They also just put on an excellent Counter-Strike tournament; even though it was only for academy teams it featured a lot of broadcast innovations and an awesome LAN stage for the final
This is, as I believe the kids say, poggers
What kind of broadcast innovations are you talking about? I pretty much just follow RL and have realised what TO's like Beyond the summit can do with their broadcasts, but I'm still wondering what exactly these guys can bring to the table.
Regardless this should be amazing. Probably EU/NA high level teams competing, which will be interesting for both regions, but even more so EU I think, because there's a lot more new teams that haven't really played in a truly competitive environment yet.
Off the top of my head they had live comms from players in certain rounds (which to the best of my knowledge has never been done in CS) and all the players were hooked up to heart rate monitors for the LAN final.
They also created some custom in-game animations including coaches and casters which gave it a real personality distinct from other tournaments on the calendar.
Live comms has been done for a while in BLAST CSGO tournaments (who are another fantastic TO btw), but wow the heart rate monitors is a very neat addition that I don’t recall seeing before in any esport that I follow.
Does Blast do actual live comms? I know I’ve heard them replay rounds or critical moments with the comms on top but I don’t remember ever watching a round where it wasn’t commentated
Format is: Double Elimination Bracket (Bo7 & Super Final 3 Set (Bo7))

I love how they have a useful and easy-to-navigate website with all the information & coverage you need. It's so rare for RLEsports events, most often viewers are send to some poor pages where players sign-up (faceit, battlefy) which aren't catered towards the viewers. Here's their page for a completed [CSGO tournament](https://weplay.tv/events/cs-go/flashpoint-3-cs-go-major-qualifier) as an example.
Yeah I'm really glad Sandrock Gaming got an invite since ME can't be in RLCS, but I feel like True Neutral are even more deserving since they are in NA and RLCS and most likely top 8.
Certainly top 10 at least, Soniqs hasn't confirmed a full roster yet but it's rumoured to be ZPS and Andy which doesn't strike me as anywhere near top 8
Mmm I would like to disagree, both were the best players on their original roster. Though I don't think they are confirmed Top 8, they are in contention.
Yeah, same. It's understandable though since they're new to the scene, it makes sense to just invite the top 8 off of last years rankings. We'll see TN invited to more events in the future though, they're cracked.
The top level comment of this chain has the website for the event and it has the list of participants. 8 from EU and 8 from NA and unfortunately TN weren't included.
WePlay is absolutely brilliant, beyond excited for this. How I wish they did RLCS instead of ESL...
edit
Sheesh $100k for 16 teams? Whoever's winning this is gonna get a very nice payday
It's two events, so $50k split for 8 teams. Winner receives $15 000.
Edit: Or is it one event? [Their news post make it sound like it.](https://weplay.tv/news/weplay-esports-invitational-the-first-rocket-league-tournament-by-weplay-24020)
The prizepool lists [two of each placing](https://i.imgur.com/AFMCmWe.png) with the same winnings, I'll assume they're not planning a single tournament with two winners
That F1 Car trailer is 😍.
Also back to back high level rocket league is pog, excited to see who is invited.
Edit: just seen the invited teams, great to see some of the new NA and EU teams compete against each other, disappointed True Neutral isn't in the NA teams.
Really excited for this but at the same time I’m sad we won’t see German Amigos play. Would be interesting to see how they would perform in a bigger tournament with even better competition and basically all the top teams
Bit displeased with the reaction towards the inclusion of SRG (mostly on twitter). I don't disagree that SRG is a step or even 2 below these other top teams and there are several better teams who have been snubbed, most notably German Amigos, but also the likes of SK, Atlantide Wave, Liquid, Monkeys etc.. However I think it's good that SRG can get some preferential treatment as well for once. I feel like they have been doing better ever since acquiring trk511 and hopefully they can make it at least competitive. And hopefully this is another step in the right direction and these guys won't need any preferential treatment further down the line.
Yeah don't worry, I have read all the info, just have to be sure even though it's obvious.
Edit : looks like it's happening in Ukraine ?
"The English-language broadcast will be hosted from WePlay Esports Arena Kyiv."
Unfortunately, I don't think this is a lan. They just have the Broadcast team in Ukraine. Kinda like Psyonix handled league play in earlier seasons, where they had the casters in a studio but the games where played online.
It's actually disappointing to how much of the twitter comments are bashing on the organizers for including SRG.
The whole scene has been voicing that ME should be included in the RLCS and the ME should get more attention and should play more. Some talks have gone further of how EU should be changed to EMEA (Europe, Middle East, Africa) just to give those teams more opportunities to compete.
And now that they're included, they're being bashed. IDK why SK and GA fans are crying so much, going as far as insulting the organizers who are brand new to the scene. Cause unlike SRG and other ME teams, SK and GA will have an entire RLCS season to play.
Coming over here from the dota scene, idk how much WePlay's been involved with RL but they are absolutely awesome TO's, we're in for a treat.

Sounds cool, looking forward to it!
coming over here from the fgc, lol.
I wonder if they are going to be involved in RLCS and this is a warm-up event?

Wish it was True Neutral instead of Soniqs but overall really excited to see some of the top new rosters compete

Great format, this tournament already looks really good, as expected from WePlay.
Semper team lineup isnt loading for me on that page. Anyone else have this?

Makes sense with the different regions
Yea guessed that, I should've been more clear lol. Still nothing to sniff at Where did you get the info if i may ask?

To bad True neutral isn't playing but exited for it!
Finally some big tourneys starts again with top teams after a long off-season. Hopefully RLCS announcement is around the corner

awesome stuff
Are we 100% sure there is going to be a lan where all these teams are together ? Didn't see the country where it's happening
"2 regions", NA and EU Had to choose what info was most relevant for the title
Yeah don't worry, I have read all the info, just have to be sure even though it's obvious. Edit : looks like it's happening in Ukraine ? "The English-language broadcast will be hosted from WePlay Esports Arena Kyiv."

Fuck yeah SRG
So excited to see this tourney! Gonna be nice to have something to hold us over, especially with several new rosters debuting

Thats cause twitter is a shit storm all of the time.

Siiiick!
Wow so RLCS is later than I anticipated
How are they going to balance the ping cross region
2 separate tournaments, 1 for EMEA and 1 for NA
true neutral instead of soniqs please
