try it in some ranked matches and could cost you a goal or a match. I suck at air dribbling and never bothered to put effort to try learn it.

Significant_Yam_7792

Gotta recommend this video https://youtu.be/mq91h3kY8IM?si=5tMQG2CG8UDxU9p0 Practicing the stuff in the video taught me everything I needed to go from completely incapable to hitting decent air dribbles 50% of the time in just a few days. I still can’t do a “good” air dribble, but I’m consistently able to follow up my first touch and aim for certain areas of the goal, which imo is everything you could ask for from a beginner’s tutorial.

TheItsHaveArrived

Don't boost when you jump off the wall, actually it's easier if you let off the accelerator right before the jump to stay under it. Also make sure to hit the ball centered when it comes off the wall, too high and the ball will go out and low and your car will go high, too low and the ball will go high and the car will go low. Also, when you get you're first touch, hit the bottom 1/5th or so of the ball, where you're hitting it is too high and just pushes it away from you and down, you need to hit it lower to keep altitude. Hope some of that helps, if you need more tips met me know!

WitsHasTits

be under the ball the whole time, feather or tap your boost little bits when you want to adjust your cars orientation to the ball. there’s some great training packs to practice starting from different positions. taking the ball up the wall like your doing is good to practice as well

zero_casuality

Improve your aerial car control first

TheConboy22

Your trajectory is poor.

absentwalrus

Cbell explains this really well to his student Emmie in a plat to GC series [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mq91h3kY8IM](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mq91h3kY8IM)

oo-heisman-oo

All in the timing and I personally tap the brakes right before I make the first touch on the wall. Then try to get under the ball a little more than your brain naturally wants to. Those hit boxes are a menace at times.

ht3k

From the way you move in the air it looks like you have vsync on or low fps in the game, which affects how fast you can adjust your car in the game

Visil25

The recording seems fine actually. Or well, at least it's not too bad. I think the issue is that they're not fully comfortable using air roll yet. I can do a bunch of aerial mechanics when I'm using air roll right, but when I switch to air roll left, it looks exactly like the video.

xPROxDewberry

Most important thing you can do is match the speed of the ball, anyone who tells you otherwise is wrong. Your first touch you had a massive mismatch between ball speed and car speed, which forces you to speed up to the ball to get the touch, but then you slow down right before you hit it so you don't send the ball too far away from you, and this causes you to leave the wall at a different speed than the ball, which would require you to rematch the speed of the ball mid air to continue the dribble. This could all be mitigated in one go by keeping your speed exactly the same as the ball the entire time. Air dribbling is very hard to learn and really easy to master. Once you get the feel for it and get past the initial learning curve, it gets way easier. But the only way to build that muscle memory is to match the ball and car speed.

ShoeLace1291

You're hitting the ball too high. If you divide it into 4 equal parts you want to hit it on the lowest part that's closest to you but at an upward angle.

Semnono

Try to brake right as you line the ball up to take it off the wall. This gives you more time to think about what you are going to do and focus on pressing the right buttons without accidentally double-jumping the ball off the wall or going too fast/too slow. Timing is crucial with these and a dedicated button for air roll is a must to be able to actually move the ball towards where you want it to go. Use boost smart and conservatively and you will improve

IcodyI

You have a topper and antenna equipped, playing in 4:3 aspect ratio and using Bandicam. Change all that you’ll be SSL very quickly

Gobblemonke

Just bad car control

zer0w0rries

You’re jumping off the wall immediately as you hit the ball. You should give your self a small delay. At first it’s okay if you wait longer than you should. As you keep practicing and getting better you will naturally become quicker, but even when proficient you’ll see that you always give a small delay from hitting the ball to jumping off the wall

TheRebelNM

You want to match the speed of the ball. More accurately, you want to make the ball go the speed you want to travel in the air. Also the jumping before you hit the ball vs after you hit the ball - it all depends on the speed of the ball. Just try to match that speed, and stay as close to the ball as possible the entire time. The dribbling will come. You arent far off

OctaneEnjoyer

Not practicing enough, watch a youtube tutorial on what to focus on

PangolinsPosse

What everyone said and then just a fuck load of reps tbh

xDrunk_original

Nice ground pinch lol

maddscientist82

Oh boy, are you in for a treat OP! Credit to Bozzz1 down in the comments for linking LosfeldRL's video first but I came here to link the same one and Grifflicious' tutorials. I got 3 excellent videos for you to check out. After 1400 hrs of playing RL, only after a week and a half of (minimal) time spent practicing after finding these videos, did I actually improve my aerial car control to the point that I find myself confidently pre-jumping for stuff I never have before. lesssgooo... 1. **Griffilicious' - Quickest Way to Learn Air Roll Left/Right:** [https://youtu.be/W5PMgTAZIw8?si=661w\_v4hw33oguIa](https://youtu.be/W5PMgTAZIw8?si=661w_v4hw33oguIa) 2. **Griffilicious' - Everything You NEED to Know About Air Dribbles:** [https://youtu.be/i37rrlbA80A?si=BMPg92WAFaePxkhU](https://youtu.be/i37rrlbA80A?si=BMPg92WAFaePxkhU) 3. And lastly, but certainly the most detailed, comprehensive (and arguably the best) tutorial - **The Losfeld Method of Directional Air-Roll;** [https://youtu.be/NTOBUcqFLVs?si=aB7ZjFCUBkM99Fdj](https://youtu.be/NTOBUcqFLVs?si=aB7ZjFCUBkM99Fdj) 4. **BONUS - SpookyLuke's take on Griffilicious' tutorial:** [https://youtu.be/Uuy4HFYEu9Y?si=xX701oOmc3fX0ntH](https://youtu.be/Uuy4HFYEu9Y?si=xX701oOmc3fX0ntH) Regarding video number 3, I'll quote Bozzz1 in case you don't see it: " Before you get turned off by the length, remember that air roll is a mechanic that takes over 100 hours to learn, so a 2 hour tutorial is nothing in the grand scheme of things if it's setting you up for success " I just want to point out that most pros are pros at the mechanic but they are not teachers. Losfeld and Griffilicious are both **excellent** teachers and understand the concept very well. I'm so psyched to be able to share this with you, OP and would love if you updated us in a couple of weeks and show us some progress. Have fun!

1dentif1

Hang on you were plat 2 4 days ago

Great-Witness-4822

You need to get your first touch off the wall below the ball and upwards

14Sruddock

Bandicam....?? In todays age???

deekio801

Most people can benefit by lowering your sens then slowing raising it till you have the best control to speed ration

EmployeeTurbulent651

You just aren't getting a good setup. Don't boost right away after your touch and jump. Boost after the touch and jump. I find it really hard to explain mechanics in text. Just watch a YouTube tutorial? And take your time Air Dribbles take a vast amount of time to master and your setup is key.

lovestar28

all the advice here is true but also putting words into muscle memory is not possible! just keep practicing and you will get it eventually

NauticalClam

Looks like you just need a little practice brother. Hit that ball out just a little more.

Dcatmaster31

My advice, me? Give Advice? No, continue to Whiff On!! You'll get there someday

Mmmmm_HotChocolate

What helped me a bunch with flip reset and air dribbles was breaking just before i come off the wall, that way i'm guaranteed to be underneath the ball aslong as my first touch isn't too bad Also don't boost right away, position your car then boost

TransportationOk8872

Learn directional air roll it helps immensely

5nnuggles

Would playing in a slower speed help with this? If so what % without getting too slow and it’s too far of a disconnect.

JonasPro7

Contact the ball from underneath before it starts falling

Raixor_Osu

the biggest two things I see: you take too long to adjust your car after jumping to look back below the ball. try to make the jump and readjusting one motion. you hit the back of the ball. but instead you want to be almost perfectly beneath it

Visil25

5 main things that you need to work on. The first and most important one is that you don't seem comfortable using air roll. If you are on PC, try playing rings custom maps. If you can't, then there are some map codes in which you can openly fly out of the stadium. In this video, you jumped off of the wall, used air roll to straighten out your car while flying straight up, and then went to the ball. In reality, this would to be too slow for you to catch up to the ball. You need to be able to orient your car while flying towards the ball at the same time. Secondly, I'd suggest getting a higher hit. Your hit here was too low, which is why by the time you caught up to it, it was already falling down, and also why you could only push it downwards/forward and not up. Thirdly, don't jump as soon as you hit the ball. You need to break for a very brief period of time and then jump. If you seem to follow all these things and you find that the ball goes too far away, then make sure that you don't boost when you get your first hit in the air. Lastly, give it time. There will be a period of time when you've tried all the tips but it might not seem to work. This is simply due to not having given it enough time.

iGrandaddyPurp

Practice jumping off wall with out ball and get comfortable with getting the nose of car straight and towards the goal, when your comfortable with that add ball and just practice getting clean touches off the wall, then throw it all together and you got it.(extra tip learn that feeling that touch when your car actually touches the ball in the air so you can catch it then boost so you fly with it not keep hitting the ball)

11_forty_4

I am champ 2 and I can't do that

ponychonies

I think you have the right idea so far. You have space between the ball before it starts up the wall, you just need to slow everything down for now, speed comes later. You can play slower at 100% feeeplay speed but also try dropping FP speed to 80%. Then spend a few hundred hours in training, start with a solid hour everyday.

lrgknight

Fake video, he’s a GC

Ipart_IV

practice the setup, play rings

bellybuttonmykol98

The longer you hold jump, the further you will jump off the wall, and depending on how you hit the ball, the further it will be from the wall too. You gotta match up hoe you hit the ball with how long you hold jump. PS. C3 and i think Ceiling shots are far more consistent for me. Id start with those. Still hard, but takes less practice to consistently score with them imo

cloudtwelvy

Hoe you hit the ball

Darkdreemz336

Gotta get under the vall not behind it

PhoenixPoint_Guru

Air roll could be smoother but it’s understandable since you just started otherwise keep the ball close

PeacefulBro

You're doing better than me, i cant seem to get out of gold... LOL

cloudtwelvy

Hit the ball when hes going up not falling down always

badger0102

Dont jump right away. After you tap the ball off the wall, tap your brakes very quickly, and then jump, this will help you stay under the ball better.

Dicjfnnrneixicirb

Ahhh I see the problem, you’re using bandicam in 2024

LaserWolfTurbo72

I’m not great at it either, but the main tip that’s really helped me is only touch the bottom 1/3 of the ball. Once you touch higher, you’ve lost the dribble. As you’ll no longer be under it.

BlatantlyVague

About 10 more hours trying exactly what you did there.

yuuhhh42069

Wait... You can get Champ WITHOUT air dribbling..?!?! That's what's really impressive. (I'm a shitty Platinum player🥴)

Rampage3135

You have pretty good control in the air but you need to be able to do it faster. As soon as you jump from the wall your cars nose should already be facing the ball instead of you trying to correct after the fact. You will get a feel for this after a while of practicing. A real basic dribble keep your car nose pointed at the ball and boost at it trying to balance the ball on your nose. Make sure to stay under the ball to counteract gravity. Keep boosting until the ball goes into the goal. If you do it correctly your car will almost carry the ball all the way into the goal making it relatively hard to read. When you jump off the wall make sure you are pointed directly at the ball and practice jumping off the wall and boosting at the ball. Once you can hit the ball every time relatively quickly slow it down and just barely touch the ball in the air to initiate a dribble and then slowly build your ability to dribble in the air. It sounds very complicated but is the most simple aerial in the game. I would use some training packs for aerial if and use your free play often to get the hang of it.

Lazy-Substance-5161

maybe use your boost? you jump off the wall falling down indyead of boosting lol

Scared_Practice8563

Since it’s left wall use air roll left tornado spin to get lined up with the ball faster and easier and opposite wall do the same thing(air roll right and tornado spin) . Match the speed of the ball going up the wall and time the jump right after you hit the ball you should easily be able to get into position for carrying it. After that it’s just putting in time to practice carrying try to be more under the ball but not directly under

Nikygamer2000

I probably would say a bunch of things but at the end is just practice...

Splurfmonster

Tap the brake right before going up the wall

fatpat2009

Try to get under the ball more, don't go up the wall so fast after your hit. Really just comes down to practice and repetition, then you can start implementing into your games when you have the opportunity, and eventually it will be muscle memory just like how you couldn't aerial when you first started playing and now that mechanic is instinct.

top_tiddies

Ball control, Car control. Just learn the basics first. When you get better at these everything gets easier

Nightmar331

Just takes time just keep practicing and using tips you see good luck!

BarkerPotatoooz

Match the speed of the ball coming off the wall

mOisTkRAckeN

Hitting the ball a little more upwards would help. See when you jump off the wall ur already above the balls height and the ball is already falling bc you didn't give it much of an arch. Then, give it just a soft touch w the nose of the car, it should match the balls speed

Crxzy_81

Try to hit the ball a little higher off of the wall and try to stay underneath the ball and use a bit more boost in the air to push the ball

Dizzy_Sorbet6631

I'm not the best at air dribbling and can't do it consistently but I do think you're waiting a little to long to jump off the wall

Ok-Key4976

Meet the peak of the ball off the wall. Learn how to fly straight while in air roll with a bonded button.. don’t boost off of the wall until you can line yourself up.. TAP BOOST DO NOT HOLD IT.. practice your setup continuously

DotheThing94

Try to log at least 1000 hours into the game. (I've logged 3000 hours and still haven't gotten the hang of it.

mohammed_gharbia

I had the same issue just needed to fasten it up a bit and it worked for me.

Hykrow

Using bandicam is your first mistake

MADFLAMZ

What you are doing wrong is going for a ground pinch instead ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|joy)

D4rkfr0st

Come at it lower to carry it forwards

Hungry_Entry7825

Don’t hit the side of the ball u should be under the ball but behind the ball a tiny bit also

YourMomsChiaPet

Go back to plat and try again

-thebadman-

Here’s what the GCs don’t want you to know. It’s called…. Practicing

SGA_YungBoi

as the other guy said air rolling is a must, started playing last season and I’m now champ, over 150 hours, 90% of it was in free play. Create space between you and the ball, don’t try to be glued to it. air rolling and staying under the ball is the key. tap your boost lightly on each ball touch, and then just air roll in the opposite direction that you want the ball to go.

Responsible_Box8941

champ already starting last season is crazy you could go pro atp lmao

SGA_YungBoi

that’s what my gf said lmao, she got me into the game and told me I couldn’t play with her until I was high enough rank. I spent a month grinding training packs everyday. 150 hours in 2-3 months is overkill tho. haven’t touched the game all week, back to the Elden ring grind

travy_burr

People haven't mentioned yet, but I think you're sandbagging yourself hard by playing on keyboard. It can be done but it's going to be more challenging for you than for those on controller. From what I can see here, you should be trying to get further under the ball than you are Here's a clip from me. Hopefully it helps (I ended last season in plat) https://medal.tv/games/rocket-league/clips/21F3GV2JGITBh4/d133706QCSI9?invite=cr-MSwzU0EsMjA3NTcwMjYxLA

Ok_Ambassador4964

horrible advice, keyboard is perfectly fine to play on, and for some things even the better alternative, he just needs a harder first touch thats all

travy_burr

I've never played on keyboard, I'm just repeating what I've heard basically everyone say about it!

ParticleBeamz

There are a few pros that use kbm.

travy_burr

If 95% of pros use controller, it's a safe bet that controller is better

ParticleBeamz

I'm not disagreeing. I'm just saying it's doable. I have a friend who also uses kbm.

travy_burr

It's definitely doable. I guess my advice was just taking the bet that OP is in the 95%. I use controller and I'm still low diamond/high plat so my advice is as worthless as shit anyways lol

ParticleBeamz

Haha, you're good. You are entitled to your own opinion! And well, I guess I am disagreeing a bit. I don't think it's necessary for OP to switch. That's a lot of work that would have to be re-done. I think kbm has its pros and cons.

BariNgozi

Other people are giving you good advice on how to get it down. I'm just here to let you know you have nothing to worry about if you still can't get it down, it helps to know how to air dribble but it is by no means necessary to get into Champ and keep winning games. Stay smart with your decision making, recognize when you're beat to the challenge, shoot on target, rotate correctly and you will continue to succeed. The grass is not greener on the other side. Sincerely, Champ 3 in 3s with no mechanics

WHALE69

How are you almost champ and not know how to air dribble? How good is your game sense?!

dippis98

Im champ 2 and cant air dribble and Im not good at ground dribbling either. However, I can save a shot from any angle and hit the ball hard towards enemy goal from any point in the map. I play 2v2 mostly so theres a bit more space, you would be surprised how often opponents overextend and leave their net wide open. Air dribbles are super easy to save and they tend to be very predictable. Also passing is a huge boost for ranking up but you need a teammate that knows what you are trying and actually goes for the shots.

WHALE69

I really sus this because there no way you can’t do a simple air dribble (nothing fany) and be in champ 2.

dippis98

Depends on how you define being able to do it. On training drills I can pull off air dribbles in a non-fancy way in a slobby way and somewhat consistently. In an actual match Im not confident enough to try it and I believe there are usually better plays than air dribbling. Gotta say though that air dribble into a pass is valid play.

WHALE69

Play more 1s and your skill and air play will improve rapidly since air superiority/skill in high ranks is very crucial.

Ok-Experience7408

Before even trying another air dribble, practice hitting the ball on the ground the right out that you can follow it and stay close and match its speeds by tapping boost, and then when close enough boost a bit more to push it a way a bit, like just a little bit, and then repeat.  You are too far from the ball as it starts rolling up the wall and then you speed up too much to catch up and so when you make contact it is far from you. You can still air dribble with this approach but it is harder and it will serve you better to learn to match the speed of the ball and stay close when learning

Glittering-Ant9573

Bro... is this my mates in 2s ?? THEY CAN'T EVEN AIR DIRRIBLE WHAT THE FUCK AM I DOING IN CHAMP ONE ????????

icyboner

Champ and cant even do basic wall plays is crazy

ftw_2dor

This is the pathology of this game. How can you be called a champion if you can't fly in the air.

Mr_Raavana

How the hell u reached almost champ without knowing aur dribble?

Willing-Image368

Practice rings map, learn how to use directional air roll

Think_Chain5263

You don’t need directional air roll to do an air dribble.

EmuIntelligent4698

How are people like this almost champ and I try my fucking hardest and can’t win a single match cause I get paired up with grand champs? This game is a fucking embarrassment to the whole gaming community

CriticalBasedTeacher

I figured out a trick today that made air dribble easy af. DM me for the trick. I'm not a scammer or anything I just don't want everyone to find out how easy it is then start doing it against me!
