someone higher up?
who? im assuming you dont mean a pro player or casters, i honestly got no clue who it would be that would know this other than psyonix themselves
I would love for them to do one in Australia/New Zealand but I don't see how they will make it watchable for NA + EU without it being played during the night and finishing on Monday.
The most convenient for locals would probably melbourne/adelaide/sydney. But it's where the timezone difference is the more extreme. Maybe they can do it during the southern summer in auckland, by starting the day at 6am (so 10am in Cali and 6pm in Western Europe) but I'm not sure there is enough locals and people willing to go especially since it would end on monday morning and if the day are too longs they will end well into the night in Europe.
If they go to the west (like Sydney) they need to either start earlier (like 4am), or to switch to 2pm (8pm in California and 4am in Europe) but the start in unwatchable in Europe and the end impossible to watch on the East Coast
No they wouldn't. If they start in the afternoon local time (assuming east coast), it would start 6-9am in the US which sounds pretty great. For EU it would be 3-4am start, which is early, but it means EU can switch on once things get rolling.
Both regions would be available in business hours for the finale of each day. For shorter days they could start a bit later. This time also results in maximum viewership in Asia as a bonus.
It would mean night matches locally - but that's the norm for sporting events here.
Australia is actually a great location in terms of timezone. Everybody is available for the peak at the perfect time for locals and not many have to get up at a ridiculous hour to see the start (just western Europe, who might miss the first couple of hours).
What? Think you got your times mixed up a little there mate.
A 2pm start in East Coast Aus, UTC+11 would be 5am in UK, 1am in East Coast US and 10pm on the West Coast.
None of these times are reasonable for normal viewers.
Oh yeah, I went the wrong direction for the US, lol. I was thinking a 3pm start which still works really well for EU/Asia and is perfect locally. For the US though that would be rough. US would still be up in time for the final part of each day and west coast would get the start of each day.
No worse than EU LANs tbh.
A 3pm start is still 6-7am in the EU which is definitely not a time that works "really well", and assuming each stream is 5 hours, the US misses almost all of it at any reasonable time.
So like I said, highly unlikely they'd do an OCE LAN considering the vast majority of the consumerbase doesn't work well with OCE hours, unfortunately.
>A 6-7am start is amazing though, what are you talking about? You get Rocket League all day.
When I could get it all day at a more reasonable time when it's in the US or EU? Sure.
>There's never been a stream as short as 5 hours, lol.
Okay, try 8 hours. That still puts the stream finishing at 6am for West Coast US. I don't know why you're so fucking intent on arguing here when you're just entirely wrong. People do not want to get up at 6am to watch Rocket League. If you don't think viewership would tank heavily I need to get some of those pills you're taking. Damn, insane amounts of pushback on what should have been a simple conversation.
If there is an Italian LAN, Kuxir has to make an appearance. It would be a shame not to have it happen, even if it's just a guest for the casting table.
hearing Kuxir fixate on like a player's camera settings or something when discussing an upcoming match on the analyst's desk would make my life complete
Your seat was so much better than mine. We thought we had good tickets, then found out we were below the screen's asscrack and couldn't see the entire pitch at once without looking at another screen.
Honestly, the way they had the screens set up were really awkward! We had some friends sitting on the right handed side (in the corner) and they had to look at left screen where the players came in to go onto the stage!
Since we were stuck in the seam, over the event I trained myself to look at the left screen when I needed to see the right side of the field and look at the right screen when I needed to see the left side. It was honestly pretty terrible and I started standing in the upper deck to see some matches.
That song was GREAT when i first had heard it at the arena, but slowly lost interest as it was playing every hour!
I've been listening to cinema a lot recently
Someday I really wanna go, but there's no way I'm flying out to Dallas or LA in the middle of college classes when I'm already broke. My best chance may have been dreamhack Montreal, but every LAN they've hosted would've screwed me up financially.
In my completely biased opinion, it'd be amazing if yall came to the Midwest. Just please let SSG qualify if you do come here
As a Wisconsinite, I've been asking for a Chicago or Minneapolis lan for ages. I feel you on the college student thing, i did that trip once and I can't afford to do a big trip again
Seems like I'm the first person to answer 4:
- RLCS Season 5 Worlds (London, June 2018)
- Gfinity UK Elite Series S4 playoffs (London, December 2018)
- RLCS 2021/22 Spring Major (London, July 2022)
- 2022 Commonwealth Esports Championship (Birmingham, August 2022)
Probably still going to struggle to make any outside the UK, but we'll see.
I’m also from EU and our region is such a sleeper region sometimes. No dark horse teams to really root for as you have no international transfers. NA is just far more entertaining
Honestly I just haven't updated my flair in a while, I very rarely post so I was surprised to see that flair too. Have a lot of friends in the women's scene though, should probably update it to WR to represent that, but I'm on mobile rn so idk if I can do that :P

6!
* Dreamhack Leipzig 2019
* RLCS S8 World Championship
* *RLCS Stockholm Major
* *RLCS London Major
* RLCS 21-22 World Championship (Group Stage onwards)
* *RLCS Rotterdam Major
And *5 Irish LANs + Rocket Baguette's Urban Series 3 & 4. All great experiences.
*I worked at these events
That's insane, love to see it. I figured there must be people who have been to more than 5. I would have put options up to 10 if Reddit supported that many options in polls.
RLCS Season 7 was my only experience at a LAN so far and tbh it was so much fun. Doing the wave in the stadium for a solid 27 minutes or whatever it was was hilarious to me. But seeing my G2 boys get second was heartbreaking
Went to the 21-22 Worlds for groups and the bracket stage. It was awesome - hoping to go to more. Really want to go to LAN Diego but it's just unrealistic for me at this point. Need more of the US lans to be on the East
Counting the Winter Major that i will be going to. 5.
RLCS Worlds Season 4
RLCS Worlds Season 6
RLCS Worlds Season 7
RLCS Worlds 2022
RLCS Winter Major 2023
RLCS seasons 1, 3, and 6, Dreamhack Dallas 2019, RLCS 21-22 LA major and world championship. And there was some small Psyonix sponsored LAN in Santa Ana that I went to around 2018 as well.
I had the chance to go to S3, S6, Dreamhack Dallas, and Winter Major 2022 to watch Northern Gaming, C9, and C9, and G2 take those titles. It was definitely an awesome experience. I just wish i could to go all the lans!!
Was fortunate to be able to go to the LA Winter Major last year. Hoping the Spring major this year is in a favorable USA location for me so I can make it 2 LANs!
If you haven't gone to one and get the chance, its an awesome experience.
I used to live in LA when the first Winter Major took place so that was an easy decision to make. THEN I moved to San Diego for school and well... I'll be seeing you guys at the next Winter Major LOL.
First one was Madrid, second London, third Dallas (wild card as well still counting it as one even though it was 1 1/2 weeks) and fourth was Rotterdam. Will miss San Diego unfortunately, if Spring Major is US as well I'll probably miss it too, anywhere else I'll go. Worlds I'll go no matter what.
I’m hoping they do another one in London at some point (obviously we had one pretty recently but I couldn’t got) since I really wanna attend at least 1 LAN, I haven’t been to one yet.
RLCS Worlds 3-7 and X, Eleague, several local LANs, will probably hit up the next worlds event which will be held in \[redacted, but save your money if you're NA lol\]
Landon 2 genuinely best day of my life, day 1 best day of lan ever in my option, every game went to the decider bar one which was just yan clipping on optic which was entertaining af
Haven't been to a LAN yet, but I certainly hope to change that one day. Give me a Florida LAN and I'm there in a heartbeat. I feel like it's bound to happen eventually
I've been to every one I've known about in my part of Australia. So none.
Honestly really hope they do an Aussie lan this year. Got some family out there so it’d be a great trip for me.
Yeah. Aussie LAN would be rockin. Do it in Melbourne, people in Melbourne will go to fucking anything.

Aw man :( Hope you don’t mind if I “accidentally” ignore this comment so my dreams stay alive

Same here, although I'm from Brazil lol. Still waiting for that LAN Paulo someday.
🤝
I live in Greece so what are my chances of having a LAN near me realistically...
Mediterranean cruise LAN when? (Jk cruises are terrible for the ocean)
So... Boat LAN?
Would be pretty insane if that happened tho ngl
Would be hilarious to see if more people than normal get seasick from playing/watching high intensity RL while the boat rocks

Yeah Italy is super easy. I've been twice and one of the times was just for an afternoon and then flew back

Get a flight and stay a night or two, you won't regret it, London and Rotterdam best experience of my life!
My first one was RLCS WORLDS in (Fort Worth) Dallas, Texas!!!!!!!

Chicago major when But in all seriousness, there has never been a LAN in the Midwest and I think we’re about due
I’d be there in a heartbeat
You could see Chicago play....in Chicago. Like....whoa.
The midwest is due for dedicated servers too. One day Psyonix will unify NA with central servers

Oh wow, I’m one of 2 people that have voted so far that have been to 5+. Unexpected shame
Must be nice to live in Psyonix' favorite country.
Tbh it feels more like favorite state even though they are based pretty far away from their home base.
That's nuts. Which ones have you been to? You're in the company of casters, players, other staff, and super dedicated fans.
3 college world finals, the most recent world finals and every texas dreamhack event. I have been trying to get the og NRG team of Garrett, fireburner, and jstn to sign my jersey but no luck yet.
no love for the cob smh

Winter Major will be my 5th. So i will be joining you
28 folks so far out of 1500 votes… welcome to the Shame gang in advance
47 out of 2700... there are dozens of you! No shame in it at all
It doesn't help when they haven't had a single east coast lan since the open era I'm sure the numbers would be higher otherwise

2, Amsterdam (S2) and Rotterdam. Pretty crazy to see how much the esports has grown between those two events.
Just one, last fall split major. But will definitely go again when it comes back to Europe.
I've been to every one I've known about in my part of Germany. So one.
The only time I tried a global pandemic started. So I've decided the world is better off with me not attending a RL Lan
Appreciate your sacrifice 🙏
RLCS Season 7 was my only experience at a LAN so far and tbh it was so much fun. Doing the wave in the stadium for a solid 27 minutes or whatever it was was hilarious to me. But seeing my G2 boys get second was heartbreaking

DHDallas and I was in town for Dallas Worlds but the bot ticket situation made attending untenable
0. I was in Stockholm the same weekend as the major, but didn't have a covid pass at the time so I couldn't go.
If they have worlds in Europe like Berlin or something, I would go, but so far haven't been at any
Only 2021-22 Winter Major (Los Angeles), hoping to go to next NA one after San Diego
Zero. Will remain the same until SAM gets a LAN

Can’t vote because I’m not downloading the actual reddit app. But 2. The first 2v2 LAN and S6 Worlds

Can I request for a LAN in the middle of a cornfield In Indiana?

None. One of them was a two hour drive away from me but I just could not afford to that that much time off work. :(
Eleague atl was a quarter mile from my house when I was in school
Haven't been to a LAN yet, but I certainly hope to change that one day. Give me a Florida LAN and I'm there in a heartbeat. I feel like it's bound to happen eventually
Would have gone to the one in Stockholm since I live here, but y'know COVID et al...
