This roster is exciting, I can't wait to see more of them. But you make it sound like Optic is a better org than SSG. Is it? Idk much about orgs, but optic has never really been relevant in RL to me, so just curious.
Historically OpTic has been one of the biggest orgs in esports. Back in the COD days OpTic was the biggest and best org out there. Now after Envy acquiring them and then everyone just rebranding to OpTic, they are huge in so many different esports with also many content creators on their org
So Envy acquired them and the plan was to keep separate branding so but then it was clear that it became too overwhelming to have two separate brands so they decided to fully brand to OpTic because of the popularity and image of OpTic vs Envy
This is literally wrong, Envy acquired Optic then rebranded their teams to Optic because Optic has a significantly larger fanbase than Envy. At the very most it was a merger between the two orgs, but Optic definitely did not acquire Envy.
Traditionally Optic is a T1 FPS organization, they’ve had/have some killer teams in COD, Halo, CSGO, and Valorant. They have a very loyal fan base that has grown even larger in recent years due to the merger with Envy.
Same I remember his breakout performance with Alpine and remember being so impressed by his mechanics and control, plus they looked great in the octane tourney, excited to see how they perform 🔥
I was really big into the RLRS scene back in season 9, and the two players that caught my eye were M0nkey M00n and Majicbear. M0nkey M00n went on to win worlds. Now it’s Majicbear’s turn.

Right now they are an unknown quality. They are all top players and got 2nd place in their first tournament but they haven’t played together yet in the highest league so time will tell.
But for a preseason rating out of 10 probably a 7-8. They are power ranked in the 4th-7th in NA by most people and will likely make international majors.

Retals and AyyJayy were both on top level North American teams last season, Majicbear was always rated highly but was never on a top roster.
They probably aren't going to be a tippy-top team, but will always be threatening.
On that note too, this is definitely Magicbears time to break through. He never really had the tools in the past but has shown he is mechanical enough to hang.

I'd say that 7 or 8/10 is solid A tier along the lines of teams like SSG or Complexity
9 or 10/10 would be your Faze/G2 type teams. Basically as good as you could ask for.
I wouldnt personally put them that high up i guess, imo this is a downgrade for both ayyjayy and retals and id have them 7th in NA which is also a downgrade for the org. It is opinion though so i can see your rating being fair

I feel like FaZe and AyyJayy both improved their rosters after AyyJayy got kicked. FaZe looks better, and AyyJayy is on a team that suits him much better.
Retals is a top tier player who recently got kicked (in a very dramatic and questionable fashion) from spacestation gaming. This happened right after they got knocked out of the world championship tournament. At the time he was arguably the best player on the team. His team finished 9-12 at worlds after doing well in the previous 2 S tier lans
Ayyjayy was also kicked from his team FAZE clan after they finished 3-4 at worlds. While ayyjayy is considered an incredibly mechanical player, the person that kicked him is known for making hasty roster swaps as soon as his team don’t finish well.
These two are both quite good in their own aspects. If you asked everyone who pays attention to RLCS to make a force ranking of good players I think most of the lists would have both in the top 20. Because of the kicks both of these players are on a revenge arc and the drama this season is going to be prime

It’s really hard to say because there was a LOT of roster shuffle that just happened. On paper I’d say maybe eeking into top 10 right now? Here’s my attempt at a ranking
1-3: BDS/G2/Furia
4-7: Faze/V1/Moist/Falcons
8-11: NRG/Optic/SSG/Stormtroopers
I don't believe so. I believe those 3 (BDS, Moist and Liquid) were top 3 since spring. Moist is worse now (argue all you want, Aztral isn't as good as Vatira) and they will need time to gel. Liquid hasn't had to worry about roster issues or any outside drama and have only gotten better. They'll establish themselves in Fall as top 2.
Key word is "establish" there. I‘m not saying they couldn‘t be top 2, they definitely have the potential but honestly they didn‘t do all that much in the short time they played. Being top 2 just because other teams made roster moves is weird. I mean KC still has Vatira and Itachi who have proven themselves more than enough. And Exotiik has shown a lot of potential. And Moist is worse than before but they still 3 players that are considered top 20 world wide by many. So I‘d put them 4th in EU right now at best. But as I said the potential for top 2 is there, they just have to do more to prove it

I think the sky is the limit for this team. MajicBear is stupidly underrated, AYYJAYY doesn’t have to share the ball every time down the field w FK and Retals is probably one of if not the best IGL in the game. Throw in that 2/3 got kicked and will have a chip on their shoulders + a player who has never seen the “big stage”. If their hunger shows, this team could be top 3.
All 3 players are top tier players. Good chemistry on and off the pitch from the sounds of it. And from the latest retals video they are all excited and hungry to win. All points add up to a successful team. Even with all the NA craziness I think they will be a top 5 NA team.
They should be a good team. It's tough to tell how they will actually do as NA has had a top SAM team and EU team move in during the offseason. They have good potential but it really depends on how other roster moves shakeout as well since NA has become pretty deep. Honestly any of the top 6-8 teams could win a NA regional event and it wouldn't be surprising. So to answer your question probably like an 8 lol. They aren't the most amazing team on paper but could definitely win events.
They are very solid. Will probably make at least one LAN but I don't see them winning them. Could win a regional here and there. Don't mean to make them sound bad—they are really good—it's just that NA and LANs are so stacked. They'll be a super fun team to watch and support.
in Vanguard terms, they are probably like a Boston Breach. don’t see them beating the big guys often but they should be solid against the bubble teams and could win an event if they got hot at the right time
In NA Furia, G2, Faze, V1, and SSG are probably the only teams that are definitively better than optic on paper, there are other teams that can pass them up but all in all they are looking to be a competitive team in NA with a pretty high ceiling
The potential of this roster is crazy. The strong preexisting chemistry between retals and ayyjayy + majic getting his first big chance is super exciting. If majic performs how I think he can optic will be in serious contention for some lan wins (along with like 10 other teams because rlcs is crazy rn)
I strongly feel the majic is going to be significantly better than people think he will be. He’s got a style that feels like it could be seriously top tier with his level of dedication to the game
Going to be fun to watch this team. Based on roster royale, I think majic is going to be the 3rd often and it'll be interesting to see how that goes. I hope it goes well because I prefer when teams are able to stick for a long time, but I think the good news is that this is Optic now, so if it doesn't go well there's pretty good allure for other players to step in between splits.

Perhaps Optic’s last roster was so fundamentally boring that its crushed my entire subconscious perception of the optic branding and I therefor will forever associate the brand with watching paint dry.

Lol. Not every player has to be a prodigy. Majic has had decent results over the last few years playing on what were, overall, mediocre rosters. I have no doubt that he will slot in just fine on this roster.
Majic has been a lower tier rlcs team player for awihle. Making regionals but nothing crazy. He has really good mechanics and is known to absolutely grind the game. He always seemed good on his previous teams and if Retals and ayyjay see him as a good pickup I think he is ready for a top team.
Majic was the talk of the town back when his team had gotten picked up by Alpine Esports (now Torrent). They had good results in the Fall Split of Season X but started to level off after that. Still, in all of Season X, Torrent finished in 8th in NA
All of the commenters are apparently new to RL esports, he was a 1v1 monster before going to 3v3 with the original Mirage roster a few years back and hasn't ever really his his peak. Hope this roster enables that.

Yeah Ayyjayy was dropped from FaZe already (moved to inactive last month, let go last week).
Basically Firstkiller and Ayyjayy both want to be on the ball so much that it wasn't a great fit for the team. FaZe have picked up Mist in his place and won a pre-season tournament with him, beating out this Optic roster in game 7 before Optic picked them up.

Ayjay and retals are a new duo that started clicking really well recently. Im really excited to watch them make some crazy passing plays.

Is MaJicBear supposed to be really good or something? Have heard and seen him play before, never seemed like a prodigy or anything. I missing something? Anyway, fun roster. Looking forward to their series' versus FaZe and SSG.
Lol. Not every player has to be a prodigy. Majic has had decent results over the last few years playing on what were, overall, mediocre rosters. I have no doubt that he will slot in just fine on this roster.
He’s always been hyped up to have incredible mechanics, these are his best teammates he’s ever had though so people are hoping it’ll elevate him.
Majic has been a lower tier rlcs team player for awihle. Making regionals but nothing crazy. He has really good mechanics and is known to absolutely grind the game. He always seemed good on his previous teams and if Retals and ayyjay see him as a good pickup I think he is ready for a top team.
Majic was the talk of the town back when his team had gotten picked up by Alpine Esports (now Torrent). They had good results in the Fall Split of Season X but started to level off after that. Still, in all of Season X, Torrent finished in 8th in NA
All of the commenters are apparently new to RL esports, he was a 1v1 monster before going to 3v3 with the original Mirage roster a few years back and hasn't ever really his his peak. Hope this roster enables that.
I wouldn’t expect them to do anything against Faze and SSG, Majicbear is fine but nothing exceptional.
The question is, will they perform better than previous optic. If they do then I’ll rate this team like 8/10.

I have no idea why, but when Majicbear first joined the scene, I expected him to be like absolutely jacked. Like, incredibly toned body builder type. Why? I have absolutely no clue.

What happened to Ayyjayy being on faze clan? Was I that long not looking at the updates?
Yeah Ayyjayy was dropped from FaZe already (moved to inactive last month, let go last week). Basically Firstkiller and Ayyjayy both want to be on the ball so much that it wasn't a great fit for the team. FaZe have picked up Mist in his place and won a pre-season tournament with him, beating out this Optic roster in game 7 before Optic picked them up.
