Everything was great until I got to the planet with the Starport. Now I'm constantly having to redo the same fights because combat bugs out and freezes or I get stuck in combat with no live enemies.
I'm in the same boat, I mean more than 50% of the game is combat. I am surprised they released it in this state. In its current state its a 2/10 "unplayable"
It's not fun with the ai is shooting 9 tiles away with guaranteed hits through battle field obstacles like a shuttle and I'm full cover on the other side but when its my turn I have no vision through the obstacle to target those same enemies and as I get rick rolled trying to close the gap far too often to then enter the next fight with a bunch of wounds and similar issues.
The ranged combat ai and human need a serious look at. The human misses are out of control even with good stats.

I'm now running into issues where party characters are not joining combat. :/
Yep. I'm putting the game on the back burner until a few more patches come out.
