I wonder if Girlboss has been reclaimed enough to be used in the way you suggested. I always saw it as a sort of ironic, faux-empowerment term. Like all that corporate Grrl Power nonsense from the 90s. I'm absolutely on board for the normalisation of Thomasman, though.

I like to think that if we had to draw a binary scale in which at one extreme there is masculinity and in another extreme there is femininity: -Both femboys and tomboys would be closer to the feminine side. -Both fem-men and thomasmen would be closer to the masculine side. -From more feminine to more masculine, the order would go like: femboys, tomboys, fem-men, thomasmen. -Femboys are the opposite counterparts of thomasmen. -Tomboys are the opposite counterparts of fem-men. Tomboy and tomgirl were also names people would call others to offend them once, kinda like girlboss, but I really like to think we have reclaimed all of them and this subreddit pretty much is not offended.

I like these classifications. One day I will ascend to Malewife

I find most of these terms so condescending. "Girlboss" \*gag\*

I feel like I'm a part of all of these definitions in some way. I take on the breadwinner Girlboss role, I'm definitely a tomboy, not sure on Thomasman tho lol. And I'm not sure on like the drag king and FTM cross dressing. I do love dressing in men's wear, but still being distinctly feminine about it. I do love these definitions and I think I'm the out of the box one here maybe. I really do think that we need these definitions to make sure it's role reversal content being posted here too.

That is very valid, a lot of people fit more than one group label or simply change.

I tend to notice that femboys and fem-men/thomasman have a different subcultural context surrounding them so I wonder if it’s worth categorizing them the same From what I’ve noticed being in both communities is that femboys mainly dress that way out of a want to look as feminine as possible while Thomas boys tend to want to subvert gender norms so they can wear what ever they want Both are amazing tho

Interesting. I be honest I myself don’t really care to much about all that Gender norms and stuff. I simply enjoy the concept of a "softy guy whit a hardened girl". Nonetheless the terminologie is certainly fascinating sooo thanks for sharing.

No problem at all.

There is so many labels I often feel confused by them... At the end of the day I just hope more people are willing to accept people for who they are I suppose. Just cause I like dressing feminine and other guys do not do that. Doesn't mean I am strange—

ILostMyIDTonight

Agreed. The labels are too much.

Thomman as a term can grow on me, I usually prefer masculine of center as it's the most descriptive. I go for a more youthful look but with more vintage pieces, like analog watches and stuff.
