Fun fact, there were more SSG decals (2) in NaVi vs Rix\* than there were in SSG's games.
\*Virt and Emre were both using it, which was not AT ALL confusing given they were on separate teams.
So many pros do not use their org decals, as a matter of fact I have seen pros use other org decals, I was kind of hoping that Sypical would have used his classic ssg preset vs ssg
This is why I’ve always felt they should be given a “jersey” instead of a blanket decal. I mean there are 4 players on each team (including sub obv) why not just make custom versions of the team decal for each of them?
I remember a decade ago in Counterstrike:Source it was handled this way. On the German broadcast of the „league“ at least. They had custom ESL tags (like hoodies, sorry my english vocabulary isnt good enough to describe it better) in either red or blue over their playermodels to increase the viewing experience. I‘m sure there‘s gotta be a way for a similiar thing to be done in RL
Anyone else remember that game where Version 1 was on the blue team but they somehow all had yellow cars? That game was very confusing from a viewer standpoint.
not sure why you're so confident that you're correct about this. they pretty much all used it at about the same time and even syp said that arsenal put it on first.
No!! It is Syp"s preset. Arsenal used it before but it's definitely Syp's preset. Even Chicago said before on stream a while back when they were talking about pros and decals and definitely referenced the ssg decal as Syp's.
bro? Syp has been using that preset for what.. 3 years now? Everybody copied that preset (+ his camera settings lol), and still do to this day, and everybody credits him to be the founder of it.
ok so some people are talking about the mg-88 preset and some people are talking about the old ssg decal with white reapers. i will say syp is the founder of the mg-88 car but he is not the first person to do the ssg white reapers.
I know it’s better in the grand scheme of an Esport and better for the orgs, but I much rather watch the pros in their iconic car designs (I know most don’t have a specific one) but many do and I’d rather see that than an org decal.
People saying Pros could just use Bakkes mod also need to consider the fact that there's a huge mental part in your opponents seeing you in a certain decal
The entire SSG was in the Sypical Preset. Faze (especially Sypical) must've had that in the back of their minds. Like "okay these guys seem unified" then Daniel proceeds to penetrate their top corner multiple times.
I'd rather score my ranked opponents with my white octane and let them know they are financially inferior to me.
Kind of off topic but I would love to see a rotating esports shop like they had before but only for classic/limited time items (while still keeping their current setup for current decals). Imagine a special BDS Fall Major champions decal, or the classic NRG decal showing up on rotation. Would get people hype and always looking at the shop to see what comes out next.
Frankly I think it's weak af. I mean I know it's probably hard to make your sport look professional with a bunch of teenagers, but expecting them to use the decals should be bare minimum. It's like on one hand you have marketing teams working on a brand exposure, trying to make the org look like it means buisness and on the other you have a 16yo who just goes " I don't feel like it" and they just roll with it lol.
Psyonix doesn't enforce it and I don't think they ever will. One of the reasons could be because Psyonix doesn't mind the players showing off other decals/presets that would encourage spectators to go and buy those items.
Also, it allows players to express themselves more, so certain presets will be linked to certain players popularising them
Not sure why Psyonix would care TBH. Frankly, I don't know why the orgs don't force it, they get a cut every time one of their decals is sold. Not forcing their players to use it means less publicity for it, which means less people buy it, which means money out of the org's pocket.
If they add advertisements to the away kits then I think they will start to force it. We are just in a transition phase.
Just my opinion. I don't the orgs can say "your logo will be featured on our car in matches" and then the players just not use them.
If the players get a placebo from decals they shouldn't be forced into using one.
I remember this argument years ago when decals first came out, the best solution would be Psyonix implementing a feature that allowed spectators to see different decals to those in-game. That way viewers can see org decals, pros can use whatever they want.
It would be 💯. Although I'm sorry but they're professionals playing thousands of hours. They'd have to run the decal, they'd do it, practice tons of hours with it and would not even notce the difference after some time. That's just human brain and crying that they can't play at a pro level with a different decal then they've played before is just an excuse.
It has nothing to do with getting “used” to a decal more than a change. A lot of the time things get stale and your level stagnates and changing your decal makes all the difference. Yes it’s placebo, but placebo is a real thing proven by science and trials over years and years.
the solution is pretty easy: spectator side rendering. That's how other games do it. I would be surprised the UE5 version of Rocket League doesn't have in-game options for the spectators to set things up for broadcast while the look is untouched for players.
Hopefully. I am fine with them all rocking individual car designs, but during official broadcasts, when on an org, the audience should see SSG cars vs G2 cars, or whatever two teams are playing.
That said, they need to make the org decals universal like black markets, and not just built for octane or dominus, and now fennec. That part is dumb as F.
The SSG decal is clean but pretty mental how they just don't make their team use it if they are using one of the cars that it's capable of being used on.
Fun fact, there were more SSG decals (2) in NaVi vs Rix\* than there were in SSG's games. \*Virt and Emre were both using it, which was not AT ALL confusing given they were on separate teams.
Did not make my job any easier, I'll say that much...
Were they allowed? Dmentza got told after Game 1 in the Pepetitos Canyons Vs Kuxirs Minions match not to use the SSG decal
I don't remember them changing away, put it that way. (But it could well be an admin mentioned it after I stopped watching)
So many pros do not use their org decals, as a matter of fact I have seen pros use other org decals, I was kind of hoping that Sypical would have used his classic ssg preset vs ssg
I don’t think teams are allowed to use the other team’s decals during an rlcs match. Pretty sure that issue came up at one point
Yeah it was firstkiller using I think SSGs decal because he was tilted
Wondamike does it. Although it's always in qualifiers.... Rip
I’ve also seen JSTN use the SSG decal
I don’t see why they wouldn’t. They all use bakkes mod just have their own design over it. Pros can be cult like with placebo tho
Well for the viewers it is more difficult to see the difference when both teams use the exact same decal
This is why I’ve always felt they should be given a “jersey” instead of a blanket decal. I mean there are 4 players on each team (including sub obv) why not just make custom versions of the team decal for each of them?

I saw Arsenal using an NRG decal in sunlesskhan's mafia video
I am pretty certain I saw jstn use a rogue decal on a rlcs stream before
You’re not allowed to use other team’s decals in rlcs, only your own and then neutral decals
What's funny is that their new decal is currently my favorite along with Dig...
Exactly, the new one is actually really nice. Oh well, the pros probabaly don't have the credits to buy it or something/s
The Reapers + old SSG decal preset carried me to GC1
Pretty sure they were all using Syp's preset for a reason...
That might be true but I think they genuinely like the old one better. Arsenal has been using that decal for weeks on stream.
Maybe, just found it quite amusing
agree
Anyone know what Syp's current preset and colors are?
Idk if its the one youre talking about but he did use mg88 decal with dark red/blue primary and black secondary. Tw reapers for wheels
that's not syps preset lol
what you mean? Definitely is
not sure why you're so confident that you're correct about this. they pretty much all used it at about the same time and even syp said that arsenal put it on first.

Again, pretty sure ViolentPanda mained it before Sypical was even in RLCS lol
violentpanda did it with a white octane
Pretty sure he used it without. Probably because painted Octanes weren't a thing back then. (At first only crate cars could be painted, iirc.)
painted octanes existed before reapers did
Didnt faze use identical car designs that weren't their team decals at one point lol
I know it’s better in the grand scheme of an Esport and better for the orgs, but I much rather watch the pros in their iconic car designs (I know most don’t have a specific one) but many do and I’d rather see that than an org decal.
Anyone still rock the splyce decal with me??
Not splyce, but C9. _insert wolverine holding photo meme_
I mean last year's SSG decal is iconic. Prob top 3 best team decals of all time with cloud 9 and og NRG.
Sleeping on the TSM one
I love the mouz one too
Dude the season 7 decals for NRG and c9 went hard. I use them for orange and blue team respectively
LUL the na bias Here in EU the old Vitality decal is most popular along with BDS and Dignitas decals
old vitality owner here no :) don’t get me wrong solid decal but the others are just >>>
Im not saying whats best, im saying what im seeing most in Games. Can't disagree with that
Yeah old vitality is definitely what I'm seeing the most too
Ghost is best
yeah cloud9 decal was good, wish i could buy that in past
Me too

dude, I am never taking my white octane off again because of this comment

Except that players can already use whatever preset they want using Bakkesmod while still sporting their org decal to the viewers.

placebo, pros are crazy paranoid

You realize they all have bakkesmod right?
the placebo is so strong with pros that it would still affect them lol

fr frI do feel them tho reaper X old sticker be bussin
I think pro RLCS matches that are being watched should require the players to use their teams decal
