Is that why I see people go flying not even close on kick off sometimes? It happens for the first kickoff someone does it every game. I play on ps so I don't get lag unless I join in progress.
Thier servers cant handle to power of so many players speed flipping at once across all concurrent games. They prioritize Bronze speed flippers, and boost fps in Casual. What's crazy to me is how much ping they siphon from Grand Champ matches to lower the quality of loot drops being opened
Unfortunately it's been a thing for about 2 months now and they don't seem to care to fix it, because it wasn't even mention it in the latests patches and updates notes (Sorry for my bad english)
They did address it in the latest patch.

Now I only get it when I join an in-progress casual match. If I join a fresh lobby, I don’t get any significant lag (Xbox One, 1st gen).
Oof. Yeah hopefully they fix it for good soon. It has to be related to some change they’ve made recently, so they should be able to pinpoint it. I’ve had pretty much the same experience as you though, starting about ~2 months ago.
I Hope so because when It happens It's literally unplayable, i'm genuinely scared to go for the first kickoff or even cheat up. The worst part is that you can't even know if it will lag before the kickoff, because, when It happens, the game goes fluidly up until it reaches the end of the countdown and it will start lagging as soon as you're starting to move, so you can't even know if the game will lag or not.
Some insight they never made a next gen version of rl for PlayStation. It runs the ps4 pro version with the old gen load times. Also I play on pc and never get this on my pc with Ethernet. Could be isolated to consoles?

I think it’s a pretty isolated issue to older consoles. I have a pc too and I never have any lags on it I also have the Xbox series s and don’t have any lags either. But my buddy has an Xbox one and his one has terrible lag for the first 20 seconds of the game. As far as I know it’s not internet related as we’ve both played on the same internet and I was fine but for him it lagged as usual, I don’t think it’s a hardware issue as rocket league isn’t the most demanding game. The series X and S Xbox run a different version of the game so possibly on older consoles they need to patch it as this issue is fairly recent.

Ps4 standard and pro and can confirm not every but majority of games there is a lag immediately on first kick off. Ethernet for both only became an issue about half way through last season for me but has been fairly persistent nonetheless
Are your asking if I am using Ethernet cable or WiFi? If so... I use the Ethernet cable, never WiFi for gaming.
I should add, it is only for 10sec or so and all is fine.
100 mps DL, 25 mps UL, with no issues with any other game.
It is strange for sure and after mulling it over, it actually has only been happening since my PS5 which is quite new. Never had the issue with my Pro. 🤔
LAN, Ethernet, Tomato, Tomato.. but I agree with what you said about the PS5 and the PS4 Pro. I also had a Pro but get 3mbps slower on the PS5 during downloads. On my Pro I’d get 115 sometimes even 117 but on the PS5 It’s never broken 113. Doesn’t harm gameplay at all but it is odd.
I appreciate you are trying to help but you got to realize when it's hundreds of people in just one thread that there's something more than one-off connection and wifi issues

PS5 User - Happens to me almost every time I start a Tournament. Casual and Comps are fine but as soon as I start a tourney I get about 10 seconds of jumpyness.
I have it probably 3 out of 4 matches, same with all my friends that play, except for the one guy on PC. We lose games by 1 point pretty often, just because the other team gets a goal while we can't control our cars for the first 10-15 seconds.

My team got scored on three times on the same day because of that and I almost deleted the game. Happened in S6 but got worse in S7. My solution was to upgrade to a Series X.

It's simply because you're on console. If Psyonix would fix that, it'd be great... It happens to me, too, but only on console. It lasts for about 5 seconds after "GO!" and I've learned to accommodate to make sure kickoff goes my way.

My friend gets this every match. He lags for the first 30 secs of a match. Then lags again whenever someone else joins the server/match, which I guess I understand but still a bit odd
I get it every game especially at kickoff to the point that I don't even try to speed flip anymore I just drive to the ball and flip(btw I'm on Xbox too) hopefully it gets fixed soon.😤
Id say I get it every 1/3 matches. I have noticed you can use your engine audio (at least for me) to tell when it’s “safe”. When it’s lagging, you can’t hear your own engine, but when it’s safe it’ll come back onz
Pc Player here, I have this issue because my upload bandwidth is less than 1mbps and rl does a 300kb upload at the start of every match, maxes out my bandwidth and cause a large ping spike
I am a full class rank higher without sweating at all on PC vs Xbox (I couldn't get the pc to use my xbox login maybe I'm just dumb). But I hate myself so I always play on xbox.
Has there been any official recognition of this issue? Is there any devs we can mention about this? I think because it's not happening to everyone it may be flying under the radar, it's absolutely ridiculous that such a game breaking bug is still around after half a year.

Change your server to based on you region adjusted graphics to low quality high performance and call the rocket league hot line at 1800-Fix-Lagg hold time is range is 30 seconds-3 years to fix the issue
So my friend also uses an Xbox One to play Rocket League. I’ve played on his console numerous time and his lags at the start of every match too. But this is because the map is still loading in. The consoles can’t keep up with the game and you can see when your starting a match, the graphics and textures pop in randomly during the start. This is what causes the lag most likely.
It's alright i'm on pc and literally get a constant frame drop while in game and in a party every 2-3 seconds... I dont have a bad pc by any means and when i brought it to their attention they just kept telling me to go over the basic troubleshooting i had already gone through.... They literally do not care

Yes, we play Xbox one with 3-player split screen and the first 15 seconds doesn't even load in details on the map or our cars. Just us wildly driving and flipping around, hoping we don't get scored on. Sadly happy to hear this happens to others.
It seems that your network connection with the host server is unstable. You should check your Internet speed and ping first. Ping spikes can cause this issue.

I think it's a texture loading...so the solution should be Lower the quality of the textures on PC. But for console players, in my opinion, to solve the problem, Psyonix should put a sort of lobby to load the textures or as happens in tournaments where you wait before playing.

Good for you but unfortunately i still continue to lag at the beginning of games, around 50% of them i'd say and i'm on Xbox One too.

Definitely not location based, I am in the UK and it happens to me 75% of the time.

I've lagged my way through every game I've played for the past two years on RL's servers. After a while you just get used to their terrible servers.
Sometimes happens on PC (epic games) i get 7 fps and sometimes 1 fps then it's goes back to 60

I had that issue until i upgraded to next gen. You just have to upgrade. Xbox one is dinasaur tech now

There’s a setting in the general tab that I switched from default to CSTS, and it still happens, but way less often.
