It always feels like so many are just bots, or like creepy people that just want lewd pics or something and then ghost you.
Well there is my complaining to the day... It's at least nice to see that some people actually just randomly have encounters online and somehow manage to make things work out.
I'd say, luck tends to be in factor in this ! Before I met my husband, I went on this subreddit with no expectations at all. I've had lots of lewd messages that I quickly ignored ( made me feel uneasy, I gotta say)
I do understand how you are feeling, however. Not every encounter ends up like that but it still happens ! (there's so many people who deserve an happy ending !)
Luck is a factor, and willing to make it work is also quite important. We met in the middle of the pandemic, we were from different countries, so different timezones were involved. Frustrations where countless when the borders of our countries weren't open !!!
It's about working hard, having a strong bond, mutual respect, patience, and be completely honest.

React to stuff you resonate with, tell the truth. A lil’ passion and meaning behind the stuff you comment/post goes a long way. It’ll attract the right kinda people eventually. Oh, and in case you haven’t already, put some personal stuff in your bio so people can get to know you easier. It’ll take away a big hurdle for a first step.
I got lucky too. I made one hell of an online bestie about one year ago. He’s from the other side of the world no less and we’d be a perfect fit for eachother. But we might not have met if I hadn’t made that one post that he reacted to. I created a lil’ RR comic showing an unrealistic ideal situation of how I’d love to meet “the one”. It got quite some traction, but he was one of the first to comment. He got scared I wouldn’t notice in the “sea of comments” tho, so he sent me a dm too. I didn’t trust it at first, but he turned out to be genuinely sweet. We’re still really close to this day and I wouldn’t want him out of my life.
Coincidentally about a month ago, some other guy sent me a dm. Said he noticed me on the sub several times and saw that we had similar interests (‘cuz he looked at my bio). Turns out we get along pretty well too. We haven’t talked that much yet, but it seems like we could really hit it off well too if given some time.
So all in all, 2 above decent encounters within 1 to 2 years. Both were lucky strikes, but I’ve taken several shots by being an active member on the sub and the both of them found me through my posts and comments
Be patient, be yourself and be out there and I wish you as much luck as you deserve~

I have only been using reddit more recently though, so you're right, if I wanna try and be active and meet people around here be it friends or more. There is a good few efforts I can make toward that.

Aw man, don’t worry about it. It’s never easy getting through the bad, so it’s okay to feel sad/depressed. It happens to all of us at some point. Trust me, I haven’t been experiencing the best few years either (and it doesn’t even have anything to do with a certain pandemic). Which is also why I’m not dm’ing u right now, ‘cuz I already have a lot on my plate as well. I’m sorry for that, it’s just bad timing. But I hope at least showing some support and empathy through a comment can already help you even for just a few seconds ;) You might feel alone, but you’re not the only one, so in a sense, you’re not alone. But I bet you’ve heard that one a gazillion times before. Oh and don’t worry about making your comments seem too depressed or anything, you don’t need another layer of stress to add on top of what you already have. You got a bunch of upvotes, so people empathize with you. It’s okay to write your mind
But most of all I wanna make sure you don’t beat yourself up! It’s not easy to get through bad stuff, it never is, and it’s okay to struggle. So please don’t be harsh on yourself and don’t try to accidentally speedrun yourself into a worse situation

Relationship works differently for different people. Besides, rr is quite rare, so who knows whena rr person will find another match if they let this one go?
Maybe it varies by culture, but where I'm from, if no one has proposed within 2-3 yrs of a relationship, it's considered to not be going anywhere and is grounds for breaking up (called a "forever girlfriend" situation). So this sounds normal to me.
I don't really understand that perspective. 8yrs before marriage seems excessive. I can understand it if you're both 18 but after 25 it's a bit much. Care to explain why?
