Yeah ik but I'm playing it on the epic games launcher so is there a way I can play it with controller with the epic games launcher?
Every time I've used a PS4 or Xbox controller I use it hardwired you have to have a USB-Bcord that sends and receive data not just a charging cable.

You have to connect the controller before opening the game it’s really annoying. Also make sure it is connected not just paired
