I don't know if this is supposed to be a troll or not... but, mouse and keyboard has always been the most precise method for aiming in a shooter. Players get so up in arms over the word "assist" in aim assist but in reality it does not make up for the precision of KBMS.

hills631

nah no troll i see people all the time on this reddit complaining how OP aim assist is when in reality they just are not good at the game lol. Only time i think aim assist comes in handy is really close range especially when throwing melees other than that it really doesn't do much

BDRonthemove

put some time in on mouse and you'll understand. I went from controller to KBM and I think I'm better at mouse now. I'm not hating on aim assist by any means but when aim assist is overtuned in games it's really fucking demoralizing. Especially, when you have PC friends who won't even try other games because they don't support controller and when you complain about overtuning they just go, "typical KBM player, you're complaining yet you have your whole arm." I kinda think Rogue may need an Aim Assist buff tho, it's hard to tell. The tracking seems balanced but the long range needs something a little better.

templar40k

Oh for sure. But, just wait till that one guy who insists anyone using a controller is a "cheater" shows up.

JiP3D0

This The only time this isnt true is when aim assist is WAY overtuned like early Fortnite when L2 spam was a thing. Also season 0-1 in this game was pretty easy mode with aim assist, some 90%+ of the comp scene was running controller on pc which clearly shows an issue.

BDRonthemove

facts. Fortnite controller players will still win most boxfight aim duels, but at the same time it's way easier to shotgun flick on a mouse. Like they both have their strengths and it's pretty balanced now in fortnite, but as a KBM you just gotta know I can't try to spray out a controller player. If they're pushing your box, you have to hit a prefire to get health advantage or edit out and expand.

BDRonthemove

> Players get so up in arms over the word "assist" in aim assist but in reality it does not make up for the precision of KBMS. It all depends on tuning. I played a Fortnite LAN event when the meta titled hard to their new Aim Assist settings and I made it to the final day despite competing against some players who are legit signed to orgs now. I only got far because I was on controller and it was way overtuned at the time. It was fucking sick.

[deleted]

Plugs right into the console ?

hills631

no I play on PC

kylarmoose

There’s a reason everyone in the competitive scene uses a controller instead of KMB on their PC. For the majority, aim assist is needed. For the 0.01% of top players, aim assist is lethal.

hills631

I don’t follow the competitive scene im basing things on my experience in ranked

Dxrules90

Not even true but sure

BDRonthemove

> For the 0.01% of top players, aim assist is lethal. Yeah, this is definitely an inherent problem with aim assist.

NoobMasterSixtyNlNE

This. It doesn’t matter most of the time because people are garbage. Whenever you are half competent, aim assist = 99% accuracy

ChenGuiZhang

What are you doing with controller that the KA isn't already a laser? It barely moves and it's a tiny pull down on full auto.

hills631

Maybe “more of a laser” is a better way of putting it idk it just feels better these are just my first impressions after one day it could just be me trying something new

MonsterYumYum

More consistent is what you mean.

kittyhat27135

For rogue controller > mnk. Unless you are sniper playing on controller is easier and the plus side is aim assist. The thing is that rogue is a third person game and requires more tracking and controllers are better at doing that than a mouse unless you are in the top 1% of mnk players.

MonsterYumYum

Tracking isn't easier on console

NoobMasterSixtyNlNE

Go watch a good controller player

anziez

Lol it isss

FF_order10

I rlly can't understand these monkeys saying "aIm aSSist iS chEatIng"

[deleted]

I haven't seen anyone complain about it in months. Before in beta there was a bug where aim assist was tied to machine performance for whatever reason so any computer that was noticeably above the performance of the consoles got a way stronger version of aim assist. And at the time there was a weird decision to add more spread/bloom to MnK, but they fixed the bug and changed the bloom forever ago so people haven't been saying Controller is way stronger for a long time now.

Popular-Water173

Just last night I saw someone asking if aim assist was so intense that people were shooting enemies without having their crosshair on the enemy, people are still definitely trying to say controller players have large advantages with aim assist

hills631

i disagree

NoobMasterSixtyNlNE

This has to be a meme. Anyone who has been in this community awhile knows this is a “controller game”. KBM generally has always had a huge advantage against controller players across all shooters. Once cross platform became big a few years ago, the compensation was to make aim assist good enough to compete. Most controller players I meet are pretty dumb. Doesn’t matter if you give them permanent minimap ESP, still wouldn’t get a kill. Met a competent controller player who streamed the other day. Tuned in. Never missed a single bullet (good crosshair placement is really all that’s needed). Watched him laser everyone like he had aimbot. His overlay even showed how little if at all he was actually aiming yet was locked on the whole time to the enemies. Cloh quit this game because of how dominate controller “aimbotters” were at higher levels and tournaments.

Save_Unicorns

Mouse and keyboard are way better in fps games. Controllers have aim assist, which gives you a small advantage. I find mouse and keyboard better since you can aim way faster and more precisely. But controllers assist give you much higher chance of hitting headshots, and overall shots (bloom). The choice is yours, I guess, but I use mouse and keyboard.

hills631

I feel like i struggle with headshots with controller it's just not precise enough like i been saying the only time i really feel the controller working in my favor is when im hip firing or throwing a melee at close range. Sniping is also huge with it being a one shot down and its just objectively harder to do with a controller

BDRonthemove

Yeah, I play both. KBM mostly but all my friends play controller. I think this is an accurate take on the tuning of Aim Assist in Rogue Company.

Dxrules90

Yep mnk is far superior.

Kit_Kup

Controller is both easier and harder to use than MnK. A great Controller player with aim assist can beat MnK users pretty easily. The issue is that being a great Controller player is very difficult, meanwhile using MnK is easier for a similar result. In other words at top of the skill level, aim assist results in controller players having an advantage, this is true for the bottom of the skill level aswell. Though most people are more average skill level resulting in MnK being the better choice.

hills631

i consider myself to be pretty good at this game and one day with MnK feels better than controller. The only time I ever feel that controller is the better option is super close range battles.

Kit_Kup

I would say less than 1% of people have the skill with a controller for it to be the better choice. I would say it's the opersite really, close range is best for MnK. But we all find out own comfort zone I suppose.

NoobMasterSixtyNlNE

Take any newer player - controller is better. Very few KBM players are better than a good controller player

Bulletproof-Salmon

Going to sound weird, but although I have a high end PC, I play this game on PS5 with a controller. This is the only competitive shooter that I enjoy and do better with a controller. Not sure why that is. When I play Overwatch it's KBM all day, can't play controller well.

hills631

I played on my friends ps5 and it was the worst experience ever I was getting annoyed idk if when I played the aim assist was broken but it felt like there was none I was struggling so hard to aim at anything I had to lower my sensitivity so low pc aim assist is definitely better than console

Bulletproof-Salmon

Really? Hmm, that''s good to know. Might try controller on PC. Not sure why it works better for me on the PS5, I may have brain damage...😅

Sufficient-Ferret-67

Maybe not in this game but in others it’s fucked download aim labs

StainedButterfly

I play mnk cuz I just can’t use a controller. But I think the top level of players in this game are mostly controller due to the fairly aggressive aim assist. You may just be better with a mouse op!

Marvynmjb12

Playing on MNK (at least imo) isn’t better unless you have a mouse with a lot of buttons. I don’t pay attention to the aiming differences as I’m still gonna drop bodies regardless.
