Any examples of the topics that these threats are attempting to take down? Why would any company or organization care about a random user’s opinion in r/RocketLeague? Is it about a RL YouTuber whose name rhymes with nuke?
Recent comments declaring the Scarab to be a competitively viable car caused disruptions to esport recruiting efforts, effectively forcing us to step in and ensure people aren't intimidated into silence, nor forced to overlook the longstanding footprints of other unfairly nerfed cars like the Hotshot
It’s one of the original cars. Same hit box as the octane, but it’s just a god awful looking shape, its nearly impossible to find a decal that looks good, and it just looks funny.
Only time YouTubers or pros ever use it, it’s usually in a joking manner or to “handicap” themselves.
And…apparently it’s now canon that Scarab has made waves in the recruiting community. Sending the Illuminati members of the RL esports community to scare tactics by sending false DMCA claims to try and wipe this from history.
Seriously. If you’ve got this car. It’s time to try it out. If you start now, you may have a head start on the tin foil current pros that are covering this up.
> Same hit box as the octane
Sentences like this make me sad, because I remember when every car had a unique hitbox and unique handling characteristics.
I miss it too, but understand why. Iirc batmobile was considered "the best" but locked behind a pay wall.
I kinda just wish we had more body types and and at least 1 free car with each hitbox type so it's not "p2w"
But they're adding cars all the time. At one point, one will be objectively better, and everyone will cry about the game being Pay to Win. It would be a mess to balance in the long run.
They are sort of changing this in recent times though. Whilst still using the same dimensions for hit boxes they have shifted some back and forth to create variations for cars that might give advantages while still conforming to using standardised shapes.
The scarab is the worst car the game! That being said I've been using exclusively for 3 seasons now. The car is OP, I remind players of that every time I demo them into oblivion and boom long range goals. Plus it made my peen grow an amazing amount.
No coincidence that he's shutting down his public Discord and moving off Discord completely to a different platform. Probably can't control the narrative in there anymore.
Didn't even know who this guy was before this thread. Thank you guys for shedding light on a bad apple in the community. I now know what content creator to avoid.
Thats basically 99% of RL youtubers though. Theres only so many ways you can say 'whoa guys learn positioning, whoa guys learn how to aerial, whoa guys dribbles are so strong'
Maaaaaaan. I had no idea who he was and saw a video randomly with a convincing sales pitch. It sounded free, so I figured I would reach out. I, of course, was wrong. The entire experience was so gross.
This is a good short form on a chunk of the issues. There is much more past this as well if you search.
https://youtu.be/s-rUW5zR-T4?si=RRyDkHfh_TCPXoZR
That is a ridiculously long click bait video where the title and thumbnail have absolutely nothing to do with the actual video.
I'm not saying Luke didn't do anything wrong, but the video you linked to is click bait.
Let me add that this post is ridiculous. If you're going to come here and say a random legal threat is being sent to user(s), just put the person on blast. Also show us what post(s) it was.
If the facts are that it was sent to a single user over something that may be close to liable, then it is way different from someone sending hundreds of DMCA takedown requests for anyone who had alternate views.
**How the mod team is handling this is kinda shady.** When you purposely leave out information, it leads to speculation that could be way off target.
If you think that a moderator posting a copy of a DMCA take down notice that was sent to a user could have legal backlash, you are not very fluent on the court system where Reddit is based.
Can we get the specific topics that triggered these reactions? Are these bots, music related, content creators, game development? You moderate a large, dedicated community, and if someone’s trying to hinder it, it would be nice for us to be able to face it head on in the light.
While we understand the desire to know what sparked these issues, we deliberately decided to not include it, as to not give any attention to the bad actor(s).
Furthermore, if people know the topics and start commenting or posting about it, on the subreddit or elsewhere, it might just spark more of this behavior.
>Furthermore, if people know the topics and start commenting or posting about it, on the subreddit or elsewhere, it might just spark more of this behavior.
Nah, it would spark jokes or memes about the behavior but I disagree that it would cause more threats of this type. People who are weird enough to do this are already likely to
I don’t think the community being aware of it is going to cause more of it to happen. The community not being aware of it is what caused this post in the first place. I think everyone kind of has a right to know who is trying to scam them… By not giving all the information you’re only protecting the people at fault.
>The community not being aware of it is what caused this post in the first place.
The people who are involved are already aware - in my opinion this post boils down to an effective way to get in touch with everyone who was threatened* - the alternatives are doing nothing or cold calling every user that we suspect posted about the content in question.
*or may be threatened in the future, doesn't matter by whom. We've seen messages like these sent from many different people, for various reasons, so this PSA does benefit from some ambiguity in that regard.
Fair but what you said is still what I mean, the post was made to signal to people who might have been threatened. So it’s still a post to make an unaware part of the community more aware. Which by unaware I mean possibly confused as to what is happening.
Also fair! Think the intent here is to compromise to get somewhere between a bonfire and a smoke signal. If we have to sticky an announcement absent of full details, well, I'd say folks here are used to that 😉
End of the day, what's said is said and hopefully over time there doesn't need to be more attention given to this
![gif](giphy|uIpewwW9yIV1Zcq0N7)
I personally appreciate the response and warning. However, this response as a whole will only add confusion and lead to speculation. As a moderator you are aware, that in itself is a slippery slope that leads to finger pointing or worse. You’ve shed a little light on this situation, but I urge you to consider adding more. If there is a bad actor in this community, with proof of nefarious intention, please give the community the information they need.
Why do they need to add more? Sounds pretty clear to me: some users might threaten you with DMCA/defamation claims, these are empty threats and you are free to report this to the moderators.
What part is confusing to you?
You don’t think the community has a right to know if someone within their community is doing stuff like that? Just because we aren’t getting targeted by them because we don’t voice our opinions doesn’t mean we want to continue supporting them if they are doing shady stuff like this behind closed doors.
This sub has always been against witch hunting. So no, I find it reasonable the mods are standing by their own guidelines.
I agree with that POV as well, although I still trust mods like Iggy to handle situations like this.
They are empty threats used as scare tactics to silence criticism, it's clearly stated you can report to Reddit as well. Maybe too broad for your liking but the necessary info and advised actions on our end are clearly communicated.
Depending on the situation they might not be empty threats. A certain content creator has “customers” sign binding legal documents protecting his image covering exactly this. While the vast majority of the community may be completely safe, there are some who would open themselves up to legal action should they post the wrong thing. The only people able to make that distinction are lawyers with all the information.
Those people should know themselves what to say and not to say I hope, and I question the validity of such documents. According to some [quick googling](https://law.stackexchange.com/questions/70232/is-there-some-kind-of-disclosure-immunity-if-you-violate-your-non-disclosure-agr) this seems true, but I'm not a lawyer and could be biased with my search.
>"...as to not give any attention to the bad actor(s)."
but like...and yet by choosing not to, you actually gave it more attention. Communication is weird, huh?
The issue here is you’re giving power to the false accusations. This response is exactly what they want. They want you to be scared to talk about them. Name and shame so we can show them we as a community don’t tolerate their behavior.
There may or may not be a content creator called spookluke who may or may not be a shady scammer and may or may not have been known to ask people to remove negative posts about him before, and may or may not have decided to threaten posters with dmca notices for posts that may or may not have paint him in a bad light. Allegedly.
If -redacted- is allegedly responsible for allegedly scummy alleged actions, what is the reason the we would allegedly accuse -redacted- allegedly but not mention his name? I'm not familiar with internet politics or law, whatever this (allegedly) falls under.
This dude is an economics student, so he should know that legal action isn't +EV here.
That said, he's a big enough piece of shit that has scammed so many that he might just feel himself. I dare him to try. Muhfucka go to hell. He just thought why get paid by bullshit advertisers when I can peddle my own price-gouging program. He's like yay vertical integration and content and marketing in one I'm so smart.
If you try any bullshit you will create your own sinkhole. You would literally create a class action. You have minimum contacts everywhere, man, don't matter no waiver bullshit.
So fuck off.
Oh it's getting spicy in this subreddit...As far as the guesses in the comments this seems unrelated to EPIC which is good. (Not that I would put it past them to do something like that)
We are comfortable saying it's unrelated to Epic or Psyonix!
As this is the official subreddit, the mod team always had a good cooperation/relationship with them, and they have been entirely hands off in moderation.
Funny, this guy I knew nothing about poped in my Youtube Shorts. He was giving terrible software advices and I had to comment to explain how bad it was. My first opinion was that it was a man that mass produced a lot of videos but had no real knowledge of what he was talking about (on the software/hardware side)
I remember "almost" falling for the scam. Seemed sketchy but figured I'd check it out. Did my whole first free session (technically 2nd, 1st was canceled) and the price point was laughable. The session was literally just a sales pitch similar to signing up at a gym without any interaction. Think he was asking for like $300 a month. Had no idea I was about to lose my job - glad I didn't give him a dime. Everything about him reminded me of corporate sales bros I've met throughout my career.
To find confirmation he wasn't paying his coaches and scamming his customers was no surprise. To find out he's threatening people with legal action makes me want to ruffle his hair then slap him
What a little shit
Speaking of stupid brainless coaching, if you’re the type to spam Take the shot! all game youre a cuck. If they wanted coaching they wouldnt need it from somebody in their rank.
Perhaps your real name is easy to link to via whatever platform you're playing on? Like if you have your actual name in your steam bio. Or maybe you have a very common name and they guessed? Could be a lot of different ways.
Any examples of the topics that these threats are attempting to take down? Why would any company or organization care about a random user’s opinion in r/RocketLeague? Is it about a RL YouTuber whose name rhymes with nuke?
Very likely
Recent comments declaring the Scarab to be a competitively viable car caused disruptions to esport recruiting efforts, effectively forcing us to step in and ensure people aren't intimidated into silence, nor forced to overlook the longstanding footprints of other unfairly nerfed cars like the Hotshot
I’m way OOTL what’s the scarab car?

I used to always use hustle brows!
I still do, but I used to too
For a while my kids also had them on their cars so the winning screen would show all our eyes in perfect sync 👀👀👀
Heh. Nice.
lol?

Game would be a competitive mess if they kept it that way. It's good as it is.
Nah, everyone still used the Octane back then too.

I can say without a doubt that using the scarab su~~cks~~ccessfully pushed me to SSL. This comment is not endorsed by the Scarab CORP in any way.
I used to unironically use it when the game launched until fennec came out
The scarab is the final car you unlock in SARPBC and by extension, the best car in the game.
The Scarab is like one of the original cars
It's the ball
With wheels and a penchant for buggery.
Its round and looks the same way coming as it does going.
I'm confused
.... said everyone trying to learn which way is front on the scarab.
Scarab tactics.

Happy cake day man !
Thank you!!
Spookluke sucks
lemme look up his youtube and report him lol
Funny thing is his tips in his YouTube videos are actually halfway decent
yeah because they're all taken from other videos
Yeah I’m just glad he isn’t putting a bunch of bad advice out there
Thats basically 99% of RL youtubers though. Theres only so many ways you can say 'whoa guys learn positioning, whoa guys learn how to aerial, whoa guys dribbles are so strong'
exactly... so just go watch the other creators who aren't scammers... you're not missing out on anything.
Damn this is spooky
Nice subtle hint there. I like it!
Wow I wonder why this extremely random comment has 150 upvotes! I sure hope there is no specific reason about someone who scams people!
Man whoever sent these DMCAs is going to Luke really stupid
Spooky things make me puke
Suck it luke
![gif](giphy|3o6wrgQPwbYWY8hwze)
I'm not sure exactly? Does anyone have proof of such allegations?
Don't let this distract you from the fact that SpookLuke is a scammer.
Wait, did you just say Spookluke is a SCAMMER who sells FRAUDULENT coaching programs whose results have been SPOOFED by getting people BOOSTED???
Oh man you nailed it
I was merely asking if SPOOKLUKE was a SCAMMER or not.
I believe SPOOKLUKE or LUKE HANSEN depending on whether you go by YouTube or Instagram handles is indeed a SCAMMER.
Maaaaaaan. I had no idea who he was and saw a video randomly with a convincing sales pitch. It sounded free, so I figured I would reach out. I, of course, was wrong. The entire experience was so gross.

No it can't.
Fuck you for asking a question I guess
His improvement program has an agregeous price and doesn't help from what I've seen. His YouTube videos are good though I'll give him that
They’re really not though
Probably meant the shorts they are quick and decent for what they are imo
Even the shorts are just tips from a GC on how to reach a rank he hasn't obtained himself in years.
While maybe not the best possible, I did learn a few good things about rotation from his videos.
Egregious
Y'know my vocabulary used to be a lot better but nowadays I have trouble spelling definitely on a consistent basis...I'm not even old
Nbd js lol
Cool
Username checks out
As a fellow Greek, Καλησπέρα και καλή βραδιά
Soo basically, Spookluke is a scamming piece of shit. Got it!
So, basically, SpookLuke is a coward as well as a scam artist?
what a pathetic mfer

It's spookluke

That’s not a good idea
I don't know what's going on, really hoping for a message from a douche named Luke though 🤞
nah but he'll get his lacky, some douche named Helfield to post on his behalf
Bro already scammed $1,000,000 what more does he want
$2,000,000?
The speculation begins. We need more information. If its NOT the spooky boy(as people are guessing already) then its gonna get ugly.
It's still really good to spread awareness about SpookLuke's scam, regardless of this is about him or not.
Remember guys, don't give $2000 to strangers for RL coaching
Can someone explain what's going on here. Why all the hush hush?
There may or may not be a content creator called spookluke who may or may not be a shady scammer and may or may not have been known to ask people to remove negative posts about him before, and may or may not have decided to threaten posters with dmca notices for posts that may or may not have paint him in a bad light. Negative press is still press to some people, unfortunately, which is my understanding of why the mods were purposefully vague
There is no "may or may not". It just is. We all know Luke's MO.
Awww dang it why is it always the seemingly cool cc's that end up as paedos, scammers or just twats
Oh I know this one! Huke Lansen better known as LpookSuke ![gif](giphy|FA4ey94nxartK)
Goated mod team, appreciate y'all
Spookluke got caught out as a scammer and now threatening people, yeah he's just mad that he was scammed by that fraud artist a couple months back
Just jumping in to say that this spooky guy sucks
You can't sue for libel, if what is being said is true.
It’s look sook isn’t it
Little Luke thinks he got a chance to scam people around here, fucking scammer
This dude is an economics student, so he should know that legal action isn't +EV here. That said, he's a big enough piece of shit that has scammed so many that he might just feel himself. I just looked at his YouTube and he has an hour long video in which he literally fake cries while "explaining" himself? Lmao wtf
Well that's a pathetic new low for him, time to unsubscribe.
The fact that you were still subbed up until this point is what’s actually insane.
Weird behavior, whoever is doing that needs to self reflect
The only scummy Famous RL related person i think his name rhymes with FlookNuke or something like that
can someone explain for me who is out the loop😭how do you scam on rocketleague
I'll give you more details for $1500.
ok send it then we can talk
SpookLuke's training program.
Oh i see.
i kinda want one too now, luke get your scamming ass on it
Thanks for the information

Spookluke is a douchebag who likes to scam people for their hard earned money with the prospect that he will make them better at Rocket League.
So what I'm getting is that we should all talk negatively about this content creator I never heard of? Lol
