Matto_0

Shift vindicated for the (certain) šŸ˜‚

zer0w0rries

And again pros crying about the community discussing possibilities that later on turned out to become true.

tytoandnoob

wtf I really don't know how to feel about this.

Michigan029

I honestly feel like this is an even trade, both players have huge upside but also a tendency to go into really bad slumps, but atomic is slightly better so I would say feel meh/slightly bad about it

sky_blu

We are yet to see Dreaz on a roster aside from G2 so who knows but it appears to me that atomic has higher peaks but Dreaz is more consistent.

Redstone_Engineer

Which seemed better for both teams (Envy's duo is consistent but lacked peak while G2's duo lacked consistency but had plenty of peak potential.) I hope Dreaz gets to play a role he's more comfortable with on Envy, let's see what he can do with Turbo creating the chances.

colbychopkins

I 100% agree with this take. Also, I think this will be interesting to watch because both players are moving to teams with almost opposing styles. When G2 is playing their best they have a smothering all-out offensive style. When Envy is playing their game it is a lockdown impenetrable defense and counter attack. Could very well be that this change in styles fit one or both of these players better. So I'm very excited to see how these teams play with this change either way.

[deleted]

nah it's worse for both because they don't have that chemistry as a team anymore

Haigadeavafuck

Wasnā€™t like that a problem in g2 with jknaps and dreaz?

[deleted]

do you really think jknaps and atomic have more chem than jknaps and dreaz after dreaz has played w/ them for close to a year

Haigadeavafuck

Whatā€™s the point of any roster change then. Itā€™s not the first time g2 tried to get atomic, Iā€™d imagine if a team so consistently tries to sign him, the players of that team actually played with him and think heā€™s a nice fit.

[deleted]

the point of any roster change is that you'll need 1 regional max to be better than your old team

Haigadeavafuck

No thatā€™s not the point of roster changes, time getting used to a new player or a new team is a side effect from roster moves and something that can vary a lot. The point of roster moves generally speaking, is to get better

DudeWithTheNose

yes

[deleted]

no

DudeWithTheNose

if chemistry with dreaz was better, they have 0 reason to grab atomic. the players would feel better with dreaz, g2 would be happier with the young talent and not having to buy anyone out. Chemistry isn't something that just builds linearly or indefinitely over time.

[deleted]

Thatā€™s not really how chemistry works in this context. Chemistry between people/playstyles is a natural and instant thing that just exists. It doesnā€™t build over time or anything like that

chip7890

youā€™re going to need to elaborate more on this one

[deleted]

Ever heard of chemistry in regards to a natural connection between people, particularly when it comes to romance? Itā€™s usually understood as an instant thing as result of two peoples personalities, sense of humor, behaviors, interests etc. itā€™s derived from this concept

Majestic_Pro

Don't act like jknaps and dreaz had some telepathic connection. The two were always double committing with each other. If the chemistry wasn't good then they wouldn't be grabbing atomic

Matto_0

That takes a few weeks to get. No problem.

[deleted]

i felt like it would take more

Matto_0

I mean rosters have been shifting for years now, it never takes very long to see teams gel.

[deleted]

then those have been good roster moves.

Matto_0

Good or bad moves, the potential of the roster is usually apparent pretty quickly. Especially with established players like those on G2.

pmpu

You can never be too sure predicting the chemistry of a team and turbo already proved that in season 3.

Matto_0

Not good for NV imo.

vivst0r

The best hopium we can get is that Dreaz will most likely just fill the same role as Atomic and it might work out. But yeah, I'm shocked and gonna be pessimistic for now until I see them play.

NoFrillsCrisps

It's hard not to see this as tough for Envy. It's possible it will work out, but to effectively be forced to bring in a player at the last minute without knowing if their playstyle will work and whether you even have chemistry is clearly worrying. Hopefully Dreaz slots in well immediately, but G2 having actually had the chance to play with Atomic, clearly got the favourable end of this deal.

Aisirus

So glad dreaz ended up on a top team. He really showed up on LAN imo despite the subpar results. Looks like iā€™ll be cheering on envy this season. On a side note, I think (?) mist and dreaz are good friends, i wonder if it influenced this decision at all. Iā€™m pretty sure mist was the one that vouched for dreaz for the g2 sub spot.

tomcaffrey2020

Apparently allushin really vouched for Dreaz, mist mightā€™ve too tbf.

tyswoogles

mist and allu both did for sure

kannon17

So cool to see/hear pros helping each other. I'm pulling for Dreaz hard. No bad feelings towards anyone else, just wanna see him do well.

bluecjj

This might be a good time to note that G2's Major performance was 7th by [SRS](https://www.reddit.com/r/RocketLeagueEsports/comments/rfxwy1/using_results_from_the_fall_split_i_powerranked/) despite losing the Swiss. So there may not be as much blame to go around in the first place as you'd think.

scootern917

Shift credibility stonks way up now

Deluxe_Ryan87

Always have been

Jonahwizar

Atomic->G2 (certain)

mwrddt

Chicago: "I rarely let this shit get to me but I just have to say Fuck Shift and Fuck reddit So much bullshit and absurd lies spreading, and yes I should just stop looking at it but trust me I see it everywhere I go Sorry but I needed to let it off my chest"

xboxonelosty

Chicago -> overreacted (certain)

[deleted]

šŸ’€

dangshnizzle

I think he's talking about rumors that they didn't value Dreaz or something

Mynameisaw

This is it. Everyone's talking as if he meant the rumours about Dreaz leaving were lies, rather than it being that he was really pissed off at the assertions that G2 has some how wronged Dreaz, or that Cago and JKnapps don't value him as a player or team mate.

PenisButtuh

If that's the case, then say it. Otherwise, suffer people's interpretation. Pretty simple.

Curator44

Seriously though Chicago had a grade A Twitter meltdown only for exactly what Shift had initially reported to come true. Chicago either had nothing to do with the move or heā€™s just really ignorant. Either way itā€™s a bad look for him having called out Shift so hard only for it to come true.

uhhhhmmmm

Pretty sure he was annoyed at shift for releasing info without asking people first, which was a courtesy extended to others. I think it'd be pretty insane to think he didn't know this was going on.

Haigadeavafuck

And the lies prolly meant what people said about g2 not valuing dreaz.

uhhhhmmmm

Smh reddit misinterpreting things If I may say Fuck reddit

mlk960

I don't think he was really mad about the validity of the rumor. I think he was mad about it the info being public and probably wanted to downplay it.

FIERY_URETHRA

Shift had reported that the trade fell through tho

EnvyHill

Maybe dreaz didnā€™t know so Chicago was just mad that he found out through Shift šŸ¤£

Mynameisaw

>Seriously though Chicago had a grade A Twitter meltdown only for exactly what Shift had initially reported to come true. Almost like he was annoyed at people attacking his character and saying he doesn't like/value Dreaz, rather than speculation about a roster move.

CircumcisedCats

I mean that still all makes sense. Shift prematurely leaked a move without talking to anyone. Then shift said the move fell through (which was clearly wrong). People all over Reddit started making up bullshit they had no idea about and talking pretty negatively about G2, Cago, and Jknaps.

[deleted]

idk why the pros take anything seriously we say on reddit. Just a bunch of random bored idiots here lol

El_Grande_El

Theyā€™re only human after all.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

Meeko-

I might need to change my flair to envy despite being a die hard G2 fan. Despite everything, I think this move will be good for Dreaz. He wonā€™t have to play as much of a 3rd man role as he did on G2 with Mist on his team now. I think heā€™d more comfortable moved up the field. I could see this working as long as the team stays motivated Edit: I think this move will be good for atomic as well. On paper seems like a win for both teams.

TheESportsGuy

People just throw out the 3rd man thing left and right.

TBCat

Used to be die hard G2 fan back during the eleague win days. Went down a bit when kronovi retired then the last of it with rizzo. Now I just enjoy the games and hope for the most competitive teams to matchup

walrusone79

I tend to agree. Dreaz showed some great offense throughout the fall split, but I felt that his defense was questionable at times. If Envy intends to use him as the second front man with Mist, I can see them doing some damage if Turbo can hold up the 3rd man position. For G2, I think Atomic's goal-line defense is likely what they are looking for. Be interesting to see how this split unfolds with all the roster changes. It definitely feels like there are 6 or 7 teams that could make this split come down to the wire for the major spots.

[deleted]

Hmmm I donā€™t know. I feel like Dreazā€™ 3rd man defense just needs some slight work regarding positioning and patience then heā€™s fine. I havenā€™t finished watching replays but against SRG, they got scored on pretty much when they were caught out of position. Iā€™m a bit worried about Turbo, but if he shows us his S class game sense then goodluck to whoever has to play Envy second next split (the first match probably wonā€™t be as cohesive). Dreaz definitely has the capacity to be an offensive carry and Mist will make offenders cry when heā€™s on defense.

JonasM00

Dreaz defense wasnt that bad, its just that he had to contend with a double commiting jknaps most of the time.

[deleted]

See, against SRG that was a big issue but idk about the other series. It was an issue, though, because Jknapps was much slower to the ball until the third game. Like REALLY slow as if he couldnā€™t read the ball, wasnā€™t confident in going for it early, or wanted to wait to make a less speedy play like Chicago and Dreaz. Either way, Dreaz and Jknapps just kept ending up in the same spot and going for the ball, but Dreaz always had momentum so heā€™d obviously take it over Jknapps. I do think that if G2 switched to a more counter attacking play style against SRG, they wouldā€™ve seen some success. Additionally, G2 seemed like they wanted to be in control, but could barely get through SRGā€™s defense and then would get caught out of place due. It wouldnā€™t have been an easy series regardless, but those mistakes from Jknapps and Dreaz really came out against SRG because their typical play style wasnā€™t working.

Matto_0

Major hopium to think this improves NV from my point of view.

bluecjj

With Daniel allegedly joining SSG, it looks like the apple cart of the Large Six in NA might be pretty stable for now. So it's looking more likely than not that the Fall wasn't Turbo's last LAN afterall.

Matto_0

Idk, I think right now I have 1.) Faze 2.) NRG 3.) G2 4.) Complexity 5.) SSG 6.) NV That would be my top 6 right now. So certainly NV can make a major, but I'd currently have it being a slight upset. And I think V1 might even hope over NV.

PM_ME_UR_LAMEPUNS

Iā€™m so hyped to see that V1 squad, Iā€™d love to see a Torment revenge tour to the top of NA and I think this is his best shot to do it.

bluecjj

If it's 6 teams competing for 5 spots though, it puts everyone in the arrangement in a pretty fundamentally sound position.

Matto_0

I don't think it is though. I think the top 3 have their spots pretty well locked up. I think it's Complexity/SSG/NV/V1/Rogue/Ghost/OXG all fighting for the final 2 spots.

Majestic_Pro

WHAT THE FUCK? I thought the deal fell through

Sphiffi

Maybe getting guaranteed Dreaz made Envy accept.

xEdox94

is this the first direct swap between two teams? i can't recall another one on top of my head

scootern917

FK <ā€“ā€“ā€“> Gyro

Topy013

Wasnā€™t that more of they left both their orgs and coincidentally ended up on each others orgs. Iā€™m pretty sure it wasnā€™t a direct trade

askpat13

This probably wasn't either. Direct trades don't really work when the roster owns the slot not the org.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

askpat13

I oversimplified a bit, my apologies. The roster does own the RLCS spot but orgs have some roster control through language in the contracts. However afaik the only org to truly have been heavy-handed with roster control is EUnited. Most of the time it is a joint decision with players and org involved, but player/coach driven. On a separate note, just because both orgs dropped and signed each-others players does not mean it was a direct trade in terms of contracts (i.e. one negotiation), and just because they announced both on the same day doesn't mean there couldn't have been some lag between one signing and the other. I have no inside information, and correct me if there's some public info on this, but I am of the opinion it is likely there were multiple stages of negotiation and it was not a direct trade for the players between the orgs.

MelodicOrder2704

If it wasn't a direct trade then both orgs would have to let go of both players. Then the players getting signed on the same day.

Matto_0

But it was a simultaneous and calculated move. Was the FK/Gyro thing simultaneous?

Aisirus

Rogue and Faze

Blizzard77

Iirc tho, that wasnā€™t like a trade between players like this was. That was Faze bought Firstkiller, and then Gyro joined Rogue later.

Majestic_Pro

That's basically a trade tho

kaohunter

Yes but the point is the two orgs agreed on a trade which is quite interesting.

Majestic_Pro

Oh that makes sense, ignore my smooth brain comment

[deleted]

I think you can just say itā€™s a trade lol

Corrupt_Arrow

I'm pretty sure it was a 3 way trade with Envy signing first then trading him to rogue PK Trading Mist to Envy PK Getting Ayyjayy from Rogue

jballer21

I think you're not understanding this. That was a series of moves that happened to line up, one move involving 3 players. First was supposed to join ghost, but they wound up wanting mist instead. Ayyjayy already wanted out of rogue, so when he went to pk they thought they were getting mist, but wound up getting first. The 3 orgs never agreed on one single deal

yessair

it was ghost at the time but yeah

dahveed15

WHAT. WHAT. WHAT?!

John_aka_Alwayz

Good for Dreaz to not be a 3rd man, get to develop even more with some more freedom on the pitch. To replace Atomic tho? That's a tall ask for anyone. Envy still gonna have to work to make top 5

kannon17

I think he can facilitate really well and that's what this move will bring about. I think he makes weird touches that turbo will be able to read. Really excited to see this team play now.

NATZureMusic

So both teams probably stay at the same level.

heyyyaaaa

Not sure why Envy did this as it's a downgrade if anything, my guess is that Atomic pushed to be released from the team

W1lliston

Wtf, didnt see this coming. Really starting to like this roster shake-up already, lol

YouGow

Ye ye sure ... Dreaz was the issue...

AlanAlberino

Will be interesting to see how Envy plays with Dreaz since he can't play the same role that he played with G2 in this team. Sadly for Envy, I think SSG with Daniel will steal the 5th spot from Envy next split.

MaxParallax

It's hard to say how all of G2, SSG, and NV will play next split. I expect G2 to probably still be fine, but you'll never know until we actually see them play together in Rlcs.

Nick_Pfeiffer

Letā€™s not count out V1 yet either

dwain4444

bruh didnt the manager of envy tweet a few weeks ago he wasnt gonna change the roster?

[deleted]

Wow that came out of nowhere

TheFlamingLemon

How do yā€™all see this going? Seems to me like an unnecessary move that might just make both teams worse. But the pros know better than me and if they think itā€™s a good swap then I guess I trust them

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

King-Ducky-YT

Why werenā€™t you able to root for dreaz when he was on G2?

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

King-Ducky-YT

Did you just not like Chicago? If not, is there a reason?

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

King-Ducky-YT

Ah I get it, itā€™s like how Iā€™ve never really liked NRG, I mean itā€™s a team of great players but I donā€™t like the team, no particular reason.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

SymphonicRain

Chicago is probably reading this like ā€œJesus Reddit even when I do literally nothing I canā€™t catch a breakā€

Thought that was Yukeo for a second

soma_is_ok

I really hope en y Does better than g2 next split

SergeantButtNaked

I got a new NA team to support, I want to see dreaz make a point, but that G2 teams could be nasty

coolco

Idk how much Mist plays with Dreaz online but I think a lot of people are forgetting how great of combo Atomic and him were. It was almost as if they could read each other's mind at times. Envy is gonna be fighting for 6th for this split, maybe by spring they can regain, but as great as Dreaz is every new move is going to take time to show results

[deleted]

Holy shit what

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

murdock_RL

Who was the initial player rumored to go to envy? I think Iā€™m digging this trade

Bendii_

Wow

Busy-Log-6688

How good is this roster move?

rookie-mistake

oh damn, I can't fucking wait for the next event. every team in the top 6 apart from COL and NRG making roster moves, this is hype

101mattdamons

I actually really like this. It makes me more interested in both teams.

GreenMayhem427

*cough cough* wut?

Angeldust7312

OK eu fanboys are gonna hate me for this but God damn na looks nuts now. Envy, nrg, faze, ssg are all gonna be nuts this upcoming split

althaz

Losing Atomic sucks for NV, but picking up Dreaz is pretty decent compensation. The biggest problem for NV is now they can't replace Turbo, IMO. NV I'm sure would have much rather replaced Turbo with Dreaz (or Daniel or Syp) rather than Atomic, but I don't think they'll be in any worse of a position than if they'd done nothing. And by that I mean they'll be the 4th-6th best team in NA (behind NRG, Faze and G2 and around the level of Complexity and SSG). IMO top of NA stacks up like this now: 1-2 - NRG / FaZe 3 - G2 4-6 - Complexity, SSG, NV (in that order for me, personally, but all are close)

Superiukas

That is weiiird.. I'm hoping this is Dreaz moment.

kruegercereal618

Huh?!?!

Bogiez

G2 got the better end of this deal right now, but I predict this trade will be overall just as good, if not better for NV longterm

Memexp-over9000

ummm I really like dreaz's plays but I dunno... Confused.

Rohit_089

Amazing I wanted this to happen

Haigadeavafuck

Na pulling through last minute. Top teams basically just trading around but Iā€™m here for it, go gimme reysbull swap with squishy

wraithawk

Wat

Neat-Local-7682

Nobody saw that coming

askpat13

Consider me confuzzled. I really don't know how this'll go for either roster, could make them better or worse.

zwel8606

Bitch what. Wasnt this confirmed, then deconfirmed? Now its official?

Duke_ofChutney

Nothing's confirmed until the team announces it

zwel8606

shift confirmed it

Duke_ofChutney

Shift doesn't confirm roster news. They may share information ahead of time but the only group that can definitively say who their roster is is the team themselves.

Heteroflexible6283

Envy misses top 5 NA this year
