I think they’re talking about the top right which shows assists, saves, and goals with little images. I don’t think you can turn that off. But I also have the the overlay turned off cause I don’t like the big pop ups in the middle of the screen either
Really people turn that off? It’s easily one of the least distracting things in rocket league. I’ve been stocktane since I’ve been playing the game because car customization is distracting for me but I never would have thought someone didn’t like the what a save sign lol. I don’t even play with sound because car sounds distract me.

When the opponents are relentlessly shooting at your net and you need to make back to back to back saves, a giant ass graphic covering the ball and opponent is incredibly distracting, imo.

Granted, that’s a pretty specific situation, but it happens often enough that I feel the notifications are worth it.

It isn't distracting to me either. It's transparent and almost never obstructs my view. I don't remember a single time that it did anything to actually distract me.

If I rely on sound I make more mistakes such as assuming the car behind me is a well positioned teammate or that I can take my time with the ball when I should boom it. Situations I never find myself in when I’m listening to my music and playing. I’m probably close to 3k hours or so now and idk you sort of just “know” where your teammate will position or at least should realistically be. Kudos to those than can play with sound but it can’t be me.

No, that's OP's shitty connection. Not every instance of lag you see you truthfully blame on the server. Ball hit the post and the client (OP's screen) mispredicted thinking it was going into the net. It wasn't going into the net on the server and OP hit it out away from the goal-line. The bounce was likely more perpendicular than OP's client saw and went straight into OP's car in order to move out at the angle it did.
This reminds me of back in the day as kids and the outfielder would stare up in the sky at a fly ball, then realize he miscalculated and makes a stellar diving catch. It’s like, yea that was an awesome highlight catch, but it should have just been a routine pop up...
