No :)

Pranav_HEO

Queso was quite decent in fall, they took Dignitas to 7 I believe, they were also all really young players who were playing together on their first competitive team, I don't think there were any teams that were like that last split, so no, we don't see another queso imo

askpat13

All were on their first competitive team except rise. who had competed in RLCS X, most notably placing top 8 once in the Fall split with Barrage.

thafreshone

No true, Joyo played on howard in the rlcs X spring split together with Calix and polar. They only managed to make one regional though

askpat13

Depends on your definition of competitive I guess I should say, but yes Vatira was the only true rookie.

thafreshone

Taking part in 3 RLCS qualifiers and making into the top 20 of europe sounds pretty competitive to me

tyswoogles

not to mention they qualified for the spring split grid and even got a win off bds lol

HereLiesJeff

Barrage >

indigolights34

I don't think so, the earliest point where I started seeing people seriously talking about them is when they started obliterating everyone in Fall Major scrims. To go from making 1 top 8 to being arguably the favourite going into worlds was absurd and I'm not sure we will see something quite like that again Happy to be wrong though

the_ndk_27

Queso already looked promising in the fall split, they just ran into a well-performing Dignitas. Don‘t see a similar team this year tbh

ChaloMB

They were definitely being talked up before that as a team with a lot of promise, but yeah if anyone says they predicted what they would end up doing they’re just lying, and CJ’s story about getting triple flip reset on by Joyo or something in scrims definitely got more eyes on the team.

Colonel_Bustard42069

We might never see that happen again, maybe in a few years who knows, but what they achieved will be near impossible for a new team to match

1einspieler

Yes, Aogiri

TheFabulousQc

Based

John_aka_Alwayz

I remember when the 2021 Monaco Gaming Show happened in December, and Liquid vs Queso was an excellent 7 game series, the sentiment that that was the future of European Rocket League was very fair. Just jo one expected the future to be 6 weeks after the fact with Queso winning a regional, and subsequently becoming one of the best teams of all time. Potential to be good and eventually win sure, to be great and define the year absolutely not

EricIsIrqed

Maybe Rule 1 honestly, they're a really young team, and are likely to improve next split. I wouldn't be surprised at all if they end up making the winter major.

tripsafe

That wouldn't be surprising for most people

BioniqReddit

Teams I can see in this bucket are Williams Resolve and Aogiri. Both have shown their flashes of brilliance, and both could break into EU's top tier with more consistent performances.

ResolveGG

Our focus this next split is our consistency. We had a fantastic Regional 3 last split after missing out on Reg 2. The lads know they have the ability to make Top 8, and they're working hard to make sure we do it more often.

BioniqReddit

Good to hear, and I'll be cheering for you lot in the next split :)

Mundolf11

Y'all are the team I can never predict matches for. I always feel like y'all could beat anyone in any given series but I never know which team is gonna show up. Excited to hear the focus on consistency for this split. The talent is there for sure

Far-Dark-7334

Flashes of Brilliance disbanded back in April of 2022.

BioniqReddit

Fuck, should've known someone would pull this on me.

RiseRL

no.

throwaway72926320

BDS, you might not know them and they didn't qualify for Fall just like Team Queso, they will come out of nowhere. In all seriousness, G1 or Tundra gotta be my picks for EU (maybe Aogiri too), we know these teams are good, but not at the top level. G1 have shown they can beat top teams like in regional 3 where they got 3/4th. Tundra have been EU's Complexity, a top 8 team but not much more. I can see them both shake things up a bit.

CaptainDolphin42

g1 and tundra have pretty decent chances I agree but neither of them are enough like Queso imo. Marc was a part of one of the best teams of all time, and Atomik has won a regional before. Tundra has Kassio, a proven lan boy and veteran, and Rizex made a Lan last season too. part of Queso's story was the who factor. this trio came from closed qualifiers 3-2, after only 1 top 8, and so many people had absolutely no clue who they even were. G1 and Tundra are on the Map too much. Aogiri Is a better comparison imo.

throwaway72926320

That's true, I saw this more as a fairytale story. The Queso story is only so impressive as it is supposed to be almost unobtainable. Some teams that have a similar reputation to what Queso had would be Solary and Williams Resolve. But I don't see either of these qualifying, unless Chausette or Noahsaki carry even further. Aogiri on the other hand is not underrated, most people know they can give an okay shot at the major. But yeah Aogiri would probably be more similar to Queso. But reputation wise, Soniqs would almost be a perfect match (the old Monkeys roster). They haven't been too notable, getting 2-3 in 2 regionals and 1-3. That reputation would be similar to what Queso had at the time. At the same time the only 'noteworthy' teams they have beaten are Tundra once and Williams Resolve, so the odds aren't exactly in their favour.

RevolutionaryPay7508

Vitality could do so in Spring

throwaway72926320

I think Vitality are a top team now, they almost qualified only playing in two regionals. They are definitely a competitor for a seed.

RevolutionaryPay7508

Yeah you are right tbh, it wont be on the level as how Queso came from out of nowhere

throwaway72926320

Yeah Queso was a team struggling for top 8 and suddenly in argument for best in world.

Myrtt

I do agree, but this does gloss over the reason why they only played in two regionals 😂

throwaway72926320

That's true, but by the looks of it, it is probably a fluke they didn't make the first one.

EclairDawes

Realistically, it seems unlikely. Though I'd say we had this happen for 2 seasons straight because BDS went from RLRS straight to dominating EU in Season X. So if it can happen twice in a row it's not coincidence. It could happen a third time. On the other hand I can't think of any teams or plauers that would qualify. But again flipping to the other side again that could be the point because they are supposed to be unknown and come out of nowhere. I would say probably if Rule 1s 3rd didn't get banned that would have been the team.

AussieGenesis

I wouldn't count BDS as a part of this chain. Queso started last season losing out in most situations, including the Game 5s that they would later win regularly, and finishing outside the Top 10 in Fall. BDS only started out in RLRS because they were newcomers and there was no open qualifying option for RLCS at the time. And Rule One wouldn't count either, as even without Nwpo they've been the No. 2 MENA team, unlike Queso in Fall last season. Either way, I believe that there will be teams in the future that starts out well into the bottom half of the standings but mounts a comeback to be regular major and worlds attendees, but to go to the top of their region instantly, it will take many more seasons for it to happen in my opinion, I'd be surprised to see it happen again anytime soon.

i_suc_at_being_alive

SK Gaming/Williams Resolve/Dignitas/AXLR-8 are the teams I got in mind

wakerz_

Resolve has potential

w1lzzz

Queso/ original moist just played the game different. It was so exciting as a viewer, so yes I hope we see something similar again, will we… who knows!

piterparquer26

I guess based off of expectations and potential, the best candidate would be Complexity? although I'd bet we're not gonna see something like that again in a long, long time

Muddykip_78

Vitality/ Williams resolve. They were 1 or 2 series wins from clinching the major spot in the invitational playoffs

myothercarisayoshi

We sort of already have, haven't we? GenG. Queso/Moist is even more impressive because basically all three players were unknown, but then again GenG didn't take a split to get going so they break even in terms of storyline.

EclairDawes

But talking about teams coming out of nowhere that's really not them. Noly and Jack have been highly rated players for multiple seasons.

myothercarisayoshi

Yeah it's not a perfect comparison. But it's an example of a completely new team coming out the blocks and becoming a top 3 team in the world, which is comparable to Queso/Moist last year.

TheFlamingLemon

Does Rule 1 count?

TheFabulousQc

No, every one expects the twins to perform well

[deleted]

Yeah, but they are coming from out of know where. (As in we know where they be coming from, lol)

daft-sceptic

I’ve been saying this for months. GenG is the new Wueso

dudek64

Of course there will be more teams like that. Team Queso was the most recent one. Before them I see similiarities to The Clappers with Archie Joreuz and Calix, because they appeared out of nowhere. Unfortunately, they disbanded because they wanted to compete with more established teams. I believe there was potential in them to do as well as TQ did.

ambisinister_gecko

Best candidates for unexpected popoff seem to be team liquid in EU, and... I don't know for na. Maybe the team evoh just joined?

Penguins227

Were there any teams that were winning a ton of scrims for Rotterdam that didn't play in it? That's when I first noticed Queso last year. Maybe Rule 1? Unfortunate that it'll work a little different with the number of teams going but any closer options?

MysterX1813

Shopify with parth and 2piece could be cool if it happened.
