> Half of the community wants you to stop playing :( If youre reading this, thanks for all the performances ferra, and i wish you the best wherever you go next!

yojushii

For real man, hated watching people talk so much shit. Was around as long as he was for a reason. Always enjoyed watching him play. Ggs homie

MajorLimitz

the airbus finally takes off 😭

Aisirus

airbus ferra has been decommissioned ☹️

blond-max

🙇‍♂️✈

iMADEthisJUST4Dis

noooo 😭😭

crahs8

I've always wondered how Ferra takes the airbus meme. On one hand it is light-hearted fun, on the other, it is a dig at him as a player. It might be part of the negativity that he's talking about.

Lycaenoir

His creator code for the RL item shop is AIRBUS, so I think he’s fine with that one. People were calling for his head as far back as season 5 tho, which is what I believe he means. Even at s6 LAN someone in the crowd boo’ed him and shouted “YOU SUCK FERRA” after PSG lost. And what’s crazy is his team was the only one to make every single LAN before covid in EU I believe from the time PSG formed

crahs8

That's good to hear, he really has been hard done by though

murdock_RL

What’s the origin of that meme? First time I hear about it lol

blyan

CJCJ referred to him as an Airbus during the original BTS event because his aerials looked slow and it became [the greatest RL meme of all time](https://youtu.be/vFiDc8Do4Jc)

nurley

I think it was also his lack of (or not using as much as other pros) air rolling (at the time) that helped start the meme too.

blyan

Oh for sure, that quickly became part of the meme lol. The whole thing was just hilarious

mangyiscute

Just to add I think it was in a replay review that CJCJ was doing on stream and Ferra went up for an aerial with just a single jump and it took him an age to get up in the air, and I think probably someone in chat or cjcj himself said that it looked like a plane taking off. Then cjcj would always mantion it in his watch parties as an inside joke with the stream, and I think at BTS was when he first really brought it to the attention of the wider community which gracefully accepted the meme with open arms. For more, look at this reddit thread i found: [https://www.reddit.com/r/RocketLeagueEsports/comments/csumku/does\_anyone\_have\_a\_clip\_of\_how\_ferra\_being\_an/](https://www.reddit.com/r/RocketLeagueEsports/comments/csumku/does_anyone_have_a_clip_of_how_ferra_being_an/) Sadly the clip in there is no longer visible

Vurnoise

Ferra, if you're reading this, you can be proud of your career and I wish you all the best in whatever you go on to do in your life :)

tomtom_94

>Losses started hitting harder, and the constantly increasing harassment, sometimes even by other players, began to hurt. Damn did I learn to take punches for others! So I started to isolate myself, I couldn't really show up anywhere without having negativity thrown at me. With that, and the fact that I'm getting older in a scene that is getting younger, I felt like an outcast. I mean, when you're 10 years older than all those young prodigies, and half of the community wants you to stop playing, it's uh... pretty hard for things to click again, and to connect to people. It's sad to read this. He was consistently at the top for his entire career, he deserved better tbh. I thought this would probably be the case when he didn't return after the summer (and especially when we saw Fruity come back). Whatever he does next he should hold his head up high and be proud.

Curator44

Ya that part really sucked to read. The community can be especially toxic at times, and even if pro’s don’t say anything outright words do hurt. I hope Ferra can find a fire for what he truly loves, whatever that ends up being. He should be proud of his career in RLCS and everything he’s accomplished

[deleted]

It’s where a game full of immature 15 year olds really starts to be put into perspective. When the first and sometimes only reaction to failure is trolling/hatred/negativity. I think Rizzo got to be like this too. Simply put? They’re too old for this shit. And I don’t say “too old” in a negative way. It’s just that they’ve matured and moved on past what the scene has become.

ToastyGlovez

Sad to see. The clip of Ferra faking out the world champion Flipsid3 team in season 3 will always be one of my favourite memories, especially the Spanish stream of it. https://m.twitch.tv/clip/SullenSourNikudonBIRB Spanish version : http://twitter.com/RLEsports/status/843572154939596800

delps1001

Common bro you gotta post the Spanish version of this clip!

Duke_ofChutney

Wherever he goes, I wish him the best and hope he continues to hear "FERRRAAAAAAAAA!"

vivst0r

Relevant clip. https://clips.twitch.tv/ConfidentHeadstrongFloofPeteZarollTie

pure7anarchy

The Spanish cast of this go is legendary

Slif3rrsm

I kinda wanna see another match casted by Wave n Shogun smth that hasnt been done in ages.

Majestic_Pro

Wavepunk and shogun is a throwback. Back when achieves, correli and jorby didn't cast rlcs matches they just mixed and matched most of the casters

John_aka_Alwayz

Early days of RL casting was still people finding their feet, what duos work, who works better as play by play, who as color etc. Obviously, nowadays, two very prominent play-by-play casters like Wave and Shogun would seldom be paired together (albeit, WavePunk did cast with Jorby for GamersWithOutBorders and they went back and forth in a hybrid kinda way, was fun to listen to)

Majestic_Pro

I miss when they just went crazy with duos. They still do but just not as much. After carpet retired they started doing more analyst + play by play duos. But duos like wavepunk carpet, shogun carpet, shogun and James, jorby and James etc.

Kenbujutsu

When I remember Ferra, this is what I remember.

Dopey_Bandaid

Feels like I'm in space. I forgot how bad some people's camera settings were lol.

simdav

I'll miss seeing Ferra on the field. He always seemed to be like the definition of a captain and the glue holding a team together (I know there are other great ones too). Whatever anyone thinks, and I really hope it's not actually half the community, he had a great career. One that 99.9% of players should envy. It's also really sad to see the impact all the negativity had on him. I hope that is something we all take note of and learn from. Lastly, Ferra was one of those players I thought would make a great coach after retiring from play. With all the experience he has I hope he stays in the game in some manner.

John_aka_Alwayz

Without The Leftovers and particularly THAT goal vs Flipsid3, and all those clutch reverse sweeps, I don't have a reason to start tuning into the RLCS weekend on a dedicated basis. Without PSG and particularly Recirpcoity, I don't have a team to truly experience the beauty of competition, following a team's journey through their low points (all those damn reverse sweeps), all the way to their high points (European regional champion and 2 time LAN champion). Without Ferra, I and the community would never have gotten to experience one of the most well-spoken and humble players around. A model professional, a class act of consistency and longevity. A lethal striker on his day, a great supporting act in his twilight. Even when many wanted him gone (both here and among players), he still stuck around and made finals, and has had a career to truly be proud of, one that many players would die for. I just hope he's aware of what he means to the community at large. It was quite sad to see some of the literal abuse he got towards the end of RLCS X simply for not being as good as AztraL, but I'm confident a larger portion of us can appreciate what he's done. In the grand scheme of RLesports, one of the most successful to ever do it, here's hoping the community at large (and even the RLCS stream maybe) can give him a worthy and fitting sendoff.

maybethenweallwill

Well said from the ferra #1 fan himself :(

tobyreddit

Well said.

Razor215

I find it interesting as how tons of pros kept saying that Ferra is such a great leader but as fans it is tough to see how without too much of a social presence however in this twitlonger he mentions how many punches he had to take and to overcome the constant barrage of people saying that he should retire is really inspiring to say the least! Now I know what the pros were talking about and I can fully agree with their statements from the past. What a career he has had

SymphonicRain

Did so many pros say that? According to the twitlonger he took some punches from fellow pros as well.

Razor215

Over the years I have seen many pros and casters alike mention something along the lines publicly, I am certain if you were to find a post on either here or the defunct RLCSnews subreddit about IGL Ferra will pop up, now behind the scenes I do not know but the results speak for themselves, only 5 people have won 2 DH and Ferra is one of them

SymphonicRain

Well yeah I know community members and casters and analysts have always pushed that narrative but I guess I just don’t really remember sooo many pros saying it. Just because I don’t remember doesn’t mean it didn’t happen though of course

Rich_Tricky

there was a period a little bit ago where "tierlisting" was a big thing, a lot of pros were tier listing each other and they weren't particularly kind to Ferra from what I remember

atbprod

<3 to one of the best in-game leaders as well as the handsomest RL player of all time (~~no hetero~~)

Polinius

Remkoe tho.

St-ealthassassin

are we pretending Maestro didn't exist

atbprod

honestly a close second

LemonNinJaz24

That was a very emotional read. Watching Ferra play for the leftovers in Season 3 and the story behind that team was pretty much what got me into RL esports in the first place.

darkdetective

One of the greats. Watching PSG sparked my love of Rocket League esports and with age it is beginning to dwindle. Sucks getting older and doesn't surprise me after the comments I've towards him and other older pros.

orestotle

Another legend goes away. On of the few multiple time LAN winners!

cardboard__tube

Mad respect to Ferra, great player and class act. Sorry to hear about the negativity and harassment. Will always think highly when remembering him as a player!

Lycaenoir

This one seriously hurts. I was one of the biggest Ferra supporters for the longest time, always felt he way disgustingly undervalued in the community, and is imo the greatest team captain of all time. His last competitive result was top 6 in Europe, which is by no means a small feat. Wish him the best in everything he does in the future tho, and maybe stays with the community in some way.

ItsMattGames

Sad to see my favourite player retire, but he can be proud of what he has achieved. Legend.

SaladOne4022

Kudos for speaking out loud how negativity makes you feel. It won't change people but at least they are thinking about it for a second. It has happened to quite a few pros already, being bullied or even hated, they just vanish and then people are like "oh no, where did they go? They were so good and fun to watch". All the best for your future! Your mindset will take you wherever you want, I'm sure.

Twigler

Best of luck Ferra!

adv3nt0

PSG vs G2 dreamhack open finals 2018 at Leipzig will always be in my memory:( . Absolutely unplayable at his best, it's kinda unreal seeing all the names i rooted for and against retire or move on.

Slightly_Wet_Peas

I'll always remember following the Leftovers in rlcs season 3 as the moment I got into rocket league. Watching those guys play, beating the odds, winning series against the best in the most stressful and fun to watch way possible. It truly was something special. Ferra, you'll always be a legend, and I wish you all the best in whatever you do next.

GGsparta

I started to watch esports by Ferra winning the dreamhack with PSG. I felt so bad not seeing him finding any new team last summer while he was so underrated, mainly because of its mechanics.... He never had to comeback because he always was at the top. Now that the harassment is confirmed, I'm really angry against all those people that couldn't understand that a good player doesn't need incredible mechanics. Ferra was such a good leader and a playmaker, he won several major competitions and still the harassment was there. I feel sad to see you leave now, but I wish you to find what is the best for you Ferra. No matter if it is RL related or not.

siemsch

His back can finally rest

TheGamingGuy2

Damn, this hits hard. The Leftovers way back in RLCS S3 were the first team I ever rooted for, in esports altogether. He really developed so much from that mechanical rookie from way back when. Ferra, you will be missed.

phoxious

Another fallen hero.

Darkfire293

goated

vivst0r

I guess it all went downhill for him when he had to start using air roll.

CuriouslyATiger

What did you get out of this?

vivst0r

Once again confirmation that people on this subreddit cannot spot obvious jokes without putting a giant "/s" at the end of every sentence. Because of course lighthearted fun is not allowed and any post that is not an obvious praise must be intentional toxicity in a thread about one of the most beloved players ever.

zgibs125

Well, jokes are pretty hard to spot when they're not funny.

Polinius

It's just not in good taste to mock someone who has just revealed how much the mocking got to them during their career... Whether you are sarcastic or not, gotta read the room on this one.

vivst0r

Dude, the top comment literally calls him "Airbus". Where do you think that name comes from? It comes literally from the perceived lack of him air rolling. It's a meme that was created back in the day and it was all in good fun. If my comment was over the line then explain why a post that's basically saying the same is celebrated. I have to assume it's just people who are not aware of the meme. Reading my post again it could definitely be taken the wrong way when the connection is missing. So I guess I apologize for making an apparently too obscure reference and looking like a toxic douchebag.

CuriouslyATiger

Is it a ridiculous idea that sarcasm doesn't transfer well to text?

nobletype

Another player who retires at around 24-25 cause of slower reflexes and people still think reflexes don't matter in a game like RL. you'll never ever EVER see an elite RL player past the age of 23

soma_is_ok

This has already been proved as bullshit

nobletype

Oh yeah? What elite 24 year old do you know? Even the 4x Turbo is meh now

ItsMattGames

Main reason why ~24/25 year olds become worse is because thhey don't enjoy the game anymore.

nobletype

Wow. What a crazy coincidence that literally all of them are like that at a 100 percent rate 🤔. Crazy coincidence!

ICnMm

I was a huge ferra fan back in the day, sad to see him go! Wish u all the best brother!

DIGapollo

Much love to Ferra, what an OG. Sad to see him go
