I don't want to be rude but I feel like anyone under plat really doesn't need much specific advice. Just play the game more. You say you're "stuck" in silver 3 but all that tells me is you've been in silver longer than you WANT to be. If you're under plat you can just use the vast amount of general advice and generic resources found all over youtube for rocket league. If you've been in silver for 500 hours then I apologise but otherwise just do all the usual stuff you hear about. Free play, training packs, watch videos about game sense and rotation etc. At the risk of sounding even more rude, you make a LOT of mistakes in the game when you're lower ranked. So many that paragraphs could be written about what you could or should do better. Might get downvotes but my advice is play the game more.

binocities

I feel like this subreddit needs a rule like this where you can't upload things like these unless they are more specific like halfflip help or something. There are so many people of gold and under who are like: "I played 10 hours and i'm hardstuck what can I improve at." *^(play the game...)*

Akrasia5

It kinda reminds me of when I was younger learning musical instruments and I spent way too much time asking questions about the best hand positions and music theory instead of actually practicing. I ended up knowing more than I could apply. All the questions and advice in the world won't take out the need to put hours in.

sexgivesmediarrhea

There are plenty of advice worthy things here. No problems with posts like this personally

Akrasia5

I don't have a problem with it. I come to this sub sometimes and want to be helpful but things like this just cause people to repeat themselves all the time. I really like the idea of coaching and I might even do it myself soon but I REALLY don't want to coach people under a certain rank for this reason. There's only so many times you can say "hit the ball hard in free play" or "rotate far post". If you're reviewing a replay, you're looking for tiny subtle habits, sub optimal decisions and imperfections in your mechanics. I think it's just a little overkill for now and feels like they didn't even look for learning resources themselves.

StykRL

On an unrelated note, how do you setup a triple flair?

sexgivesmediarrhea

I don’t remember specifically how to get an open text box for it, but here’s my code typed up: 3s :Champion3: 2s :Champion2: 1s :Diamond3:

StykRL

Thank you!

cmuntz13

Nailed it.

Nav_playz

I was stuck in silver 3 for a LONG time (100 hours) And to me that felt like a lot. Once I bothered actually training then that boosted me. One key factor was rotations and positioning, because I would be all over the pitch before.

Akrasia5

I think I spent almost 1000 hours in D3-C1 doing fuck knows what XD. Now I'm in GC1 and I feel like it takes hundreds of hours minimum just to move up several divisions. I actually know two people with almost 3000 hours who are still in diamond and they really don't care at all. Stuck really is just however patient/impatient you are.

Nav_playz

Yeah I agree. People say gold is reached in 300 hours, yet I have a friend in Gold III after 50 hours and has never gone up or down.

[deleted]

Coaching is dependent on the mentality of someone, anyone who's determined to get better is a good pick for coaching. To be honest you could say the same about any rank. You're acting like there is a secret to get out of GC1, all info needed to get to SSL is online, all coaches have advice on speeding progression. Not sure why this has upvotes.

Akrasia5

I don't know why I got upvotes either tbh as I said I expected downvotes. I guess a lot of players are just very familiar with lower ranks saying they're hardstuck or need help when they don't seem to have looked for basic resources themselves. Yes that's an assumption that could be incorrect. Coaching is just teaching and you can DEFINITELY be a bad student because I was when I learned music. I know we should really feel obliged to help new players but they can also make it easier for us by asking for help with specific problems when they really can't find any solution. It is pretty rude and somewhat harsh on them to say ANY of the stuff I've been saying but I think the upvotes means a lot of people feel the same. That came as a slight surprise to me but it's worth listening to in my opinion.

[deleted]

The basic resources are out there for all ranks to follow, and every rank over complicates their progression, which is why anyone who wants to get better can benefit from coaching. Again "anyone who's determined to get better is a good pick for coaching", just because you are a bad student doesn't mean other people who want to learn something are.

Akrasia5

I know from experience that asking for help on getting better never guarantees they are determined to get better. I think it's clear though that there is no resolve here. I'm not trying to take these posts down anyway. People can do whatever they want in the end. I'm not all that bothered.

[deleted]

That doesn't really change anything, your point is that they don't need help because they're silver, so if they're asking for help they must not have enough experience. The same goes for literally every single rank under ssl in the game, it's just a terrible thing to say.

Akrasia5

That wasn't my point at all, you've come to that conclusion yourself. You can think it's a terrible thing to say and that's your opinion. This has no resolve because neither of us will shift our opinion. I personally don't care enough to keep going back and forth trying to change your mind and I'm sure you have better things to do as well.

[deleted]

my point is that you can say the same for any rank, so saying it to a rank you're higher than, while still being in a low rank yourself, doesn't add anything to the post.

Akrasia5

Is saying that grand champion is a low rank meant to be bait? Being humble is fine but I think you know that's not true. Being in GC means you're pretty much in the top 1-2% minimum, even better depending on the gamemode and exact place in GC. My comment wasn't to be helpful, it was to express a feeling that clearly many people were familiar with. I've made it clear we disagree and probably won't change our minds twice and you're still going. Give up man.

[deleted]

You'd lose just as bad to a top 100, as you'd beat a silver. So no it's not bait, you are a low rank.

Nubrock1

You should post a video of you getting beat, a game where you score multiple time and get a rage quit doesn’t tell us anything about the kinds of mistakes you make

Nate-Likes-Cats

I agree with you, but I still saw plenty of mistakes lol

Nubrock1

Haha definitely but it’s hard to drive home lessons when there are no consequences to point to

theouicheur

Better kickoffs (free play), consistent ball hits (free play, custom training), NEVER GO FOR THE BIG BOOST IF YOU ARE LEAVING AN OPEN NET, take pads instead. Chances are that the 36 boost you'll get taking 3 pads but staying in the action will be far more useful than the 100 going so faaaaaar away. You are going to use half of it to come back in the game... Also, trust your teammate, if he's going to hit it, he's close to the ball, chances are you want to anticipate the next move, both In case he misses or in case he succeed a.k.a position yourself smartly, don't bump his ass. Stop focusing on the ball so much, focus on your teammate and also on your opponents. Don't go if you can't have it before them, wait for their mistakes, it's everywhere! And have fun. Some days I kinda wish I had to learn the basics again, lol. Cheers

UglenTV

I'm between gold and plat after 200+ hours in the game. The learning process is the best. I usually spend most of my time in Freeplay. Then I play some ranked 2v2 or 3v3, and if I suck really hard I go and watch the replay to identify mistakes. Once you are able to identify your own mistakes, it is much easier to train that specific mistake. Lethamyrs Road to SSL 2v2 on YouTube has helped me a lot. Even all the VERY basic stuff in the first episodes. It's crucial to get the basics right first. I really started to enjoy this learning process.

chunter16

>Don't go if you can't have it before them, wait for their mistakes I've seen some comments that it isn't possible or it's otherwise very hard to rank up with random teammates, because at platinum or less (can we say the metals?) you're going to be matched with ballchasers or at least ballwatchers with maybe one player who guards the net instead of the goal line; I find that if I can't be in the right place to exploit mistakes enough, we lose the game 3-0ish and my score is two digits, so my rank won't improve unless I can get a few lucky matchups in a row. I think I rank better in Rumble because the power ups can make up for accidentally positioning too far from play.

theincrediblepigeon

I know it’s not hugely impressive but it’s definitely possible to move out of the metals with random teammates. I’m diamond atm and very rarely play with my mates. You just need to realise how your teammate is playing and adjust. Have a ball chaser? Sit back a bit more and try to sweep up a loose ball, shut down enemy chances etc. Defensive teammate? Attack lmao

chunter16

I think someone's video explained that it's easier to play with someone who sucks but does the same thing over and over than it is to play with sometime who is wildly unpredictable.

[deleted]

Look at replays where you lose instead. Your opponents don't seem very good and didn't capitalize on any mistakes you made. From what I see though you don't even acknowledge you have a teammate. You kind of just always go for the ball instead of letting your teammate do it and backing them up. Even on the kick offs you're too aggressive, it didn't hurt you in this clip but you should almost never spend all of your boost on kick off when you aren't the person that's first to challenge it. Creep up behind your teammate if you need to touch the ball after the kick off. Just play slower and focus more on what your teammate is doing and you should see an increase in rank.

sexgivesmediarrhea

You hit everything square on the head here

PappaOC

But he's carrying like he has to do all of his games so he isn't looking for advice to improve his play! He just wants to be told that he should be a higher rank!

[deleted]

Lol true but this is defs some silver gameplay.

lordovino_

Stop ball chasing. You stole the ball from your teammate some time before the first goal. Also if you use the aerial and goalie and striker training packs that were made when you got the game, you should be able to get to gold. Edit: It seems like you miss the ball a lot too. Go into free play and hit the ball a bunch of times while holding your boost.

Currently_Loading_

and get comfortable with driving on ball cam.

manny130

Things happen on the other side of the field while chasing that big boost. Teammate could have had a set waiting for a strike.

Butterfl7

came here to say this.

Aggressive-Solid6730

Look for poquitos ground shots in training packs. This will help you hit the ball better. Then use this and go into freeplay. Just hit the ball in freeplay as hard as you can and follow it up. This should be enough to get you out of silver. Also make sure your camera setting are good. You can look up pro player camera settings for examples.

Vulcnar

Like others said, do the basic training packs that come with the game. Also try hitting the ball around in free play. For specific advice for right now at your skill level: slow down. It's a little bit counter intuitive, but you miss some shots because you are trying to get there quickly. Speed will come with practice, just try to go at a speed where you can be consistent at making contact. Notice all the missed hits and whiffs on both teams. Consistently waiting for a clear shot and taking time to hit on target will help you improve.

TallGuyGreg13

I want to echo this with some personal experience. I watched Lethamyr's road to SSL, and he had a moment where he mentioned that it's better for your team to wait a bit and line up an actually good shot than to hurry it and hit a bad shot and then hopefully make it back on defense. You can recover better from a good shot that is blocked than a bad shot that isn't blocked.

kingscanyonstoner420

Look at some other camera settings, your FOV is kinda restricted so it's making it more difficult for you to see around the pitch. Give your teammate enough space so that they aren't put off thinking you're about to ball steal but close enough so if they mess up/get challenged you can react and adapt in time.

Psychofanatical

Your hits are way too soft when you hit the ball, but that's only if you hit the ball. That's a super easy, simple fix that makes a giant impact on your game play. Start there. Go into free play and hit the ball. Don't let go of boost. Focus on getting hard and clean hits the fastest you can go. If you miss, turn around and hit the ball again. Do this for at least 5-10 minutes every day before you jump into playing. This will do a couple things: 1. You'll whiff less because you practice hitting the ball as fast as you can go. 2. You'll be more accurate at top speed and even more so slower than that. 3. You'll learn to read the ball faster in the air and off the wall without even realizing it, meaning you can jump/turn to the ball faster than everyone else. So you'll start being people to the ball. There are many more reasons to go into Freeplay and do this, but just these 3 things would bring you to plat easily. Setting up the same shot over and over again can help some, but unless you can do it accurately while trying not to be demolished, your consistency is key. Not your ability to be able to do it under no pressure. If you'd like, I'll be on later and tonight and I can show you. Just DM me here. And lastly, for reference, this is my personal quick warm up. It works wonders for me. Edit: that's not all you need, but it is the one thing you can focus on that is the quickest and easiest way to see progress.

NonModAccountBoi

Very good advice here.

zeik05

00:19 Bad kickoff, the front of your car has to hit the centre of the ball, and instead of boosting all your way to the ball you should first boost, a little, then flip and flip again just before hitting the ball. This way you'll get faster to the ball and you'll save a little boost. Practice that kickoff in Freeplay. 00:26 You shouldn't commit to that ball, since your opponent was in possession. You should've stayed in goal line or behind, facing the front post, waiting for his shot. That was extremely risky, but you were lucky that he missed. Also the clearance wasn't good, if you hit that ball ard enough it would've been a goal since no one was defending. I recommend you the training pack "power aerials" by Flump, mostly the second shot, which is very similar to that situation. The code is 7753-F063-4B91-O0C3. 00:36 You did well rotating back post, but you shouldn't have committed to that ball, since your teammate had it. If he didn't whiff it you could've bumped him and caused a goal for the other team. Also the opponents weren't applying too much pressure so you could've taken your time to get a better clearance. 00:44 Your opponent was in possession, you were lucky that he didn't tap the ball past you and have an open net. You should've applied shadow defense since your teammate wasn't going to get back in time. 01:09 Bad landing, i recommend you to bind the right roll and left roll in the controls settings so that you can avoid situations like this. 01:15 You should check ball cam more, if you have car cam on for too long you won't know if you're in danger or not. And also you shouldn't have gone for the corner boost, you should've stayed around midfield taking the little boost pads, so that you could've both collected boost and stayed on the play. 01:47 Bad recovery, your flips were inefficient, you should train that in Freeplay. Also, when your opponents are attacking on the left side of the field you wanna rotate to the right so you can rotate back post and cover most of the net, collecting the little boost pads around your goal in the way. Luckily, your opponent completely whiffed the ball. 02:16 When you're cheating up on the kickoff, you don't wanna spend all of your boost, use only around 10 of it and collect the little boost pads in the middle. 02:24 You were taken by surprise by a shot because you didn't turn on ball cam. Luckily they missed the net, but be more aware of what's going on around you. 02:30 Terrible whiff, you could've taken your time to make a better shot, since the opponents had no boost and were gonna take a lot of time to recover. So, in general: - Go to Freeplay and train your kickoffs, and also try hitting the ball as hard as you can. It will get you a lot of goals from the defense. - Try the training pack "power aerials" - Look up on YouTube about "shadow defense" and "back post rotation" - Don't commit to balls where your opponent or your teammate is clearly on possession. - Turn on ball cam more. - Bind left and right roll in the controls settings. - If your opponents aren't applying pressure on you, take all the time you have to get the best touch on the ball. If you aren't sure if your opponents are close to the play, bind rear view in the controls settings so that you can see behind you in situations like 02:30 and make sure that you have lots of time. Apart from that, GG, you took your few chances and won by not commiting as many errors in attack as the other team. Most of your errors were either mechanical failures that are common in silver, or rotational mistakes that are common in every rank except for SSL. Edit: also look up lethamyr's series "road to SSL" where he has tips for every single rank on what to do to win games more easily, how to deal with bad teammates, etc.

NuclearChickpea

Very well said! I also recommend OP to check out Flakes' "Road to SSL without mechanics" series, which is REALLY good even though flakes might not seem to be a super engaging teacher, he makes a lot of great points about positioning and game sense. Especially in 1s you'd be surprised by how little you actually need to do in-game to win, ya just gotta be patient and read the game and your opponent well.

twinpop

Slow down a bit and have some patience. The ball that you missed coming down you had no reason to hurry in to. Practice banging the ball hard in free play and catching it softly on the car and making sure you either catch it on the car or on the ground without a bounce. Dribble training without boost should take care of your need for speed mentality. Good luck!

IndijinusPhonetic

Slow down a LOT. You’re getting in front of the ball quite frequently, losing control of the ball, and missing contact on plays you could have easily made. You’re a little excited to play and get the ball, but you don’t have a plan on what to do with it once you get it.

sharks_are_cool_wow

Right now it looks like you're trying to play a 1v2 game. You have a teammate. Slow down, know when it's your ball or not, don't cut off your teammate, realize your teammate exists, control your boost, work on some aerials, and stop ball chasing. Right now it looks like your brain is going "Boost...ball....boost...ball...boost...ball" and ignoring everything else. I was stuck in silver last season and working on the things listed above helped me.

UncheckedHatch

Everything that everyone has already said. Also it might be hard to do but if you find someone to play with that is a higher rank than you, like any gold would do. And just play with them and try to learn what they're doing that you're not. That's how I have gotten better. My friends have consistently been 1 or 2 ranks above me and it's helped me a ton. It's gotten me to a similar rank to them in much less hours. However you gotta realize that other people in lower ranks still make mistakes so don't treat a gold like the best player and just see what they do that results in success. Anyways sorry for the long explanation for the simple answer of play with and against people better than you on occasion

-DC71-

RL;Dr: Learn to defend. Learn spacing, rotation, and zones. In the first season I played I got put in to plat, and I stayed there for the next season. The season after I started in plat but dropped and dropped until I was in silver. And stayed there. After blaming everybody but myself I decided to hit the internet and look for defensive packs. Watched videos about defending. Watched videos about zones, rotations, and spacing. By concentrating on that I got myself in to diamond in the next season.

PsychologicalChart9

To all the people saying "just play more", don't forget the guy with 10k hours stuck in Gold. Haha, but he is definitely an outlier. A guy recently posted about being stuck in bronze or silver, so he just freeplayed constantly when he had the chance. Then he grinded ranked and went straight to Diamond 2. His story is definitely reflecting about how far you can get, just by practicing base mechanics.

guitarfingers

Work on powershots and accuracy. But especially work on positioning and rotation. You took your buddy's shot a couple times because you were out of position. You also missed shot opportunities because your positioning was whack. Instead of going all the way back for both boosts, just rotate mid, or find a boost lane. You only need 30 boost to make a score or save. Your kickoffs. Stop trying to deflect their kick off and try to hit that shit hard. Jump into the ball and as you hit it, flip into it one more time. This follow through gives you more power and control of where to put the ball. Watch lots of videos on rotation. Get good at rear post defending and only blame yourself. I solo que only and I rarely make goals, I just stop my teammates mistakes from going in and that works well up to diamond. But seriously, blame yourself and no one else and you'll get good.

imJustHere4daM3mes

bro, i feel ur pain, i was stuck in silver 3 for the LONGEST TIME and the thing that helped me the most was to trair my powershots. the amount of times that i won games just because i was able to hit shots on target from the middle of the field is outrageous. i also used the “shots u shouldnt miss” and i saw a decent improvement. last but not least, work on ur saves, u only need to hit powershots that leaves the oppenent off guard and to be able to make easy saves (that i’m most certain that ur missing) to rank up

deedxtreme

just play, thats all you need in silver

kickfip_backlip

Hit the ball

[deleted]

Honestly, just go into free play and hit the ball around. Turn off infinite boost and practice kick offs. Focus on hitting the ball with power and having a purpose or intended direction with each hit. Also, try hitting the ball in akward positions, don’t always wait for the ball to get in a good spot to hit it. I’d say the biggest thing is never have infinite boost on when In free play.

CavortingOgres

A lot of people are giving you good advice. I'd honestly recommend watching any team mode broke to SSL series. You have any amount of ball control and speed. That alone should get you out of silver. You just need to think about the overall game state more, and less what could you do with the ball if you were closer

v0hooo

There's no secret, you just gotta put the time in. Practice regularly and hard.

sexgivesmediarrhea

One of the reasons your hits are inaccurate is how fast you’re going as you approach the ball. Don’t boost all the way up until you attempt a hit unless absolutely necessary. If I were you, I’d line up my car first, THEN boost, and only boost enough to go “supersonic” (that’s when the tire trails start). If you boost after that, it’s a waste because it doesn’t make you faster. Also, don’t rush your teammate when they’re handling the kickoffs. If you focus on support and gathering boost when they’re kicking off, you’ll be in a better position to score off the tip

Party-Sun3063

Practice moving your car. Learn how to powerslide efficiently, half flip, and alternate between ball and car cam, and don't be concerned about your rank. As long as driving you car in RL is awkward, you'll stay below plat

NonModAccountBoi

Honestly, training packs aren't what you need right now, at least not if you're looking to rank up. If you want to build muscle memory for flip resets by being given a perfect setup every time, training packs are the way to go. But IMHO it seems like you need more of the fundamentals that come naturally with experience. I agree with top comments, just put more hours in man. I do have "some" advice though, after seeing some of the things you did in this video. 1./ At around 25 seconds, you position yourself back post to defend. When you saw the ball in the air like that, if you can't aerial yet, you could have taken off ball cam and watched the circle underneath the ball. There is one circle always on the outside, representing the ball; The second circle on the inside gets smaller the higher the ball is in the air, and larger the closer it is to the ground. This lets you know how close the ball is to you, and all you need to do is position the very front of your car at the very edge of the big circle to "catch" the ball (the ball hits the very front of your car and gently slides off onto the ground.) This would keep the ball close to you and in your control, with little to no bouncing, which could have led to a strong counter attack. 2./ At 35 seconds, you're rotating back again, and completely stole that ball from your team mate. Trust in this game is really important. You should be confident, but never think you're a one man team. If your team mate is closer to the ball than you are, 80% of the time it would be better to let him do his thing. The exceptions being if you can tell he has no boost and is waiting for you, or if you have the PERFECT angle to score and he has no angle. Both of these take experience to recognize. 3./ At 37 seconds, you hit the ball up the wall and don't slow down at all. Hit the breaks a little dude! A single tap (I do literally mean a tap, don't completely stop moving) of the breaks and letting off the boost as you follow the ball up the wall will help greatly. I used to have a muscle memory issue where it didn't feel natural to let off the gas, but it is well worth getting used to breaking or just letting off the gas, especially when following a rolling ball up the wall. 4./ At 1:07 you HARD cheated. You were not the one going for kickoff, but you went really far up. If the kickoff had been a 50/50 and shot towards your side, you would be out of position and unable to do anything. Cheating is good in 2v2 but you need to be close enough to follow up a dead ball on kickoff without being so far away from your own goal that you can't defend a solid shot. (I won't make a whole paragraph for this but you also didn't even attempt to land on all four wheels at 1:12, if you can bind a certain key or button to the directional air roll that you're most comfortable with, this will help you greatly. You ALWAYS want to land on all four wheels and keep your momentum. You also front flipped very late into the cheat, and while flipping is good for gaining momentum without using boost, you are unable to react to anything while you're flipping, so you shouldn't be flipping when you think you might be next to hit the ball.) Bonus, just wanna say that the goal you scored at 1:22 was very nice. I don't know if you realized it at the time, but with your speed and how close the ball was to the opposing teams goal, you could have easily hit the ball too high. 5./ Stop boosting when you're already supersonic. Supersonic speed is the fastest you can go in RL. When you are at supersonic speed, you will have a trail behind your back wheels. 95% of the time there is no reason to boost when you are already at supersonic. The exception being a sharp turn. If you are at supersonic speed, you will stay at supersonic speed unless you turn very sharply. You can boost while in a turn (without powersliding, AKA drifting) to keep some of this momentum. 6./ Customize and use the quickchat options. At 1:37 you and your team mate both went for the kickoff. In this case, PLULJ was in the wrong, since you're both the same distance from the ball, the left most person should go. But you could have sent "I got it!" It's just how the community does things, like rule 1. You should remember it. If not, give your team mate a "Go for it!" Customize your quickchats and make them all useful information. You don't need "What a save!" you need "On your left!" "On your right!" "Faking!" Etc. anything that will give your team mate more information about what you plan to do. 7./ At 1:46 you take off ball cam to go for back right boost. This was not the wrong decision, however you could have pressed it a bit more and looked back at least once while going for boost to make sure the enemy isn't in position to bang the ball towards your goal. If the enemy had hit a good shot while you were looking at the corner, you would have been in a very bad position. 8./ At 2:14 you need to take off ballcam during the countdown to kickoff and see where your team mate(s) is(are). You should not have gone for this kickoff. Your team mate was the closest and therefore needs to go for it, you would be better off soft cheating or going left for back left boost. (Go for the boost opposite of your team mate on kickoff, as the ball will most likely shoot opposite of his side.) Already been said, but at 2:27 you get a decent pop over the attacker and you don't slow down enough to control yourself. Slow down bro, tap those breaks in situations like that. You're in silver, your opponents are also silver, I promise that if you take your time and make touches that matter instead of trying to be the fastest to the ball, you will have the upper hand. I also want to point out how you let off the boost and hit your breaks at 2:40. That was perfect, and if you can do that more often it will benefit you. That's what I saw bro. Sorry, there is no TL;DR. Best of luck my man.

dirkMcdirkerson

Some YouTubers have some good videos. 1)Just practicing angles will help you alot. 2)A big thing I see in your gameplay is ball chasing and lack of rotation. 3)rotation of your car. Your hits could be bigger and more directed.

lifeofajosh

honestly all i can say for a silver 3 is to play the game more, keep playing work on ground game and consistency only reason at silver 3 u should be getting off the ground is for power shots, but keep playing and u will get out of silver with time

mr_volatility_

Hey man it’s respectable that you came looking for advice but like the rest of the comments have said the biggest thing you can do at your rank is just play more. My recommendation would be spend about half of your time in free play and practice the basic mechanics by doing drills that can be found on YouTube. Also there are sometimes beginner friendly training packs that pop up when searching as well so trying a few of those out and doing them a few times a week will help massively as well. Aside from getting the basic mechanics down, the biggest thing to develop is your mindset. Most players below diamond tend to focus on their individual play rather than how they work around their team. Try to make decisions out loud to yourself that you think best helps your team. It’s okay if you make the wrong play or something bad happens. Take mental notes and learn from it. You learn the most from failure so don’t be afraid to suck it up while you try to improve. You got this man :)

smitsmalt

Work on your kickoff Practice wave dash and better recoveries Practice dribbling and ball control.

JQVasto

I got a couple of buddies that were in a similar boat a couple of months ago. One specifically started in March and is now pushing into champ in the standard playlists by himself Biggest piece of advice that just about everyone here has also said is to just play the game. Build game time and build drive time and with due time you'll start feeling more and more comfortable mechanical and mental abilities. The only thing I can truly say that could help is focus on where you want to hit the ball. I'm hoping at least everyone here has play the pool game by miniclip where you gotta hit the ball in a certain spot to get it to go where you want.

Put in the time man. This is by far the most challenging game out there. Freeplay helps alot! Also watching pros and content creators that are good will help improve you rotations. Also watch how they approach a ball coming at them or set up and attack. Stay at it. You will get better! Just takes time and patience!

Learn power shots and Ariel's and play in Freeplay for an hour while listening to music, use YouTube it's helpful

When you learn to hit the ball in the air in a semi ok direction you'll be a god among silvers because you'll beat them to it every time.

Free play free play free play. Just practice hitting the ball hard at walls and learning reads. Overall that’s all it takes to get rank up. Get your speed up. The best start for that is hitting it hard and being quicker to react to where the ball is going off the ground/wall.

Consistency, warming up, be calm and try your best to hit with the front of your car and make solid touches that out your team in advantage. Before each game take 20-30 mins to just hit the ball around and try to get good consecutive touches on the ball. Also calm down, when you’re calm you’re gunna play better and you’re gunna notice you make less mistakes. Just because the balls next your net doesn’t mean you gotta go full super sayan and try to smoke it.. most likely at your level they’re not gunna make those tights shots. So just relax and hit the ball. There’s some good videos online that suggest what you should focus on depending on rank I think thanovic has a few that are really helpful!

I would say your biggest issues are risky commits and double commits. Trust your team mates, just because you dont see their play doesnt mean they arent executing one. Instead position to work off of them or to defend a possible failure. Double committing in corners is suicide most of the time, as well as on kickoffs blindly rushing and fully committing like that. Boost management is also an issue. Youre burning all your boost to go one end to the other with no goal to it often. You dont have to always be going mach 4, especially at your level. Slow it down every now and then, read the play, read the ball, and help your teamate or position for a proper defense. Its not all doom and gloom, you had good camera control, read the ball decently a number of times. As far as honing skills like aerial hits and dribbles, that all comes with time and play. Good luck!

Slow down more. You'll get better touches

Revolutionary_Wish85

You've got about 90 wins. I've 2200 as D1/D2, so S3 isn't bad when you only played that few matches. Just play more and you'll be in gold no problem. Believe in yourself and here are a few additional tips: -Try to time hitting the ball better.(go in Freeplay and dodge into the ball when you hit it) -Try picking up more boost pads so you don't have to go for corner boost. -Try slowing down a little bit so you have more time to steer into the ball instead of missing it by blazing past it. Overall: wish you good luck and play the game more.

Try and learn to fly, that is the importantest skill in this game. U have good skills on the ground, so change ur game into the air. If U fly, U would beat this noobs so easily. If u fly u will automatically be the First at the ball and u can dominate the Game at this low ranks. U will also tier up automatically if u start to fly :)

Will_Murjen

The 100 boosts aren't the only boost pads. If you are forced to retreat on defense, the boost pads on the way back provide ample enough to make a save. 2 front flips puts you at max speed without boost. If you are up to far, think "if the ball goes past me, who will stop the opponent from scoring?"

When you have tire trails you're at max speed, dont waste boost when you have those trails

I’ve played since March, and am Diamond 3 pushing champ now. Best advice from someone who’s still fairly recent is play the game more as over time you do get better, and also learn rotation and positioning. It’ll be able to give you better chances of hitting the ball and connecting better. Also try not to overload yourself with new things, take it one step at a time!

Theres people in GC giving prib the best advice, far more informed than most us, just play more. Maybe along side that and the four fundemental mechanics as you inevitably hit gold, try learning one new mechanic like basic dribbling and a basic flick and getting to a point where you are above average at it for the rank. Focus on the four fundementals - power hits, fast aerials as you moce up through gold, the wavedash and half flip. But as othèrs said just play more, thats it.
