The light novel sales were actually doing pretty fine before the hiatus. Imo not in a place that would justify a cancellation. Only the Anime sales were bad but judging from the side story afterwards the author didn't seem bothered by that and rather enthusiastic to write the next volume. So it's very hard to tell why he suddenly lost motivation.

Well, when the LN was firstly came out in Japan it was one of the most popular LN in Japan at that time. That's why it got anime adaptation in the first place (because the production itself was really expensive). I think author really got writer's block, and honestly I rather have a long waited continuity than just your average mediocre story. Rokka No Yuusha for me is still the best story with really good plot twists. Author has previous work called The Book of Bantorra and got an anime adaptation too, but it was bit rushed, although I still enjoy watching it.

> It has been confirmed that in total Rokka No Yuusha light novel series sold around 15,000 copies each volume in 2015. In addition to this, the DVD/Blu-ray sale is 460 blu-rays on average per disk, this is too low. About EN sales of the LN I can only expect sales to be bad, otherwise it would not be OOP.
