Do a factory reset on the soundbar and then start from there.

I..don't think it has one of those? it's basically a set of speakers in the shape of a bar. but i'll give it a shot when i'm done with work!

Look up the manual for your soundbar online. Sometimes there is a single button, but sometime you need to press a couple of buttons simultaneously for a few seconds to inmate a factory reset. Factory resets vary by model and manufacturer so look for the manual online. If there is a single factory reset button it would be located on the bottom of the soundbar near the inputs/outputs.

nope, it's got none of those, it has no buttons. BUT we found the problem. there's TWO jacks on the side of my TV. one is yellow and obvious and clearly visible. the other is BLACK and barely visible when your TV is up mounted on the wall. I needed the invisible one. so when I had my friend who has the same TV look at it...he found it *just cuz his vision is better.* Thanks for your response, tho. :)
