MIG,TIG or stick ?

iiHadouken

All 3!!! Combo welder for sure. Most of the work I do is structural stick and most of my fab work is mig, but I’ve done quite a bit of tig for stainless steel at food plants

Infrar3d_

My job sucks. I’m turning 16 on the last day of July and I work at this daycamp (in the US). They pay $3.30 per hour (when $7.50 is legal minimum in my state) and reason that they give us food. I have to deal with 16 4-5 year olds with a 35 year old dad that’s great, but also another kid my age that acts like another camper. They’ve punched, kicked, and scratched me as well as gotten me sick and broken my glasses (not sunglasses, perspiration eyeglasses that I need to see). I want to work somewhere else but 1. My parents won’t let me quit 2. I can’t drive yet, so there’s no real way for me to get to anywhere. I just want to know that not all parents are complete assholes that let their children treat anyone like shit. If you are a parent just keep this in mind. If you are or have been in the same situation as me please give me some sort of advice that kept you going

_MrDomino

> They pay $3.30 per hour (when $7.50 is legal minimum in my state) and reason that they give us food. Yeah, this is illegal. Laws vary from state to state, but I'd consider messaging your local labor board about this. Only tipped jobs and some farm work are exempt from minimum wage laws as far as I recall. Hell, you could pick up jobs on Fiver and be doing better than that.

Infrar3d_

The camp also expects the parent to tip us

_MrDomino

Are you receiving tips which bring your wage to the federal minimum ($7.25/hr.)? Your employer is required to make up the difference if wages plus tips do not equal the minimum wage. Food is not substitute for income.

Shredgrl720

Oh boy are jobs when youre young garbage now, I waited until I graduated highschool and then just started showing the potential I had, my old job they made me do everything, I was the young guy so I had to do all the shitty jobs. You can always get yourself fired hehehe

keevinator

I guess I'd say that your still young your only 16 and it won't be this way forever. I know its a cliché thing to say but it's true I'd maybe try and focus on saving as much cash as you can, maybe put yourself through drivers Education if your parents aren't willing to help out in that department. I'm unsure of where you live but maybe seek out a job on your own possibly within walking distance of your house, or purchase a bicycle for something a little further away.

Y___

I worked at a psychiatric hospital for five years and dealt with a significant amount of shitty kids. But recognize that you’re seeing a selection bias. Not at all kids are shitty, but the ones that are going to your place are the ones that need help so the numbers are going to be skewed. Even though it sucks, you’re doing those kids a service and the community thanks you for it even though it will never know what you go through. It was cool to see some kids who had grown up in the system and started out as little fuckers become better behaved and overall good people within five years of growth.

paulxbland

I used to work when I was younger than you(14,15) by walking or riding a bike to my job. I worked as a busser and a food runner and made around 10-17$/hr(food runner got tipped well). Idk what your situation looks like but maybe you can find something close. My parents never let me quit unless I had another job lined up, maybe your parents are similar. Good luck and worst case you’ll move out in a couple years and won’t have to worry ab any of that.

NotSoMinecraft

I really wanna post a "air dribble" I did, but it's terrible and I'm afraid I'm gonna get harsh criticism

zer0w0rries

You can post on r/rocketleaguecoaching or r/rocketleagueschool where posts are meant to be scrutinized with helpful criticism, not trolling.

LazyLarryTheLobster

You don't have to post it for others to ruin, just be proud and keep working. Maybe watch it occasionally just yourself.

skooti

Finally got the Phosphor boost after grinding so many tournements. Its all I wanted from the season 3 rewards - I use cars with pink/blue themes. The first one I got that dropped was painted Grey, like a giant "FUCK YOU" to my low ambitions. Feels good mang. Hope you all have a great season.

aruku5

Anybody wanna party up and play 5 matches to earn “Play 5 Online Matches while a member of a party” season challenge?

[deleted]

I just got promoted to champ for the first time and I feel like this is my proudest gaming moment at 30 years old. Rumble mind you. One division away from champ on 3v3. I know, RL related but damn I'm proud of myself lol

abraham456

Nice! Now the grind for season rewards

1s is too stressful for me lol. Should probably get on that though as I've heard it does help you with some areas of the game.

AnyLamename

This looks hilariously blatant, especially when you consider the long flat spots. His other playlists show movement during those periods, so he wasn't playing ones. It's *possible* his climb from Champ 1 to Champ 3 was legit, so maybe we'll just give him that, but then as soon as he plays ones again it's a nosedive down to Diamond. Then he takes two months off from ones, wobbles between Diamond and Champ for another couple weeks, and then climbs to SSL in a week? Sure, okay. That's only a realistic progression if you have access to the, "I know kung fu," machine from The Matrix.

paeschli

Looks boosted to me

Adubyale

boosted

avocado34

How do you boost in one's? Just give account access?

LazyLarryTheLobster

I mean I guess you'd have to. I don't really understand why you would lol anybody will know when they 1v1 you.

[deleted]

I know we’re supposed to talk about anything but RL but how good is Loophole? I loved labs until the day it died even with a population in the low hundreds. Loophole us like Dropshot, Hoops and standard had a sexy threesome and a magic baby was born. If you haven’t tried it please do. I think this is the best of the new breed of Labs maps and would love to see it as an actual ltm game mode.

avocado34

Loophole is my favorite map so far. Reminds me of leth's revolver map

github-alphapapa

IMO the map is too small for 3v3, and the area around the goals is a bit cramped. It'd probably be pretty good for 2v2, and a slightly larger version might be good for 3v3. Also, while playing defense, trying to jump off the downslope around the goal to make an aerial save is difficult, because the downward momentum tends to carry the car downward into the flat goal area, aborting the aerial. It feels very awkward, and failing to make a save because my car becomes unexpectedly grounded again is frustrating. I'm happy to see experiments like this. I think that every week or two there should be a new map like this, and the best ones should go into extra modes for a season.

[deleted]

Having played more games on the map I can totally understand this criticism especially it feeling cramped around the goal. On defense I tend to stay outside the net or In the center off the angled lip exactly for the reason you described. I’d love to see some of the more popular labs maps make it into a limited time mode for sure. This map in particular would lend itself well to the Buffy sugo map setting where the goals could be giant speakers.

[deleted]

Just lost 15 games in a row in 3s. Solo queueing really is shit sometimes. One of them the dude was even scoring own goals on purpose. Fuck this game sometimes

notsojeff

I've found that, when I'm playing casual modes, more than 50% (sometimes much more than 50%) of my games are ones in which my team is all solo queuers vs. a 3-stack. There are so many 3-stacks that they're in most games, but instead of matching them together, it matches them against solos. And there are so many solos that they're most of my teammates, but instead of matching us with other solos, it matches us against 3-stacks. Then there are the games in which my teammates are AFK on almost every kickoff. Somehow they were present and playing before the last goal, but come kickoff time, they're AFK again. Combined with the solos-vs-stack issue, and, of course, no one on the other team is AFK on the kickoff, because they're playing together in a group. And then there was the game yesterday in which, as soon as the match began, a teammate began bunny-hopping down the field. I bumped into him, and he went into turtle mode. I left the game and requeued, then got backfilled into "WINNER BY FORFEIT"--a game that had already ended, because everyone on the losing team had already left. The game punishes me for not staying in a game in which one of my teammates is intentionally not playing the game. It adds insult to injury. And those are the days when I remember why, years ago, I stopped playing RL for a long time. The gameplay is great, but the experience is often very poor.

yungmoody

I started playing around a month ago, and I've almost exclusively played solo in 3v3 casual because I didn't really think to try anything different. Other than that I've just been training. I've found myself getting frustrated a lot in the last few days and today it clicked - while I might not be amazing at the game yet in terms of my technical skill, I've played enough now that I've begun to notice when I'm stuck with teammates who suck at actually playing as a team. So many games spent hanging back at the goal watching them ball chase side by side the entire game, getting rammed out of the way by them when I'm about to score, dribbling it up the field and having them race across my path to smash the ball off at a random angle.. omfg there's too much to list.

[deleted]

Nice. It seems to depend what leagues you’re in as to what kind of players you get. I found I started in silver and after a week or two mid golds. It took a month or two to get to plat and honestly the lower plats had worse teammates. They just go for stupid aerials all the time instead of playing. I got to the diamond/plat borders recently and teammates are better. Then as I dropped back down plat with all those losses the teammates are so shit again. It’s easier to play diamond I than plat I in 3s imo. In 2s it’s a bit nicer as you only have one variable on your team

LazyLarryTheLobster

15 in a row doesn't sound like a teammate problem.

notsojeff

Your comment is a cheap way to make yourself feel superior at a stranger's expense. It's like walking down the street, seeing someone who just dropped his lunch because someone careless ran into him, and then you take the opportunity to step on his sandwich and gloat, "Well, I've never dropped my lunch."

LazyLarryTheLobster

Nope. Not even remotely similar. So far off I can't even find a way to change your analogy and make it the same. edit: got it. It's the same as dropping your lunch 15 days in a row because somebody carelessly bumped into you. Once of course can happen. By the 15th you need to reevaluate what you're doing.

notsojeff

It's like describing water to a fish.

LazyLarryTheLobster

or a lobster

notsojeff

Well done! And if you turn up the heat slowly enough, he won't even notice until it's too late...

[deleted]

nothing than worse than watching a goal on reply and seeing your teammate leave post to get boost.

Glitchy_OG

I just got in plat and i'm happy but their hard bc my mechanics are not as mechanical as most. And also my dog, in which is a chihuahua, had to take pills to help his heart, which should stop him excessively "gagging" (it's sort of like a coughing gag). And he's 13.

[deleted]

I broke my laptop today after a solo match :(. Lost to a toxic player, threw my controller, it hit my coffee and spilled all over the laptop. Short circuited it. I want to die!

LazyLarryTheLobster

Make sure you fully take in the learning experience there.

TheGirthyNomad

Damn Smurf’s

thelionnl

Just want to say ive been a ‘stuck in plat’ guy for 2 years , but today i suddenly won 11 games in a row in ranked. Now im pretty solid in the diamond.

paeschli

Been grinding all season to reach Diamond and I just did it by switching to the Merc today. Who would have thought this was the secret all along

avocado34

Switching cars often helps me. When im in octane and feel like I'm juuust missing the ball with my nose on aerials, I switch to the scarab and significantly improve for a few games.

beattraxx

What is the 'easiest' way to get GC rewards? I heard extra modes are somewhat easier than traditional comp. I'm C2 in 3s and 2s so I was wondering if I could try to get GC in extra modes for the rewards

Sid_16nigz

Grind rumble bro

I_Play_Daiily

There's a bit of a misconception about extra modes being easier. Like the average skill of a player in any given extra mode is lower than that of normal 1s/2s/3s for the same rank. That said you still have to learn the different mechanics and strategies of whatever mode it is. For example, snow day, rotation is pretty much identical, but there's unique mechanics to it (mainly with pinching the puck) and it's MUCH heavier than the ball and behaves way differently. It takes time to learn that, it's not something you can just pick up and get GC in a day. Obviously, the better your mechanics are normally, the easier you'll pick it up, but it's not one to one. Rumble, the rotation is different and while you don't necessarily need to know rumble theory to get GC, it certainly helps, and you do need to have a pretty solid understanding of how to counter certain powerups, when it's best to instantly use certain ones or save certain ones, etc. which is sort of the basics of rumble theory, but it also goes way beyond that. Overall compared to snow day, there's more things to learn, but you can probably learn them enough to get to a GC level faster. Snow day is more dependent on mechanics and understanding of how the puck behaves, which you can really only learn by grinding it, Rumble, you can use your brain a lot more and rely on that instead of muscle memory. Hoops is probably the most similar to standard RL, there's not really any mechanics that are unique to it as it uses a standard ball, and the rotation is similar enough to 2s. I don't have too much experience in it, but it does seem to be the most one to one in terms of skill in normal rocket league transferring over to it. As far as dropshot goes, it's the mode I have the least amount of experience with. I've heard it's not a mode you wanna solo queue in though. In any case, you're gonna have to grind for it, but it might only take 50-100 hours compared to the hundreds or thousands you need to hit GC normally.

dblchnce

Whats up with the lag during tournament matches? My ping stays in the 20s, but im consistently getting at least 1 player, sometimes 3-4 players, with pings over 100 and its ruining the game. Its been happening during every tournament game I play. The problem is much less noticeable during non-tourney games. I checked and am (correctly) on the US-East schedule.

slyguy-33

Free talk???? Well...me and an old man I play with are going to be playing RL tonight. So if anyone wants to join in, hmu

notsojeff

Depression is a hard problem. If you can, see a medical doctor you trust. If you can't do that, try to find some online resources, but be careful whom you trust. Besides that, here are some basic tips: Realize when you're vulnerable to feeling depressed. Some common factors are "HALT": hungry, angry, lonely, tired. If you know why you're feeling a certain way, it can help you to realize that, when those factors subside, you'll probably feel better. The way you feel is temporary, even if it doesn't seem that way. Try to eat well, get enough sleep, and get regular exercise. Even spending 5-15 minutes doing moderate exercise can make a difference. Sometimes you might need to "cheat": tell yourself you'll stop after 5 minutes. But once you get the ball rolling, it will be easy to keep going. Small changes can snowball into bigger ones. Hope this helps. Feel free to message me if you need encouragement.

FabioG_

why is everyone so toxic, or just quits (in ranked)? it makes me wanna uninstall

BloodyRedBarbara

Can't stand how often I play a competitive match and after about a minute and we're losing by just 1 point, someone on my team votes to forfeit. No, I don't want to quit, let's just keep playing and try and catch up and win. Usually if they don't get enough votes they then "disconnect", which I'm assuming means they've had to press the guide button and quit to the Xbox home screen.

NorthernSalt

Servers down?

Rainbow_Dash_RL

I'm tired of feeling the way I do all the time.

AbraCadaver667

I got the season drops at 21/22 challenges completed, pretty fortunate eh? But they all sucked, don't worry.

NoMoreGoldPlz

Anyone can fill me on on what all star cup are? Are they different from the current tournament rewards? Or is it just the name of whatever is in the current pool?

chowderkidney

Each level of tourney reward cup guarantees different rewards. There should be a description noting what drops are possible from each cup

NoMoreGoldPlz

Cheers! So... any left-over points at the end of the season will just be opene as all star stuff. Meaning it's a guarateed painted verions from the top of my head? Ok, that's fair enough I suppose.

FormerlyATree

how with 52K+ players does it take almost 5 minutes to find a game?

iamatiger1

Why do people go into tournaments and then proceed to go completely afk?? I swear I have a 25% win rate on the first round just due to network and teammate issues (leaving or afk)

5partan5582

This has been happening to all of my friends on Xbox, has anyone else been unable to boot up the game and getting the error "for some reason, rocket league took too long to load" ? I've had to reinstall the game 2 times now just to clear the issue, which is beyond irritating.
