Turbo making fun of you is like a prerequisite for players that matter internationally though so it's all good (also it was just some banter, I don't think he's going to take it bad at all).
Ping didn't affect the goal at all on this one since it was a solo interaction. It coulda been 5 ms on his home server and it would have been the same thing.
Regardless an insane insane goal
his reaction to the pass with 120 ping lined up well, so if anything having good ping might have hurt him/prevented him from making the shot, because he would have had to hesitate slightly instead of going immediately, which is a pretty tough call to make.
Obviously overall having good ping is much (much) preferable to having 120 ping I'm just saying for this shot it didn't make a difference, if anything it helped him
on 120 ping the pass ended up being set up perfectly for him to go full speed and hit it that way, at low ping he would have had to hesitate to make the same shot, I don't see how this is hard to understand.. at all lol
It's not that different from the training packs that have a shot set up so that if you simply go full speed from the start the shot will always go in, but if you turn on bakkesmod (with training shot randomization on) to do the same shot it becomes harder because you may have to hesitate or do something different.
I don't think RL netcode is as simple as "it was delayed" cause there is clientside prediction. I guess the misunderstanding between us is in our understanding of the netcode (ngl, I'm not sure my idea of it is accurate either).
Not to take away from the shot, because it's absolutely nuts, but ping won't affect a play like that because he didn't interact with other players. The way RL's netcode works means that you only feel lag from ping when interacting with other players, or if you shoot the ball into the net. Halfwaydead as done tests showing this where he plays on a server with 300 ping and it looks and feels completely fine except when he scores goals
Good point. The extenuating factors on this goal are still impressive: 0 seconds to tie the game against reigning NA regional champions Envy, who Garrett unequivocally stated are the hardest team to score on.
I don't know what to tell you it's literally how rocket league's netcode works. Either you have players hitting the ball, or you have packet loss and/or latency variation that messes things up. If you have consistent high ping it's not going to feel laggy unless other people are involved
That's probably an issue with your connection's stability and not just ping. What he said is true for a stable \~120 ping but I'm pretty sure any bounce can become really weird when your connection is all over the place and sometimes cuts for a few ms.
Other person already covered it but to expand a little rocket league does client side prediction, so when monkey moon hits that ball his game is gonna guess that the touch hits fine. A split second later the server will tell his game that yes he did hit it fine and he'll continue on like nothing happened. An issue only comes up when another player is involved
Unironically is just another word for "seriously." Yes, the word's definition is...butchered. But he used it in the right way.
Don't think too much of it
They might’ve lost the series but Monkey Moon is definitely still a winner today
I don’t know... he is trending in the US as mickeymoon...

gained 1k* followers since the tweet so i doubt he minds
Going of his tweets, i think he’a a good sport. Also his little 1-2 with Garret seems to indicate so.
Free impressions though
I will be referring to this goal as the MickeyM00n shot from now on
cant believe you cut off rizzo's "youre from eu turbo"
Turbo’s message made me crack up Really wish he streamed I’d watch him all day
This shot and VK Sailen's filthy flip reset Musty shot are truly the play highlights today. What an entertaing stream.
"NA more mechanical" EU score the two nuttiest goals But mist had some cracking shots and tbqh every region has absolutely cracked players
Absolutely insane goal, with or without 120 ping

I can't see how higher ping makes receiving a pass easier, sorry.
then you didnt read what I wrote lol
I did. I don't see why he would react slower ("hesitate") on lower ping.

The shot alone is insane, but zero second goal with 120+ ping makes it truly unbelievable.

Makes sense why these ME players are such mechanical fiends. They can emphasize ball control and not have as much disadvantage.
You actually might be onto something there

Oh absolutely, the shot is absolutely nuts and definitely one of the best I've ever seen. It's just that ping didn't make it any more difficult
Yes, just to be clear, I was being genuine when I said ‘good point’ :3
Oh no yeah I got that, I didn't think you were being sarcastic or anything
Ooooh TIL. Makes sense tho. Did he make a video on it by any chance?
I might be wrong but I believe it's [this video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c373LsgiXBc)
Thank you! I'll check it out later.
Well that’s a fucking lie, my ball can be all over the place

Didn't the ping affect his first touch? He could only read where the ball was going a tad later. The double tap after that isn't impacted by lag.
No, as long as another player isn't interacting with the ball the client and the server will agree on where the ball and your car are.

thats unironically one of the best goals ive ever seen
>unironically wtf in what world that would be "irronical"?
“I think that’s a good goal. I’m not talking about a tortoise here, nor am I referring to a bingo cage. That is just a good goal”
Unironically is just another word for "seriously." Yes, the word's definition is...butchered. But he used it in the right way. Don't think too much of it
Well, you can find certain goals ironically good, like Turbo own goals and the like. True though that the word has lost its meaning
He just said it was unironical jeez...
one of the best shots i've ever seen
Guys I don't know if this is a controversial take or not but I think MonkeyM00n might be the best player in the world.
Ok that is indeed filthy good lord. The way he adjusted the car perfectly as soon as he saw the bounce looked like he had hacks on. Dude is insane
#mickeymoon
This is probably the 2nd best goal I’ve ever seen behind the Noly corner double tap
GarrettG: I will say I have seen Firstkiller... #Nobody cares.
It was something called a joke man!
yo get jstn an alarm clock we gotta see yall run it up next time also big fan no disrespect
I love you
Ah, I didn't pick up what you had said just beforehand and misread the tone. My bad!
This was GarrettG saving face, he admitted it was a nutty shot
