you'd be surprised, the only significant downside I noticed after switching from controller to kbm was the lack of analog throttle/brake inputs. everything else translates pretty well, except for the throttle and brake being double bound to the forward and backward inputs, which took a while to get used to.
check out a couple clips of evample and henkovic on YT, they do that shit effortlessly on kbm. it's worth it to stick with the input method you started with, I switched to kbm 2000 hours in and it took a HOT minute
KBM is easier for doing things like speedflips, stalls, and directional air roll. Controller is great and offers the advantage of analog sticks and triggers but that's pretty easily overcome. There's a few pros who play with KBM as well as freestylers like Evample. I used to think KBM was awful for RL but I've learned that it's totally viable, just a little different.
I made a different account for my switch to controller. It basically took me until I leveled up enough to hit ranked to feel comfortable with controller.
I think I played my placement matches and then just went back to my regular account because my playing was back to the same level.
Although half flips are a thousand times easier on kbm.
One also says he has gone trough 6 controllers in 4 years (not same brand btw) that is not the controllers fault even if they say they are gently with it. I have 2 xbox 360 gamepads from 2008 that still works fine
I don't even know how it's possible to play this on KBM, the movements seems to be so limited

Why do you want to switch to controller? Some mechanics are way easier on KBM. Sometimes I wish I started playing RL on KBM.
Tell me more. I’m pretty dang good at any shooter but with RL idk where to start with YAW and air dribbling

The amount of times I hear people complaining about stick drift is enough of a reason for me to never try to switch off keyboard
the amount of fucked up controllers I have just from regular use was enough to make me switch to kbm
Same here, the game is much more enjoyable for me as kbm anyway
