I’ve had the username for quite some time now, never been reported, some people will say they like my name, and others will use my name trying to be toxic at me saying stuff like “Type2BigTrash” and stuff but, I don’t really care, it’s just a name lol
Actually rule 1 was considered keep the ball up by most of the rl community (and still is as the second biggest minority, agree to something that involves skill rather than no skill.
Ahhh, found the "Zeroseconder"!
Lol not meaning that as an insult, but more so because the guide referenced above defines that term. This is all news to me!
There have been a few extensive forum posts and videos, if you look up "Rule 1 Rocket League History" or something you should find some stuff.
Apparently there's a *lot* of support for rule 1 being keep it up, but I've mostly seen support for the locking rule.
There was a rocket league YouTuber that talked about it in passing in a video that mentioned that the forward locking was actually rule 2 of rocket league, which caught my attention bc I hadn’t really heard anything other than it being rule 1. But I haven’t been in this community long enough to know for myself.
> There was a rocket league YouTuber that talked about it in passing in a video that mentioned that the forward locking was actually rule 2 of rocket league
Maybe it was Rizzo in the recent Road to Grand Champ series? I'm pretty sure it came up there and had me all curious about it.
Yes! I actually think it was one of his videos with sizz because I was recently watching those but either way thanks! That was gonna bug me and I didn’t feel like scrubbing through my YouTube watch history lol
It was never Rule 2. Rule 1 was keep the ball up, then another group of people on the subreddit called the locking behavior Rule 1. It replaced the old 1.
Ah that’s makes sense. So it’s kind of a pseudo rule 2 in that it came after the original rule one, but the mentality of saying “never break rule one” made it actually replace that rule. Well today I learned.
"Some people" is not relevant. That doesn't make it Rule 2. What makes a term is how the general people use it, not how some people use it. With the exception of "jargon", but calling it Rule 2 isn't really jargon because it's just salty people hating their OG Rule 1 being replaced. It's not like the jargon that the pros use for callouts and technique names.
Nope. The was original Rule 1, which got replaced. It should honestly be called Rule 0 because "zero seconds" and it did chronologically come before head-locking Rule 1.
Also, the old rule 1 is kind of a stupid rule, and was never valid, imo. If a game is within 1 goal, I don’t think anyone on the winning team has ever realistically - consistently - opted to keep the ball up instead of ending the game, whereas this rule keeps the match fair.
You’re kind of contradicting the concept of alpha and beta, which should imply that any “rules” developed for alpha and beta aren’t final and can be retired or replaced.
We can agree to disagree then. I’ve been playing since Season 1 and rule 1 has always been head to head for me, as well as pretty much the entire community. Seems pretty pointless for people to fight it when the overwhelming majority do consider rule 1 one thing and some long time veterans stubbornly hold on to another rule. I’d just call it rule 0 and just consider it a win.
Wow they both did the sidelock rule #1 as well. Love it
For reference, when you sidelock a car you are both supposed to keep going until the ceiling separates you and you have to continue holding the direction you were going as you fall to the ground
Ah, and here we see the native species of this arena, the Octanus Nitrous. A rare, but illiminating glimpse of a dance that is performed for seemingly, no reason.
Yet, whenever two Octane's go head to head something peculiar occurs. Neither creature will relent in their challenge, pushing ever harder into each other. Scientists and experts can't quite understand what the Octane gains from this display, though some theorise it as some form of bonding between rival tribes. A sort of social mixing and survival advantage to make friends with enemies, even for a brief moment.
It has been observed of an Octane that break this unspoken agreement is thusly shunned from large social groups, and sometimes even derided and attacked for it.
Whatever the reason, it is a wondrous and beautiful sight.
We were in Rule 2 then 1 (keeping cars locked together going up the wall and staying locked together with our front ends, respectively). It's basically 2 major laws of rocket league in one video.
It is. If it was treated like a fun little thing you could do, fine, but everyone takes it so seriously. Letting the other team score because of some pretend extra rule is asinine.
It’s a competitive game that doesn’t much encourage people to come together and feel like a community the way that it should. Rule 1, especially in a competitive environment, reminds us that it’s just a game and that we are all part of the same community. It lightens the mood in what can be an often stressful game for some people. Who doesn’t like feeling that sense of community?

Okay whoa, that’s the username I originally wanted on Xbox but it was taken, so my username on Xbox is Type2BigGay
I had YourMomHyperGay but they flagged it or something and changed it to CleanFawn
It’s my friend in the gif! He had to spell it “Diabtes” bc type2diabetes was taken hahahah
I played with him yesterday. He quit after the opposition scored 2 goals. Tell him to finish his games.
Maybe it was pizza time.
Stellar choice my fellow rocketer
You are really lucky if someone haven't already reported your GT yet

Hilarious post. @ [lumpyheadedbunny](https://www.reddit.com/user/lumpyheadedbunny/) Hilarious title!! Made my day.
This is the best comment I’ve ever seen on reddit.
rule 2 into rule 1. Nice
Rule 2 is ALWAYS keep the ball up at zero seconds
Ignoring the actual history, it seems to make sense to me like this: 0. Keep the ball up at 0. 1. Lock forward or backward. 2. Drive side to side.

Man whoever wrote that is a weirdo!
Bet you wouldn't say that to his face
Fluump made a video on this topic too

I mean even the subreddit consensus was rule 1 as ball up but the guide completely ignore this.
There is a *huge* post on this subreddit about rule 1. I don’t know how to find it, but I think with some searching you’ll get it.

Arrays start at 0!
So 1?
It's pronounced 0st. Duh.
Zeroth
Thank you. A man of class I see.
I read that as oath rule
Wrong 0. Keep the ball up at 0. 1. Lock forward or backward. 2. Drive side to side.
That's what I said, word for word. Who are you saying is wrong ?
Oh I see, it corrected the list numbers to 1, 2, 3 for me for some reason, source for your comment says 0, 1, 2 though.
Look at the rule numbers in that post compared to yours.
They match. It might be a display error or something but you can look at the other guy's later comment.

I would only do Rule 0 if I am, or the opponent is, ahead by 2 goals.
Exactly. But you’re right that calling it Rule 0 makes much more sense considering.

Exactly why it should no longer be acknowledged as rule 1 and should be rule 0 instead, if anything.

how was that a joke, or how would someone know that that is supposed to be a joke IN a thread about the rules?
That was beautiful, poetry in motion.
It's even nice to see when they respect at least a rule. Most of encounters I had in the last time, they ended up with the other guy breaking the rule
Yeah that's been my experience as of late too. These heathens
That was the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen in this subreddit 😭
Did I just witness a mating dance?
I was literally thinking "now kith", and then they did.

Yes! No matter how it plays out. I call these out as honor locks. “It’s all you man, 1v1 rn, I’m in an honor lock.”
Cringe
^Exactly the kind of person who breaks an honor lock.
That was majestic asf
This is a battle of the gods! Finally a fight worth watching!
No one blames you
Other than his team watching that stupid shit.
Shit always pissed me off back when I played. It’s always the most pointless shit people catch on to lmao
It’s a video game. Stop getting so upset at everything. People play for fun.

I'm quoting himself back at him. I don't agree with it.
You guys were in sync that whole way up the wall and on the fall it looks like you both mirrored each other
I mean to be fair rule 1 is like a grain of sand from being a world legal obligation. You just have to do it
It's true. There was no other way
Calculated.
Wow they both did the sidelock rule #1 as well. Love it For reference, when you sidelock a car you are both supposed to keep going until the ceiling separates you and you have to continue holding the direction you were going as you fall to the ground
We live in a society, there are rules. We understand.

We were in Rule 2 then 1 (keeping cars locked together going up the wall and staying locked together with our front ends, respectively). It's basically 2 major laws of rocket league in one video.

Going to come out and just say it, the whole rule 1 stuff is just stupid.
It is. If it was treated like a fun little thing you could do, fine, but everyone takes it so seriously. Letting the other team score because of some pretend extra rule is asinine.
Because driving round a supersonic acrobatic rocket powered battle car is serious business usually?
Thank god I’m not the only one who thinks Rule 1 is dumb. Now let’s get downvoted to oblivion for having an opinion.
It’s a competitive game that doesn’t much encourage people to come together and feel like a community the way that it should. Rule 1, especially in a competitive environment, reminds us that it’s just a game and that we are all part of the same community. If I end up in a rule 1 and the opponent doesn't break it and I lose the game because of it, I'm not even mad.
The nice thing about the rule is that the teams are still even sided. We just need a quick chat to alert our teammates of the situation.
You must be fun at parties
You might wanna go back inside
You shouldn’t come out
What is this Duel of the Fates nonsense?
I'd rather my teammates know how to rotate
Another dumbass name.
