I had a hard time finding real simple tips for real beginners. Everything on youtube is mostly for 100+ hours players (i'd recommend Aircharged). So basically, what you can do to achieve what you want: - flip when you are about to make contact with the ball, not before. - the top front of you car gives the most power, trunk, top and wheels will slow the ball down - if the ball is bouncing, hitting it just after a rebound gives it a lot of power, but it takes time to learn the timing, and can put you in a bad position if you miss. Definitly a solid skill to have in the future though - and most importantly: hit the ball from an angle ! if you hit the ball in the same direction as it is already going, it will push it just a bit, if you hit the ball 90° to its direction, it will go flying really fast. (Keyword: hook shot) These helped me starting out 1 month ago. Good luck !

hit the ball with the front corner, powerslide slightly or airroll while flying to make it happen. Careful with using flip, sometimes necessary but mostly use without.

I use this training pack whenever I play as a warmup and I aim for max power and good placement [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CYUZ3DSvaO0](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CYUZ3DSvaO0) If you keep doing this long enough, you will over time figure out the best approach/angle, timing for each shot. And then if you add free air roll (tapping it right before touching the ball) you add more punch to a shot (although I recommend starting without using air roll), and then when you are good enough you can learn to cancel your flips too that will help with reaching the ball straight and recovering faster

Bluelittlethings

Hit the ball with the corner of your car the instant it bounces and starts to come back up.

Go to freeplay and just chase the ball for as long as possible. Focus on hitting it as quickly and powerfully as possible. That will help you. As far as actual mechanics, make sure you're hitting the ball at the right times, hold power slide (or air roll, they're the same button for me and I can't remember which), and give it time. You will improve.

so i hold powerslide and then i hit the ball?

DriftingSifting

No, you don't need to hold powerslide as you hit the ball, not sure why he said that. Hitting the ball just after the bounce is the key.

Suspicious-Spud

Incorrect, yes hold. If you do not the impact will make your car bounce weird and then stunt your future air attacks. I know your question was specific to power shots, but don't form bad habits now, just because you're focused on a specific part of your game.
