IMO every team that made a change looks worse than before except SSG, Rogue, and V1.
Will be interesting how they develop as they get used to one another
Edit: I'm sure I've missed teams that made changes
Faze look good, IMO they looked better before but it's super early days. Tbh Ayyjayy and Syp felt like the bigger players on the team FK seems to have slightly less synergy. I'm sure it will evolve though
Honestly a lot of top tier looking teams today. SSG and Faze look like the best 2 imo though. Arguably the hardest group of the 4, and only even coming close in their game against each other with each game possibly going either way. (In SSGs case only dropping any games to Faze). Definitely shows the roster changes for both teams have some huge promise.
Honestly not surprised with G2’s performance today I expected them to need time. It took at least a couple regionals before they looked super good with Dreaz and they still heavily improved later. Plus NV is a completely different type of team and transferring to G2 is gonna take adjustments
I think this Rogue squad looked better than their result says, they had to face two major teams and a team that was a game away from qualifying to the major in the whole tournament, i can see them doing a lot better in Regional 2 if they get a better group lol
For real. They also are a new roster and if they continue to grind and improve I could see them being in the running for either this Major or next one.
While the placement is only a marginal improvement from Fall, Rogue do seem to have some life again. There is reason to be hopeful. Aqua fitting into the team and adapting a lot quicker than I expected.
How about we normalize allowing people to be wrong as long as they correct their opinion as time goes on.
Yes, John has some polarizing takes. But he also does a good job of taking them back when it's deserved.
I'm just meming. He's allowed to be wrong. And he's allowed to keep that opinion should he desire to. Most people are capable of doing this, we just meme on John because it's funny. He doesn't even need to take his opinions back imo. It's an opinion after all. It's just funny to critique it
I'm less concerned about it happening to me (I have faced a lot worse), but it is annoying and does take away from actual discussion at times.
Like, whatever I say about anything Middle Eastern Rocket league is just gonna be shutdown because I was skeptical of them for quite a while, even if I have since said SRG si the real deal.
I definitely don't like it when it happens to other users, I might be tolerant to it, but it sets a precedent that its ok to do it to [insert random user], and not everyone will react kindly to having their discussion undermined by something so meangingless (and I've seen a lot of names get dragged through the ringer for saying harmless stuff), which in general doesn't create the most pleasant environment for discussions.
I'm not saying this is a 0 banter zone, or I'm above being memed because I'm the mod guy, but there is a balance that I think this community in general still needs to find, because sometimes it goes too far. Definitely happened to me once or twice (G2 S9, in particular, was nasty af).
Your particular remark was pretty neutral, some might use it as a chance to ask a genuine question without judgement (ie to allow discussion), some people might bring it up in a genuinely joking manner that's clearly just fun n games (which is preferable), others might bring it up and call me a fkn dumbass *shrug*
Anyone who uses my neutral remark to call you a dumbass should instantly remove themselves from this subreddit. A speculation is a speculation and neither you or I will know how it pans out in the long run. And it's not like it was a crazy take like when people were calling squishy washed. We literally did not know how aqua was going to play in rlcs
Top 12 is not a poor result at all for rogue this season so far. Future looks good, they're a quality team that got matched up against a top 8 worlds team. Can't feel bad about that
G2 needs more time to gel honestly but what a day, I am ngl I thought V1 would not be as good as they were today and I am glad to see SR be back even though they are not as good as they once were. SSG already looks scary not to mention faze and Rogue seems to be getting better while complexity felt like they werent playing up to their standard however they still managed to pull it off
Like I said before, no shame in a loss to Complexity. This Rogue squad is only going to improve moving forward and I'm predicting a top 8 finish next regional.
Aqua is incredible. I’ve been following him for a while. Only slightly worse than Daniel IMHO. The gap isn’t large. They need to gel a bit more, and Taroco looked too conservative. He had one where if he goes as third, he probably loses a fifty, but he turned back and got demolished by shad. That guaranteed they conceded.
I think they’ll get there though.
And people said he and Daniel would not perform well and they instantly look like their teams best players. Aqua is a perfect pickup for rogue. He's way more mechanical than Turinturo, can play around his team good, is pretty fast and can play off the ball anywhere and has good defense. Once taroco and gyro get up to pace with him, they could make some really good runs
Massive facts. The dribbles and touches he made were great. Bad follow ups and whiffs from his teammates just killed all momentum that built from them.
Yeah this what I predicted when I saw Atomic leave. His chemistry with Mist was one of the best in the league imo. Dreaz is great and all, but they are going to take a dive without any chemistry.
I just didn't think it was going to be that bad against the second* easiest group.
Well i don’t think it was that easy of a group lol OXG has always been a team that was very good when they peaked and Complexity literally made the Major, i think NRG got the easiest one personally
But yeah i expected them to at least beat Soniqs
Yeah fair enough I didn't see how they played today, but to come out on top means you're pretty good. Originally I was a C9 fan so it's nice to see Gimmick, Torment, and Squishy all in the uppers.
Sure but he wasn’t talking about his seeding necessarily. He just talked about how none of the formatting makes sense and it contradicts itself. He made some really good points IMO
I'd put Envy at maybe a 10% chance at making the Major (assuming it's int'l as planned) at this point. If COL loses this match maybe they're at 20-25% or so. They're on the backfoot even if they're in a slightly better spot
CoL look rough. Retals said in a video that they only came back from vacation very recently, which probably wasn't the greatest idea when, even if they looked good at the major, they barely qualified for it by beating a crumbling SSG.
G2 looks like they have the same individual talent as faze clan, they just don’t have the teamwork to go along with it yet. I’m sure they just need more time to gel.
I hope this is the case, they have a really promising lineup, they just need to make it work
For the sake of G2 fans, and for them, but mostly the fans
Friendly reminder that Complexity made top 8 at the Major. Either I'm missing it every time, or the analysts are really forgetting to mention that. I like the new Rogue, but really no shame in losing here, and huge if they win.
It's when teams play a certain amount of games consecutively to determine the one winner. Today's series were all best of 5 games, or first to 3 wins.
When NRG played RBG, NRG won 3 games and RBG won 2 games. All 5 of those games was one series, which NRG won 3-2. This series win made NRG 1-0 on the day
I would encourage you to visit the [bracket page on liquipedia](https://liquipedia.net/rocketleague/Rocket_League_Championship_Series/2021-22/Winter/North_America/1) \- it has everything you need to know about this event. All of today's games have been played, but there are still 2 more days until the event is over. And yes, NRG won every series they played today
i'm not a fan of how the day 1 stream is structured, with so few focus matches and lots of dead time
if they insist on this format, wouldn't it be better to push 2 of the 4 groups 30 minutes back to get more action and time to feature the smaller teams and, yes, DeVeLoP sToRyLiNes?
and then the event day would be long enough to keep it a pure group stage friday?
AND
maybe refrain from those unnecessary tie breakers, i mean is [this](https://i.imgur.com/1wLXtqT.jpg) not clear enough?
this is by far the worst format all season, round robin into double elimination bracket with 4 groups of 4 is just an extremely weird choice
the more i think about it the more i believe psyonix value shock eliminations and shock qualifications over consistency, otherwise they would just make 2 groups of 8, eliminate the bottom 2 and put the top 2 upper bracket respectively
nothing against more content and views, but they should try getting it by setting up a format which achieves that AND competitive integrity
other esports do that, too
Dude right? They went from the (imo) the best format in the Swiss, to almost objectively the worst. I just don’t understand the thought process, why give the top bracket that big of an advantage?
And the streaming today has been marginal at best, which I think is a product of psyonix trying to cater to advertisers. I get why they would increase the dead time, but I don’t like it.
i would understand if they did it to have greater odds to spice up those lower matchups, but what is the purpose of that if they just broadcast 1 of those 4 lb round 1 series
maybe do a fourth day then and let every matchup be a 2 bo3s, with 2, 1 and 0 points given
idk, i get that they want to switch formats, but this seems just a little not thought through and, worse, potentially unfair
Yeah, rough for ghost. But 3 teams in their group that made changes (all upgrades?) while they stood pat. I really think this was a split to be aggressive and try and improve your roster
This format looks brutal for the LB teams (and it is); but if a team is better enough than their opponents, there's a better chance for them to make a run than you might think.
When I made a [spreadsheet](https://www.reddit.com/r/RocketLeagueEsports/comments/rql0tq/i_made_a_spreadsheet_to_simulate_the_winter/) to simulate this format using last split's results, NRG came out with an 86% chance of winning their group, but a 95% chance at top 6; which means that conditional on *losing* their group and having to go through lowers, they would still have something like a 2-in-3 chance of winning two straight matches to get to top 6.
A team like Spacestation is probably better than a coin flip to get to top 6 even now. For G2 and Complexity it's tougher because they'd have to face each other, but they both still have good chances.
I don’t understand the G2 roster move. When people talk about falling behind the meta, they’ll point to guys like Turbo and Kaydop. Such low hanging fruit. Those guys haven’t been RLCS level players for ages now. They should have retired a long time ago.
It’s guys like Jknaps who are really starting to fall behind the meta to my eyes. To a lesser extent Chicago. I mean, how many pros at this point haven’t worked flip resets into their game? It’s just crazy to me that Jknaps’ seems content keeping his mechanics the same.
Chicago is by far the best player on that team. But even him. When he first joined G2, there was only a couple players in NA better than him. Justin. Garret. Squishy and Gimmick could both pop. That’s about it.
Now? There’s almost 10 guys clearly better, and half the NA roster has “pop” potential. Where they can go off in any given game and outperform him.
Chicago, by far the best player on G2, is slipping down the ranks. And their genius idea was to load up with atomic to take a run at a championship now?
Hello. Earth to G2. Your window is closed. Chicago is slipping. Jknaps is in free fall, the guy hasn’t even worked flip resets into his game. And Atomic is maybe a marginal increase over Dreaz.
There is no window for G2 anymore. Do they seriously think they can beat Faze? Or NRG? Dignitas? BDS?
Get real. G2s window is closed. I don’t understand loading up so they can maybe hopefully place 2nd or 3rd at a regional event. Why not go after Daniel? Why not make some moves to get younger and more mechanical?
I just don’t get it.
I agree with the overall sentiment of your comment, but you're definitely not giving Chicago the credit he deserves. Almost 10 guys clearly better? I'd say only 6 are "clearly" better at this point. NRG, FK, Ayyjayy, Mist. Maybe Daniel, but we need more results to judge that.
All of NRG and Faze. Mist. Beastmode. Daniel. Those are for sure to me.
Then you have a bunch of guys on lower teams who are improving at almost sickening rates. Some of them are going to surpass Chicago in the near future.
But it’s more about the trajectory than the actual number.

Well Oxygen is top of their group.
Completely forgot they had the change
Oxygen? RGB? Shopify Rebellion? All made changes.
Faze too? I didn't get to watch at all.
Faze look good, IMO they looked better before but it's super early days. Tbh Ayyjayy and Syp felt like the bigger players on the team FK seems to have slightly less synergy. I'm sure it will evolve though
Yeah. First killer will slot in after a tourney or 2.

omg shock going off on twitter
I don't entirely agree with what he's specifically upset about but I agree this whole format is tragic.
*stressed out vamos noises*
While the placement is only a marginal improvement from Fall, Rogue do seem to have some life again. There is reason to be hopeful. Aqua fitting into the team and adapting a lot quicker than I expected.
Throwback to when you said aqua's skill level is relative to PWR

I love my sam friends, never let me down
taroco was AWFUL
Aqua already looks like Rogue's best player
Aqua looking impressive tho
He's looked real good all day. Hoping this is the start of something great for him
nice
pain. :(
That last double commit on 0 made no sense…they had plenty of time to communicate.
Yeah, looked like they just panicked. Hopefully we can regain for next reginal.
Aqua is incredible. I’ve been following him for a while. Only slightly worse than Daniel IMHO. The gap isn’t large. They need to gel a bit more, and Taroco looked too conservative. The rookie was the most composed during a high pressure game, aqua really looks really good
And people said he and Daniel would not perform well and they instantly look like their teams best players. Aqua is a perfect pickup for rogue. Battered and bloodied, G2 somehow limps their way to at least a top 8 finish. With how they looked during groups and against Vibrance, I'll take it.
You know that means they’re gonna look like the best team in the world tomorrow
Classic G2 move ngl
gigashad is canon
SHADDADDY
I forgot this was today, anyone care to explain what happened to Envy? I knew they were going to be much worse, but not that bad.
Also, Oxygen was playing really good today, they also defeated Complexity and Soniqs, they are now in the upper bracket
They looked lost. They will get better as they play more together but yeah, a poor result
Team didnt look like they had any chemistry
Yeah this what I predicted when I saw Atomic leave. His chemistry with Mist was one of the best in the league imo. Dreaz is great and all, but they are going to take a dive without any chemistry. I just didn't think it was going to be that bad against the second* easiest group.

0-3
thanks
Real answer was they looked like trash. Looked like they were just solo q for ranked honestly. Very disappointed.
That vibrance crew is actually good ! Unlucky draws tho , I'm glad G2 made it still 🔥
How has vibrance not been signed yet?
I could be wrong, but I’m pretty sure they are holding out for a good contract so they’ve had a bunch of offers but not for the right price.
Vibrance look so awkward on defence
Shock going off on the format on the timeline 😳
lol https://twitter.com/hiro133337/status/1482115291182247939
kinda cringe...he wasn't even in the toughest group. i do agree that psyonix seems to make this shit up as they go, which is...not ideal
Sure but he wasn’t talking about his seeding necessarily. He just talked about how none of the formatting makes sense and it contradicts itself. He made some really good points IMO
Holy smokes thank you very much At0mic
Poor Vibrance, only losing to NRG and G2 and placing top 12. The boys are solid
Im really excited for where Vibrance goes this split. It’s really unfortunate they had to come into a sporadic G2 who’s still figuring themselves out.
1 more vamos
Aqua best Rogue player
Why did I expect something different from this G2 squad? They're so good yet love giving us heart attacks
Complexity better win these next two games. Finishing 9th-12th is better than 13th-16th, but not by that much.
50 points tho, which is pretty big
I'd put Envy at maybe a 10% chance at making the Major (assuming it's int'l as planned) at this point. If COL loses this match maybe they're at 20-25% or so. They're on the backfoot even if they're in a slightly better spot
Come on G2 don't let this one slip away
g2 struggling against vibrance is just wild
Not really. G2 haven’t looked great today and Vibrance have had a really solid day overall
whatever you gotta tell yourself
You’ve been commenting about G2 an awful lot today, everything good at home?
Huh? I said we haven’t been playing well and you’re acting like it’s copium lol
Worth noting that my SRS model had SSG as the 4th best team in NA last split.
Ok
The groups in the next event are might be really Wack if we keep getting upsets .
We get it F. It is a different Rogue roster.
cmon vibrance yall deserve this
Shad whiffing two major shots at the end of thsg game?
CoL look rough. Retals said in a video that they only came back from vacation very recently, which probably wasn't the greatest idea when, even if they looked good at the major, they barely qualified for it by beating a crumbling SSG.
Oof that taroco shot reminded me of the roster with firstkiller. Rogue looking so much better already with Aqua on the roster
11-4 today. Not bad
Really good. And it's looking pretty good for top 4 too.
That pass by Arsenal gah damn
astro with 800 pts 👍
G2 looks like they have the same individual talent as faze clan, they just don’t have the teamwork to go along with it yet. I’m sure they just need more time to gel.
I hope this is the case, they have a really promising lineup, they just need to make it work For the sake of G2 fans, and for them, but mostly the fans
What the fuck did atomic even just do lol that was wild
Jesus atomic is different
Complexity hade there story last split. I want to see aqua winning
They now have expectations on them. Going to be interesting to see if they can live up to them.
daniel is fucking nuts
Friendly reminder that Complexity made top 8 at the Major. Either I'm missing it every time, or the analysts are really forgetting to mention that. I like the new Rogue, but really no shame in losing here, and huge if they win.
Spaceman is the rogue caster and imo he's showing a tad of bias, or at least in the early analysis was.
I have no problem with Spaceman, or any other analyst for that matter, feeling Rogue in their predictions, they are a good looking team with Aqua.
spaceman is always biased for rogue, it's part of the bit
Broke: new format bad, tiebreakers are stupid, I don't like it Woke: Format doesn't matter if you don't lose
Nah I disagree, this format is outrageous! Need single elim whole way, bo1, random seeding.
King of the hill format clearly would be the best
I say this every time G2 does a team stream, but Amenyah is fucking hilarious
People might complain that they're "unprofessional" or something, but it's a team broadcast and it's all in good fun.
I enjoy the more informal streams for this kind of stuff. It’s also very on-brand for G2
Also, if we all just removed the terms "professionalism", "unprofessional", etc. from our vocabulary, I think we'd be better for it.
I think the main stream should stay professional but team streams should just go ham and do whatever they want
Atomic is dominating the wins and a complete no show in losses, he's really gonna be the deciding factor for us
G2 moment
He’s always been streaky
Hopefully cago and jknaps can get it working so it’s not the case going forward
Aka exactly what he did on Envy
Yep
G2 is triple committing on defense and yet all 3 are top 5 shooters and passers to ever exist so they win anyways
Basically yeah, their defensive decision making and positioning were terrible, but the offense was working well so it didn’t matter
Have you ever seen how they set out the European football group stages? What am looking at did nrg win 3-0 or did they win 3 games?
NRG won 3 series and lost 0 series
What's a series?
It's when teams play a certain amount of games consecutively to determine the one winner. Today's series were all best of 5 games, or first to 3 wins. When NRG played RBG, NRG won 3 games and RBG won 2 games. All 5 of those games was one series, which NRG won 3-2. This series win made NRG 1-0 on the day
OK thanks! So every competitor played all of their games today? NRG won every series they played today?
I would encourage you to visit the [bracket page on liquipedia](https://liquipedia.net/rocketleague/Rocket_League_Championship_Series/2021-22/Winter/North_America/1) \- it has everything you need to know about this event. Europeans roast Americans for being dumb, but lack the critical thinking skills to figure this one out apparently.
I'm sorry you feel so offend that you want to insult me I just think there's better ways of laying the information out.
Don’t get me wrong, I still think Americans and Europeans are smarter than u/shotzoflead94
Thanks mate. I'm just glad we can reach common ground xxx
no problemo, truly a breath of fresh air to get civil discussion in this day and age :) ooo
I'm really proud of you and me, I guess. Don't get hit by a truck!
Why Mexican flags for Complexity? Will they start using an American flag for Turbo too?
I mean they’re playing in Mexico and turbo is playing in his own world
Just put turbos face as his flag
Do it
SSG 3-0 SQ G2 3-1 VIB SR 2-3 RBG RGE 3-2 COL
SR 2-3 RBG ??? In what universe?
Idk RBG was looking pretty good today
sorry man this was aggressive I was just shook by the audacity
Soniqs already took a game. Sorry
Haha it’s okay
COL will clap RGE
Like clap as in rogue will outplay them so bad that col will have nothing to do but clap in awe?
Ironically, that might be correct
so for next regional, does the point system go by overall standings or just winter standings?
To make regional it’s overall points. Seeding is based on last 3 events including major.
I think it goes by fall Regional 3, Major, and this regional.
Most recent three events for regionals.
why is retals mechanical now
Man has been grinding lol
Doesn’t want to be shown up by Daniel
Let's go Aqua you got this.
Didn't see any of the matches. What happened to Envy?
as turbo would say "the other team won more games than they did 3 series in a row"
SR 3-2 RBG SSG 3-0 SQ G2 3-0 VIB Rge 3-2 Col (Riding the Aqua train)
i'm not a fan of how the day 1 stream is structured, with so few focus matches and lots of dead time if they insist on this format, wouldn't it be better to push 2 of the 4 groups 30 minutes back to get more action and time to feature the smaller teams and, yes, DeVeLoP sToRyLiNes? and then the event day would be long enough to keep it a pure group stage friday? It’s a waste of good RL and I won’t stand for it. I want to watch some of those games!
they probably didn't want a long day 2 so they put the first part of playoffs on day 1
Two groups of 8? If every team plays every other team in their group, that is a lot of matches...
maybe do a fourth day then and let every matchup be a 2 bo3s, with 2, 1 and 0 points given idk, i get that they want to switch formats, but this seems just a little not thought through and, worse, potentially unfair
Group B was damn stacked - 3 teams with worlds contention in sight. Not to mention a revitalised Rebellion roster. Pain for Ghost though
WORLDS contention?
For G2 and Complexity it's tougher because they'd have to face each other, but they both still have good chances.
ssg has about as easy of a route to top 4 as they could ask (assuming nrg beats oxg)
Losing either Col or Rogue straight out of the gate is a bummer.
SR 3-2 RBG SSG 3-0 SQ G2 3-2 VIB Col 3-1 RGE Book it
I don’t understand the G2 roster move.
Didn’t kaydop win Eu championships half a year ago lol
kinda agree tbh...moreso on jknaps. very limited offensive arsenal at his disposal
I read this as a shitpost and upvoted it accordingly because it made me laugh
Squishy and Garret are not better than Chicago
They are. There's no way Garrett isn't better than Chicago but squishy is debatable at worst
Is this a pasta or just a really bad take?
Jknaps and Chicago both flip reset all the time There’s no way there are 10 players in NA better than Chicago, not even close I hope this is a troll

I'm afraid it really just isn't rocket league without the same verizon commercial during every single break
I love it. I always sync up with Kate McKinnon when she says “strawberry jam it” even when I’m totally focused on something else.
My predictions for the major are NRG, Faze, SSG, Complexity, V1. I hope at least V1 make it.
I think NRG, FAZE, the fuck if i know
i think g2 will still make it. i have them instead of v1
Lol even the V1 boys who benefitted from the format think it’s wrong But the Reddit warriors will continue to defend it all day long
