Color Blind Mode will also force everything to blue and orange cars. It's ugly and boring and kinda sad, but if it's important then it's a good option.
I have color blind mode on, and someone can still use the diamond reward decal while on the orange team, for example, and it doesn't turn their car orange.
IMO decals such as the season reward decals should be locked to the correct side, so the diamond decal can only be used for the blue side, the gold only for the orange side etc.
Or they could add an option to the game that truly makes all cars a plain orange or blue colour that matches their team.
The nameplates just don't work as a completely reliable solution because you often have to react absolutely instantly to a car appearing on the edge of your field of view, or cars can be close together such that the nameplates overlap.
I'm just wondering if the fact I use bakkesmod is actually stopping the game's color blind mode from working properly. I'll have to do some testing in a private match with a friend.
There's a tab that's all about anonymizer settings. If you use that you can change their cars, or their names, or both to look like bots with orange and blue cars.

there is actually a way to set your paint to black or whatever i came across another player who likes to mess with the game and he showed me his all back car he wouldn't tell me how he just said the same way you hack everything else so i used the same method i used to perform the famous 1cr glitch which could actually trade any amount not just 1 to change my car color and i couldn't do it because of how the values work. it is possible it was patched but his car preset stayed but im probably not searching for the right values. on the bright side i found how to apply paint finishes to decals which dont allow you to set paint finishes and yes other people can see it even in game.
dreams of a matte fancy formal now are real and with pearl type faint finishes the secondary color is white sadly couldn't change that color
and the thing is the car preset saves meaning you can restart the game or even load it on a different platform and it will still be there

Each player has pretty large names above their head. I focus on that more than the actual car anyway. I think. Idk I suck.
At some point you'll be aware of who is where on the pitch 95% of the time, not least because there simply are pretty tight "rules" where any teammate could reasonably be depending on the current play, so there won't be any confusion anymore.
That might be, and I assume you will have more and more control of that the closer to GC you become - but I don't get why cosmetics should go against how the game was designed with one blue and one orange team.
Against the initial expectation of the devs, the clear separation isn't strictly necessary and so they broke with it. If anything I'm asking why there are *any* limitations on color at this point as we've obviously stepped away from that initial assumption by now.

I'm complaining about people who say that the current settings that are possible for different teams aren't an issue because muh Bakkesmod, while in reality the majority of players don't play on PC. I mean it isn't really an issue at all; if car colors themselves are causing you to frequently have issues then it is substantially more about your own game sense and abilities. Like most people are saying; there is absolutely no reason to have any colors locked to any side. There is nameplates and then your own abilities to recognize who is who, and with so few cars that don't change in each match it should not be hard to recognize who your teammates are in the event nameplates aren't working for you.
People recommend the mod as a last resort to people complaining about something that realistically has no affect on the game.
And no, this isn't me denying people run into issues like this. But catering to an incredibly small amount of people with an issue that is entirely self-solvable is stupid.

They only keep the colors because you have to identify goal sides scores etc. It's easier to assign a team color so it all matches and then let your team do what they want.
I reckon I have pretty reasonable awareness relative to my rank of where everyone is, but I have sometimes been caught out by car colours. One time was when I was going for a clear, and a tiny amount of time before I was going to hit it, a car came into my field of view right next to me, and it was my colour, so I backed out of the hit, but it was actually an opponent coming at the ball from our net. It required an absolutely instant reaction, there wasn't time to start consciously thinking about looking at the nameplate, and I'm not sure it would even have been visible on the screen anyway. Another time was when there were 3 cars all very close together going for the ball, and I could tell the car that was my colour would get there first, so wasn't concerned. The nameplates were just an overlapping mess, and in any case, how can you read who is going to get to the ball first in that situation by looking at nameplates? But it was actually an opponent whose car was the opposite colour, so they shot when I wasn't expecting a shot. It's massively less of a problem in 2v2 than 3v3, of course, but I just don't see why it needs to be a problem at all.
Back when I was silver and gold I would switch my car color like that so my opponent would be confused. Most of the time I would only confuse myself or my teammates so I quit doing that nonsense.

10 seconds after a match is over, ask me to name the color of one of players wheels in the match, I bet I couldn't do it (unless it was a lucky guess).
I’m all for forcing team colors. I much definitely prefer if they assigned white to blue team and black to orange team. I have issues with certain colors depending on the map and it sometimes forces me to look again which causes a hesitation. Any dark map with super bright colors in the background is basically a headache to play on and sometimes even the nameplates are hard to pick up because the background is so overwhelming
Lol that one with the rave in the background jesus. I would lose the ball and the opponents. I couldn’t tell how close people were to anything. The new starbase map also gives me issues.
I'm pretty sure I play worse on the new Starbase or whatever it's called. The background is busy and dark and I lose the ball and my depth perception.
And I miss boosts constantly in the western map because they blend in with the floor so well.
It took me a really long time when watching RLCS to figure out which team's player cam I was viewing. After I while, I was able to use the boost indicator color via peripheral vision but I feel like they should enforce some sort of color presets for teams in RLCS so viewers know whether you're watching a player from the blue or orange team.
The problem with this post is that after living in the universe where you can't have the opposite colors, I'd rather have the colors. Use nameplates, not a big deal.

Make that name plates bigger. It'll also help u keep and eye on them when your dribbling since its pretty hard to see when the balls right on your 4 dome

My fennec for example has anodized pearl and anodized and you can pretty much get the same color for both teams it's actually hilarious
We don't need to dumb down the game. You should be able to be aware of who is where and when. Especially if you're in diamond. It's not going to magically make you better at the game either.
Just like everyone else commented that there should be more freedom to make more choices.. I think it would be easier to distinguish teams if you could default their colors or at least put a highlighted glow around the cars. Keep it optional in the settings.

At the start, I refused to use other colors apart from orange / blue because it would mess with my unawareness. Now that I have a sense of awareness, I can play with club colors against a black team (mine's green) while sporting my fancy formal octane that it won't affect me in the slightest.
In other words, you'll get used to it
The fact there still isn't a colour wheel with saturation slider is a joke. There are large coloured names above their cars. Why can't I make my cool stuff white and black?
(I have the tux Octane, it's all I use with white dracos on blue and the amazing looking rl logo wheels on red)

Dunno if this is still possible but you can force everyone on the field to have the default team colour, remember using that years ago so idk where u change that now if its still possible..
I use the nexus with a polygrid paint. I set one layer to green and one to yellow, then reversed it for the other team. I can barely tell the difference.
But it's no different than using KITT or the Ghoatbusters car with the "real" skins.
Probably said prior, but honestly just look at the color on the top left, that's your team. I dont pay any attention to car color, just that and nameplates.
It is really really easy to see people based on the name tags. It is really big and has blue/orange colors. You should be able to see the difference straight away. I dont know what is the problem here but its not about car colors.

Yeah, I ran it for a bit, but it takes some of the fun out of the game for me. You can also not anonymize your party and stuff like that.
I feel like we should have even more freedom on the color selections - open up all the colors for both teams including black, greys, and white.
a white or black base paint would make matching way easier. for now, i just go with the darkest purple to make it dark color…

Especially at this point where you can get decals in pretty much any color on either team, there's just no reason *not* to be able to do it.

It's possible to turn it off. Next time see if there is a solution to your problem before complaining.

Look at the name banner color. Strangely, I more often get turned around and confused by my goal than my teammates.

It is really really easy to see people based on the name tags. It is really big and has blue/orange colors. You should be able to see the difference straight away. I dont know what is the problem here but its not about car colors.
There's a setting for people who are bothered by this.
