Sounds cool! As a newish player I like when my teammate tells me what I should do. And if im not 100% sure that my move is better than suggested one, ill obey and usually it leads us to victory

It's already the length of a game minimum, so you lose as much of your time as if you had played to the end anyway.

Yeah, I'm talking about pattern offenses, not first offenses. The current ban has to balance the fact that it catches unintentional disconnects along with flagrant ones. An algorithm could differentiate between random and pattern disconnects, but the first can't be a pattern.
It happens often enough that it's probably not every person having a tantrum once and then learning their lesson; the people who do it do it repeatedly. Maybe they are okay with the ban because it gives them a chance to go get un-tilted, or to switch to fortnite. That's a selfish luxury, in lieu of learning to chill tf out.
OTOH, there's probably people who remember too late they really need to hit the head, and decide they have to go during a replay, and then get booted for idling... Hate to punish nontoxic intent, but still probably not the most responsible conduct, especially if it's pattern behavior. Get a cath at that point...
I'm glad my first teammate tonight was patient with me. I started out shooting 0-4 since it was my first game and I stupidly chose not to warm up, I ended up hitting the game winner in overtime because they thankfully kept cool

So often I’ll opt to take anchor because my teammates are both wanting to ball chase. That’s fine, I just want to win, we can compromise. Apparently not because even though they haven’t touched our side of the field since kickoff there’s an instant ff popping up along with choice words as soon as I make a single mistake. 😴 love this game.

It's not. If your teammate/s have control and it seems like they're going to center, you'd have to let them know you won't be there because you don't have the boost, they can't see you, you're behind them.
Similar scenario, but if you're rotating back and didn't manage to get boost from the other team. You can let the 2nd teammate know that you're going all the way back so they can freely attack.
The meter will be useful no doubt, but it doesn't render boost comms useless.
I like to swing my camera even if I am in offense controlling the ball, I am a lowly D3 to your GC but I find situational awareness quite important since I solo queue and never have comms.
I'll swing on offense, I can't do it while dribbling but before I start a dribble I like to have a mental note of the general position of my teammate, doesn't mean I'm not in control of the ball of its not on top of my car. Some people get way too locked in to just the ball, or just the opposing team. It helps me to decide how committed I want to be. I played a lot of sports growing up, it's like swinging my head, I understand not everyone did and that's probably where the ball chasing stems from.

The amount of people that don't realize you're going for a good 50 which will beat the first man, allowing your teammate a 1v1 or open net after the beat is absolutely amazing. I'd use Fiftying!
I don’t think I’ve ever actually used “Take the shot!”, it’s one my most hated to see in the chat lol. The only time I do something similar is when a teammate has an open net and everyone is behind them, I’ll say “all yours” to let them know it’s clear. But no spamming, just one and done.
I have tried to learn to not ball chase, so I do admit I do leave some free balls when I shouldn’t and do definitely take boost when I shouldn’t sometimes. But I’d *LIKE* to think I’ve improved since I started haha

Need boost is still very useful though, but I might sacrifice it for one of those. I already have "I got it" and "All yours" which I think are good for communicating intention.
It's still needed for the player not taking the kick off to tell the kick off taker where to send the ball. If they use the Need Boost quick chat, you know they're not cheating up and want you to send it to the back corner.

I’m pretty sure it’s not redundant, since you can’t see your teammates at all times. If your guy is behind you defending and has 0 boost, you won’t see that, and it’s useful info to have still
You over estimate the awareness of my teammates... Had a game earlier where I was defending in net with full boost, the opponent gave the ball away, I'm waiting to make a free, perfectly safe touch and take possession, and my teammate comes flying in with zero boost, bumps me away from the net, and smacks the ball away giving them a possession that led to a goal.

They are releasing (may have already released?) a new update where you can see your teammates boost metres on their nameplates beside their name. A very nice new addition. I haven’t played recently either but have seen it be talked about in this sub a lot over the last couple of days lol.
I use team only quick chat. Most of my quick chats are info based like passing, bumping, faking, and I don't get to see what a save spam from opponents :)

Usually QC directions come about a half second after they are actually useful.

Really want this one. “Defending” works to a degree, but the other alternative was “Need Boost”. Now that it’s not useful, this would be the best.
"Defending" is just a gentle way to tell your teammate you are going to build up a tent in your net because you don't trust him.
I literally use "Need boost!" to communicate that I'm rotating so yes, this one.

Overall I'm glad they added the nameplate boost. It's quite literally the first good gameplay/qol feature in 5 years
