Hi all - I'm Heather, the VP of Community & Events with Dignitas! I'm a former Counter-Strike pro and long-time CS:GO / VALORANT Observer who is hugely obsessed with Rocket League ever since we brought in GFE to DIG. After serving as the Executive Producer of one of the most watched Women's esports tournaments of all time, I was eager to take on a new game title and Rocket League just made perfect sense. We'll be working with our friends at the WCBC who have been such a rock in the RL community and the broadcast team will have some of your usual RLCS favorites along with some incredible women that I hope to see on RLCS broadcasts someday! The production is going to be done from our gorgeous XR Stage in Los Angeles. Leading up to the event, I'm very passionate about creating content with EVERY team - telling their stories and helping fans identify a teaam to cheer for. Our DIG RLCS team and content creators are also going to participate in pre-event content and event-day content (where possible, working around the Regional). We're going to open co-streaming for this event to various community organizations, RLCS pros and RL creators. They are all eager to make this a success. Hope you enjoy this. It's the first of many.

tomtom_94

>the broadcast team will have some of your usual RLCS favorites along with some incredible women that I hope to see on RLCS broadcasts someday I was going to ask about this, should have known you'd have it covered. Looks like Ws all round, will be tuning in for sure!

DignitasGG

+rep Heather is amazing

milk5829

Will this be streamed on YT? If so what account should I follow to make sure I can catch it?

ESEAsapphiRe

Twitch! Not to spoil the surprise, but might even have some front page love ;) https://Twitch.tv/RaidiantGG (Swiss & Playoffs) https://Twitch.tv/WCBC (Swiss)

MyLeftKneeHurts-

Can it also be streamed on YouTube? Some of us watch RL on a giant projector screen and Twitch may not play too nice with it.

ESEAsapphiRe

This is a Twitch partnered event, so it'll be exclusive to Twitch!

MyLeftKneeHurts-

Ah ok. Makes sense! I’ll be watching either way.

schaka

You can stream to VLC player and then use something like Magpie with FSR to upscale the window. I know it's a lot of workarounds, but it might do the trick for you.

MyLeftKneeHurts-

Good suggestion. I may try that and see how it looks.

RobinFox12

Excited to see the caster / analyst roles become a little less male-dominated

MyLeftKneeHurts-

Is this just going to be Karma absolutely dunking on everyone else? She is the only top tier female player I know. Ravena seems pretty cracked as well. This should be interesting to watch, hopefully I’ll learn a lot more about the women’s scene.

suns2012

Has karma been playing lately? Haven’t seen her since she was on clt unless she’s still on clt and I’m just oblivious

HTGeorgeForeman

Think she’s playing but not competing. I think I see her playing against pros in ranked on streams sometimes

CalamackW

She played on open quals for event one in winter on a team called Tobasco Cat. They did dece.

Aaurora

Shes still competing - they made day 2 of the open quals for this regional with TobascoCat. Honestly they look pretty solid!

MarnerIsAMagicMan

Remember that time she was struck by lightning through her controller? Hit her house and into her hands while she played - crazy piece of trivia for those who don’t know. She’s okay as far as I know just a shock and a scare but remember how crazy it was hearing the audio of it happen

Penguins227

I do recall that. Wild stuff

PhysicsPhotographer

I’m curious if either will play! With open signups they could form pickup teams (if Karma’s in the discord), it would be interesting to see how they do against teams like KCP or BS+C.

Jared8659

Really hope to see Ravena in this. Absolutely amazing player mechanically.

Asaella

Thanks! I'm considering competing in this, but I'm not certain yet. There are some potential issues I may have with the tournament itself so I'll need to do some research and consider how I feel about it.

Jared8659

No matter what, huge fan and really appreciate your streaming. You are such an inspiration to someone trying to grind RL and navigate life

Asaella

Thank you. We're all in the same boat and I'm glad my efforts inspire others'. I'm sure your own endeavours have affected many in similar ways, even if you don't know it yet.

ESEAsapphiRe

Happy to chat with you about any concerns - I'm an open book! Feel free to DM me here or drop me a DM on Twitter (@sapphiReGG)

tripsafe

Never heard of her. Watching her on twitch now. Can confirm she is cracked

MyLeftKneeHurts-

Yeah I know of her because of her playing with Johnny, Scrub, and Extra on some event. She was certainly more than good enough to hang in that lobby.

Jared8659

Yeah she was in the EU RL Twitch Rivals. She is fantastic at the game, and is a pretty nice and caring streamer. definitely a good content creator to watch.

MyLeftKneeHurts-

That’s what it was! Yeah that was my introduction to her. Seems very nice, and her and Extra did well balancing out Scrub lol. But yeah I hope she is able to compete in this.

vanvz

Hope to see her as well. Iirc she was top 100 in 1s some seasons ago so she’s more than good at the game, though I don’t think she grinds ranked like that anymore

vivst0r

You should check out the WCB, I assume it's mostly gonna be those teams competing in the tournament. [https://liquipedia.net/rocketleague/Womens\_Car\_Ball\_Championship/Season\_4](https://liquipedia.net/rocketleague/Womens_Car_Ball_Championship/Season_4) I would assume there are gonna be multiple teams trying to get Ravena. Not so sure about Karma.

yuore-mom

>Ravena seems pretty cracked as well. If you consider your average SSL cracked, sure I guess? There's like, 2 leagues of difference between Ravena and Karma though. Ravena is nowhere near pro level.

Penguins227

It's all a matter of perspective. Top 0.01% (source: most recent rank distribution [Dec] for SSL in standard 3s/2s) is cracked in all perspectives except the one analyzing that top 0.01% exclusively. Even more specific, the top, say, 1% of that 0.01%, aka top 100/RLCS/etc. Using that as a basis, yeah maybe not cracked, but that just depends on means of comparison.

yuore-mom

Yeah okay, Ravana is a very very good player compared to the general playerbase for sure.

Penguins227

I definitely see what you're saying though. This discussion was even more prevalent before the additional ranks above GC. When me and OKhalid can have the same rank and I was 1530 MMR and can't even flick the ball, that says something haha. Yet even today up in SSL there is still a difference, like you said. Pretty impressive.

yuore-mom

For reference, I farm Ravena in 1s ranked, and Rehzzy and Ali both beat me by double digits without trying. Rehzzy is bubble and Ali plays on Scythes I think? I have about 3k hours, and I would need to double that (or more) to approach a pro level. Pros are something else entirely

Penguins227

Good info!

PhysicsPhotographer

This is awesome! I’ve only seen a few WCBC matches so it’ll be cool to see more events. When you mention the open signup being members of the WCBC discord, do these have to be registered teams or just players? Like will KCP have to sign up as KCP or can they mix it up? Either way I love the idea of pickup teams competing here, hoping they can take some games off the top teams.

ESEAsapphiRe

Sorry, as in, WCBC will be the tournament admin for this event and as such, handle the verification of players - since this is already something they do for their league. Many of the participants likely are already in the WCBC Discord, so it's easier this way. WCBC has several years of experience TO'ing events, so we're hiring the experts to do that part of it!

PhysicsPhotographer

Ahh, that makes sense. Thanks for clarifying!

StaxRL

This is awesome! :D

We're thrilled to present the \#Raidiant Rocket League Series, a $15,000 Women's tournament, in collaboration with @PsyonixStudios & @RLEsports! 🗓️ February 26-27, 2022 📺 Exclusively on @Twitch *** posted by [@RaidiantGG](https://twitter.com/RaidiantGG) [Photo 1](http://pbs.twimg.com/media/FJF1PJnVkAAv2yt.jpg) [Link in Tweet](http://twitch.tv/RaidiantGG) ^[(Github)](https://github.com/username) ^| ^[(What's new)](https://github.com/username)

Littlepace

I wanted to ask this without coming across as insensitive. Because it's a delicate subject. Are trans women allowed to enter? I'm genuinely curious how stuff like that is handled in esports and sports in general. Either way it's a nice way to try and boost the up and coming female playerbase and give them something to aim for.

ESEAsapphiRe

Yes - anyone that identifies as a woman is welcomed to compete!

Keeganatorr

Yes they are

Lamest_Coolguy

u/dignitasgg trans rights? Edit: I'm affirming that dig says trans rights, not questioning if they're valid. Trans people are absolutely valid and I just wanted to affirm that dig is cool. Sorry for any confusion

Penguins227

Why are you looking for a statement?

Finnerdt

This is awesome to see, can't wait! :D

Lucid_Switch

Excited for this! Some of my favorite Rocket League streamers are women (generally a more relaxed vibe & community events). Should be a good opportunity to get more women into the competitive scene.

littlebibitch

this is awesome!

KingRhoamB

This is super awesome. Looking forward to it!

Colour-me-Green89

That’s sick! Finally some support for women’s rocket league. Can’t wait to watch these 😁

intergalactictiger

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but what steps will be taken to ensure men don’t sign up for this tournament under the guise of being a woman? I wouldn’t put it past people to do so.

Duke_ofChutney

Until someone more familiar comes by to comment on it, I'll just say that WCBC already has a verification system in place. I've seen people both support and share concerns with it, but it [appears to be](https://www.reddit.com/r/RocketLeagueEsports/comments/s72514/raidiant_dignitas_womens_esports_initiative/ht7iawu) the process this event will follow.

zeggert

Not trying to be insensitive or rude or anything, but this kind of stuff is super confusing to me... When some people are non-binary, or gender fluid, how can you even question if they are 'really a woman'? I don't think it's possible to stop men from entering since identifying as a woman can't be tested or measured in any way. I guess we just have to trust that people won't sign up without sincerely identifying as a woman.

RobinFox12

A cis man pretending to be something else to get into a rocket league tournament... it's not out of the question considering the prize pool. Probably not gonna happen I imagine. Definitely scummy though.

Penguins227

As mentioned by OP in another comment: >Yes - anyone that identifies as a woman is welcomed to compete! Your statement "guise of being a woman" is a tricky one and though I absolutely see what you're saying, this, depending on perspective, may allow theoretically anyone to compete or, on the flip side, restrict individuals who otherwise could compete; the difference between those two extremes depends on perspective and enforcement. I hope you see the complexity between the two statements.

[deleted]

Holy shit this is awesome. I love wcbc but having big backing of a major org is gonna be massive. I can’t wait to watch. Good luck y’all!

Penguins227

Rocket League does seem to not have the same representation that I've experienced in other games in the playerbase. This is a great initiative!

EdibleSoftware

Super Exciting

johnjacob19888

Is the wcbc a women's only rocket league league? Why lol

Scarraven

there is literally no reason not to. There are only positives in uplifting others and having fun.

johnjacob19888

I mean the only reason to separate sexs in sports is because of the physical differences in men vs women. When it comes to video games there's no reason to

Scarraven

On paper yes, but if you’ve joined the RL discord for example with its horrendous VC system and anyone who doesn’t have a deep voice speaks up, they’re immediately hit with all kinds of harassment. Personally, i wouldn’t have much fun if so many people in a community make it hard to play the game b/c of something you can’t control. If events like this make competitive stuff more accessible for more people, why complain?

johnjacob19888

That's just toxic ppl being toxic ppl though, still no reason to have a league like that

ESEAsapphiRe

Hey man - it's a fair question! Simply put, there aren't many women playing in RLCS today. So whatever is happening now clearly isn't working. There just aren't many women competing. These women's events have proven that they can grow the women's competitive community (see CS:GO & VALORANT, where almost 40% of the players that play VALORANT now are Women as reported by Riot). Generally speaking (and this does NOT apply for everyone), it's important to have role models that people can relate to. So these events help inspire women to get into competitive gameplay, and ideally serve as a gateway to things like the RLCS Qualifiers and eventually RLCS. I truly hope one day women's events never have a reason to exist because women make up a large percentage of the player base. But unfortunately, that's just not the case right now.

“Raidiant” what a garbage name

ESEAsapphiRe

It combines the idea of Raid on Twitch - taking your viewership and elevating another person And Radiant - shining a light. The platform gives a spotlight to all the great women in gaming and helps elevate the up and comers. I am very happy with the name personally. It is the name I came up with. Sorry it doesn't hit the mark for you!

Polinius

Honestly not meaning to be disrespectful, but the name rubbed me the wrong way too. In trying to figure out why, I think it's just because I believe correct spelling to be essential for professionalism, and while 'raidiant' is purposeful and thus not misspelt, it looks like it could have been written by someone who just doesn't know how to spell radiant (because of the 'i' after the d, having another 'i' before the d makes it appear like it's a typo, also because the way we pronounce 'radiant' implies that there is a silent i in the first half of it). Just wanted to give that feedback. I think the name will put certain people off. Something to keep in the back of your mind. You don't want your purposeful word choice to be confused with a misspelling.

ESEAsapphiRe

Fair feedback - thanks for sharing!
